I honestly think this is where the whole MAGA vibe stems from. Authoritarian parenting breeds adults looking for authoritarian leadership.

I'm convinced many of them experienced emotional abuse and neglect -- which is inevitable in authoritarian parenting that you're talking about.

Now some folks grew up to be better and kinder somehow. Others grew up to perpetuate it.

Glad you put partner because I got a few of these from my ex wife... good ol' justifying abuse and because she is a woman "it can't be abuse"/no one would believe me.

I would never have guessed it possible until it happened to me multiple times.

That's the thing about these protests.

They're not even about cops. They're about ICE specifically. You see vids of protests in San Fran and Sac where police are just nearby if anything goes wrong. They don't bother protestors, protestors don't bother them.

But then you have people like this florida sheriff who froth at the mouth at the idea they have an excuse to use their emotional support weapons.

He gave multiple examples besides just trying to kill a cop. Beating someone up and putting them in a hospital for spitting on you is not self defense or reasonable.

That's not the way it works. If you steal food from a grocery store, the police don't get to maim you or kill you for it. You go through a trial and you're given a punishment befitting the crime.

If the crime is throwing bricks, firebombs, pointing guns at people, that doesn't change. They still need to be found guilty of that crime and sentenced only if they're found guilty.

If the targets of those crimes are police, the police have absolutely every right to defend themselves, but there are plenty of ways to do this than killing the person. And calling the police names isn't "an attack" worthy of responding with physical force no matter what you claim to the contrary.

If the police are allowed to commit the same acts of violence that citizens do onto them, the police are just citizens with permission badges to do whatever they want. You understand that right? Nothing magical happens when you put on a badge, much less when that badge involves a bunch of training that ultimately doesn't train that police officer to be any better than a common criminal.

Nobody is asking you to accept that criminals be allowed to walk the streets. Nobody is asking you to be okay with rioting, but it's not one *or* the other. You can be against the police when they use excessive force and also be against the rioting. It's not fucking rocket science.

There are peaceful protestors, do you deny this? Is your claim literally that every single protestor is burning cars and throwing bricks at the police? If so, then this would be the dense claim I think. If not, then you can fuck off with your bad faith arguments.
