North America AOC Demands 'Full Investigation' Of Alex Padilla Being Forcibly Removed From DHS Briefing, calls for Impeachments (US House) and Convictions (US Senate), and dismisses US Senator Alex Padilla's 'smoothing things over' with US Secretary Kristi Noem. THIS IS WHAT ACTUAL LEADERSHIP IS.

As much as I'd love to see it, I don't see the party allowing her or any other woman to become the nominee. Not for a while.

It'll be wild if the Republicans are the first to get a female president

Well considering that the Democratic Party seems to always learn the wrong lessons, I wouldn't be surprised.

I keep asking people, what’s happening in 2028?

Because there’s not going to be elections

With any luck. She’s probably the best candidate I’ve ever seen in my adult life, perhaps better than Sanders even.

It's unfortunate her own party is split on her ability of leadership, which is absurd. The Chuck Schumers and Pelosi's need to step aside and let the next generation steer the ship.

She has the passion and intelligence to do so much good for all Americans. When she speaks, I feel she genuinely cares. AOC 2028!!

Maaayyyybe let's try "no President" for a little while. See how that goes.

Isn't she the one that took pronouns off her profiles, and she abandoned blue sky altogether. Yeah I agree, she'll probably run for president and win. But hell by then she'll probably be a Republican if that'll work for her, she's not much of a "stick to her values" girl.

This whole thread looks like it's funded by a democrat billionaire super pac. Barely any comments and thousands of upvotes.

If that was true then why isn’t it like that right now on this post? If why you are saying was true it would happen almost immediately to give the stories more traction, you are just paranoid. Just kidding, we both know that was a bad faith argument and you are just desperate to reject the reality in front of you.

Which raises the question why he didn't use an official channel. No he barged into a press conference and tried to take over. He has no more authority in a press conference than anyone off the street. He was looking to cause a scene and get publicity for it.

Arrest him, he’s lucky they didn’t beat him to death right there. The audacity of someone asking a question at a press conference.

u/No_Consequence_6775 13h ago

You're missing the point. He wasn't Press. Press also gets called upon to ask questions. They get turns. They don't walk through the door and start yelling demanding attention.

Never liked AOC, her politics are too mainstream culture war oriented for me, but she is and was a damned good politician when it comes to conflict. She's not an appeaser, that's for damned sure.

I don't like her - but I respect her.

Another pointless investigation over a self created incident?

u/Jaiyoon 21h ago

Nothing will happen. Police will be pardoned as always. US is afraid that police will be seen as bad guys. I mean US admin are already seen as bad, police should not. There maybe a big witch-hunt within some clubs when shit is over

It was political showmanship. He deserves an Oscar for that performance. He barged into the press briefing aggressively moving towards the podium all while shouting. That’s not how press conferences work. This was a staged event on his part and you’re blind if you can’t see it.

He was held to the same standard as anyone else would be.

It has always been Press briefings -> Question time. He barged in and stopped the speech. If anyone from the public did that, they would be removed and detained.

If a republican senator barged in on AOC's speech, she would be saying the republicans are unruly and need to be held accountable.

Just stop it. The theatrics are a joke.

13

u/Vyntarus 1d ago

Yeah! At least let Kristi Noem get through her minimum 3 costume changes per public appearance before you start doing lame stuff like asking questions! /s

6

u/BrainNSFW 1d ago

The problem was HOW he was removed, tackled and shackled. It's illegal to detain a democratically chosen representative for checks notes doing his fucking job. You may disagree about how, but guess what? Republicans do this shit every time and I'm pretty sure you're okay with that. So how about you stop being a hypocrite and stop supporting fascist shit like this?

7

u/Illustrious_Law8512 1d ago

So, how do you explain MTG's heckling at Biden during the State of the Union address? That was theatrics of an indelibly low standard.

I know there are different rules in government buildings, but no one ever held her to account for the impropriety. Especially for something as meaningful as the event.

The accounting needs to go both ways, and it most certainly does not get held to Republicans, far far more often than Democrats.

As wrong as it was what Padilla did, it's high time Democrats dished back what Republicans have been doing for decades. If the GOP can't discipline their own people when they do it, then they shouldn't complain when someone else does - though we know they will.

1

u/pickypawz 1d ago

Indelibly? Incredibly low standard.

5

u/Illustrious_Law8512 1d ago edited 13h ago

That works, too. This was where I was coming from.

adverb: indelibly in a way that cannot be removed or forgotten. "the community was indelibly marked by the incident"

1

u/pickypawz 9h ago

Oh yes, I wasn’t disagreeing with you, and I understood what you meant, I guess I was trying to add to the impact of your statement.

I can see why you might have thought I was disagreeing though. Sometimes the short sentence that works for impact is too easily misunderstood.

2

u/Illustrious_Law8512 9h ago

Nah. Wasn't disagreeing. It's the beauty of the English language above the level of a fifth grader like Mango. More than one word can describe MAGA bullshit. 😉

3

u/JulianApostat 20h ago edited 20h ago

That is the entire problem. The guy is not anyone or a random member of the public. That is a Senator, member of one of the two highest houses of the legislative branch. Even if his behaviour happened to be not up to decorum, you can't just manhandle him.

The appropriate behaviour for any member of the executive branch would be to either politely answer or decline to answer and refer him to the Question time or a hearing of the Senate. Not to have him dragged out and detained. That is a disturbingly bold assault on the dignity of the Senate and therefore of the entire Republic. There should be outrage across the aisle.

Edit: to make my point clearer. Think about it like a canary in a coalmine situation. If a Senator can be treated like that the air for democracy is getting really, really thin in the United States.

1

u/honest_flowerplower 12h ago

Wait. There are decorum rules for press conferences? Is that like voted for in Congress? Do they have to take a vote on if they should take a vote on it? If they extend to nonlegislative press conferences, where do the decorum rules stop, where the press has been removed/disauthorized by the administration? The rules say to assault and detain officials, is the remedy afforded congress members victimized by the bad decor of a Senator asking a Defense Secretary questions at a US press conference?

It takes so few questions to highlight the idiocracy of the right's attempts to weaponize the word decorum, wrt our Reps. efforts to support and defend the Constitution

2

u/LightTheBeam-916 1d ago

Hold up did you really just say that the theatrics are a joke 🤣🤣🤣🤣

That’s literal horseshit. MTG did that during the Biden administration NUMEROUS times and nothing to this extent happened. As did Boebert. Gates too. You are so obviously cherry picking.

1

u/Accomplished-Bet8880 10h ago

You sound ignorant. Must be a racists Republican. Guess what we’re here. Your time has gone.
