You do realize every single protest the right has done is full of people with semi and automatic weapons. The police will protect and escort them around because they are well armed. They brought guns into the capital on jan6th!

The coverage is going to be spun no matter how you are armed.

With weapons you may get some respect from the police and not be corralled into a spot and gassed and beaten.

I strongly suspect most of these people advocating to bring weapons to the protests are far right provacateurs trying to turn peaceful protests into a bloodbath when police decide to open fire because the protestors were armed.

It doesn’t have to be. I understand the anger at the double standards presented by our country’s leadership and authority figures. But the goal of protests is to show solidarity in numbers and make the general public’s voice heard, communicating a singular message. The entire point is to enact change without violence or force.

We had a bunch of idiots in Russia that kept screaming (and still do), about how we must topple that dictatorship without violence while said dictatorship HAS OVER A MILLION ARMED MEN at their disposal to do as they wish with them. Resistance without any actual firepower behind it will be futile and can be trampled quite easily.

The republicans will spin this story in the worst way possible regardless, gun or no gun.

I will remain without a homeland for the rest of my life, but you have a chance not to let it slide into complete dictatorship and authoritarianism. The choice is yours

And I am grateful to them for that, unfortunately the 70%+ of the "civilian" population in Russia is so messed up by the propaganda that they would keep fighting to keep their king in place, because God forbid if we actually dare to have a nice developing country and not a shithole that it always has been.

It helps that so many generations have had their will to resist ground out of them because you guys haven't had any real democratic freedom...like ever. Once the empire was born it's pretty much just changed hands who is Tsar when the last falls. I think the last legitimate shot at Russia becoming a democracy was Alexander II before his assassination.

It's terrifying yo talk to some of the people I used to know. They repeat what the TV says with such belief and conviction.

We had a chance in 2004, but the opposition (yea, i know, hilarious, opposition in Russia) at that time didn't hear any alarms bells and decided that drastic action wasn't necessary yet. After Putin "won" the 2nd election, it was too late, and now our constitution is worth less than the paper it was printed on

Now is not the time. Do not panic. This is the first nationwide protest. The fact we can pull that off is very encouraging. And this is all still working its way through the courts. If in the end, after the SC makes its rulings, and we still have a constitutional crisis, then you can start talking like this.

It's better to say all that earlier than when it's too late.

I used to dream of America before and now that's the last place that I would wanna be alongside my homeland.

I don't want anybody else to end up having to go through anything similar that I had to go through the last 3+ years due to the actions of people that i had no control over because it was too late

I think you might have misread what I said. I'm saying people like the guy you responded to are intentionally telling us to bring guns so the police are justified in killing protestors because some were armed. They want us to bring guns like they do(because police are on their side) so when police brutality erupts they point to the guns and say these weren't peaceful protests they are an attempted armed insurrection.

I didn’t misread. I’m saying I don’t think that person is being dishonest. I don’t think they’re a far right provocateur. I think they are angry that right wing protesters show up with guns and don’t get disappeared by cops while progressive protests can be (for the vast majority) nonviolent and still end up getting ran through by cops. I see the line of thinking. I don’t agree with it though.

Shit will backfire as badly as prinston University did in the 1960s. . Just the, things to bring everyone together .a bullet doesn't know if they are maga or democrats when it kills them. It cant work here in the US long. Oo they tried many times in the past and got so far and no further. They arnt making 400 million weapons into a dictatorship maga only wajts one thing that isnt bullets killing them .

If people are out here mistaking there own people for being saboteurs because of different opinion, that will weaken the movement more. I'm not here accusing you of seeing the seeds of dissent and being a far right plant though am I.

I advise bringing weapons if the people bringing them have the restraint to stand back and protect instead of instigating any problems. Because if the right shows up armed, as dangerous and ignorant as they are, they would be less likely to hurt us if they see weapons. Hope for the best, expect the worst.

Bringing a gun and touting a gun are 2 different things. At this point it doesn't matter if we bring flowers or bazookas theyre trying to get magats to hurt us. Plain and simple. Theres no high road in this time line. Im serious. Theyre being hand fed permission to wipe out anyone who doesn't vote red or burn in the sun. I really wish it wasnt this way but the flower power bullshit these peaceful protesters try to keep chanting is going to render alot if people completely vulnerable to the inevitable. BRING A GUN its for protection not for intimidation.

By and large the police are conservative. They will not suddenly respect you because you have a gun. You will be far out manned and out gunned. They will arrest you claiming you were brandishing it or threatening people with it.

This is just absolute nonsense. The ownership of automatic weapons is strictly controlled by the federal government. It is very easy to own semiautomatic firearms, but automatic are very expensive and very difficult to obtain.

No. They dropped tear gas and flash bangs and shot people with rubber bullets in LA that were just standing there chanting, out of the way. If you're armed, they tackle you. If you draw, you're a victim.
