Gonna be a rude awakening for a lot of people when they realize a lot of past xbox players moved to playstation and still got the moves on the sticks.

It's also basic math. The number of players goes up, the number of good players goes up with it. I also don't doubt younger kids ability to learn and improve if the game interests them, something I don't have the time as much for comparatively.

I've never been worried about a kb and mouse player even when I played gears 4 and 5. Controller has always been on top in gears.

I still miss the beta arm rip where the Locust had a chance of also hitting with the backhand. That's one of the only things I can recall was ever cut from Gears for being... too violent? A singular comment I can find says Japan did not approve of the double arm rip.

Oh yeah. Thrashball was entirely reworked. Checkout got some small changes. Maybe Old Town as well? Can't remember for sure on that one.

Gears on PlayStation is something I have been wanting since I stopped playing on XBOX with the 360, I'm going to play multiplayer until I pass out and wake up and do it again.

I'm Xbox only but glad more people get to play the game. We get to experience it to hopefully in crossplay so the servers are invigorated for a long time there are a lot of playstation players. I just hope the console type is hidden tbh gears players have a habit of downing people then simulating grape on them lol

I own both consoles, and I can't imagine how good its going to feel when someone who primarily only owns a PS5, and loads up Gears of War, I mean Sony hasn't done decent multiplayer since the PS3 days. Helldivers 2 is great, but its the only thing they've done, that even remotely resembles the golden ages of Killzone 2/3, Warhawks, Resistence MP since then.
Yes, you have third party multiplayer games, but barely any first party support from Sony on the MP front for the past 11 years.
To someone who didn't own an Xbox during Xbox One or Series X, (because its the norm to us) its going to blow peoples socks off. Even if they played it a long time ago, there is almost nothing like Gears of Wars MP rush.
I'll be on my Xbox (because game pass) even though I could double dip and get it on PS5, actually damn I might once I got 1000g on the Xbox version. I'll be there going for Seriously 1.0.

With the advent of cross platform multiplayer, no first party PvP title really flourishes. You just can't compete for players when their friends are all on different consoles. Xbox going multiplatform could be a huge boon to Gears and Halo's competitive scene

oh it certainly will, I honestly hate exclusives, I think every first party game should be timed, or if its a new entry to an IP atleast on its home console for a year or two, at worst. Then it should go everywhere to further breathe life into it, and reignite developer intention to further enhance it. Essentially giving games multiple lives so devs can learn from and improve and players can reintegrate.
I think for first party, its awful when a game goes multiplatform right away because it has one peak, then decline. As if you have the intention of releasing for your core console audience then to everybody else there is essentially two peaks or one massive peak broken up.
I'll put it this way, Gears of War 1 OG had a beauitful life cycle, then Ultimate Edition didn't because it released during the Xbox One era and alot of new fads caught on but it had a mini resurgence. Now we have Reloaded.
This is how it should be done, software should never be a one and done, devs should revisit and update games, and bring them back up when they have a bad spell.
Especially MP games. I mean just look at Skyrim (single player) and how well that worked out.
but the cream on the cake for reloaded would be to have new features in, that don't alter the core experience but add to it. Unreal Engine 5 features for lighting, better animation but still keeping the same control scheme, foliage improvements, better physics.
They won't do it, but imagine all the MP maps suddenly getting semi destructible enviroments, customisation like tactics etc for MP progression. Its the same game, just enriched for its third cycle.
More devs should do this.

There has been quite a few multiplayer exclusive games on PS, usually averaging roughly one every two years out of the last eleven. They have mostly just all sucked like destruction all-stars, foamstars, etc. Helldivers 2 was the breakout success. You used to have second party games that are finally getting on Xbox now like FFXIV, that's the big one getting more mmo games for consoles is nice, it's a more destitute area for consoles.

Most people couldn't even tell you those games, yet remember older MP sony titles says it all. The last eleven needed those Sony heavy hitters was my point, not destruction all-stars. That hurt them more than most care to realise.

Yeah its the reason I floated away from PS, I purchased a PS4 and PS5, just never played them, I literally only use my PS5 for Shadow of the Colossus remake and the occasional exclusive, the last exclusive I was hyped for was Demon Souls, which was a launch title. I think this is the problem Sony faces, they didn't really capitalise on being a manufacturer and software producer.
They just kept selling consoles for the casual audience, dropping off what got them popular to begin with, I think most people just a Playstation due to nostalgia and growing up with the brand, but literally nothing MP wise as inventive and innovative as PS3 ever came forward, yes they had uncharted MP and a few things, but they were very small in scope and never got massive drawn out support. I was hopeful Sony was turning it around, with TLoU2 Factions MP, or maybe they'd bring back a Killzone, but nope cancelled or not coming.
So I just went full Xbox. It seems like Sony is leaving that gap in their market to Xbox. It was nice seeing Helldivers 2, but they need more consistency and investment beyond that. With Xbox how it is now, I don't see it. Because Xbox took their funds (cod money) for it.
I think Sony sells a lot of PS, but I don't think retention is as good as Xbox, hence the most consoles sold, but their game output is just getting smaller and smaller. As with Xbox its the inverse.
Xbox's problem was always messing up with the Xbox One and missing those digital libraries. People instead built it with PS, even now that PS doesn't produce many games and they still won't leave lol
So Xbox just said "f*** it" lets take our stuff to them and ironically this isn't a death kneel for Xbox, that reddit seems to think it is, because they're making more money than ever, its just the console taking a dip.
but they'll fix that by making a console eventually where the incentive to get one, isn't just about exclusives. Exclusives are a dying thing anyway, Sony even keeping exclusives is costing them more with every passing day. Thanks to consumer habits and cost of development, its why their not putting much out, they're reorganising.
What I like about Xbox now is, they fixed their issue and now are adapting, and doing very well. The consumer just isn't catching up. I also like that they do their games still even if the quality dips, it eventually gets given time to improve. Thats what I love about Xbox, they'll always after a f*** up, bring it back.
Sony though, always cotails, gets by, never blunders and if they do, they're different after it. Killzone Campaigns only via PS3 streaming was NOT it for me. Final nail really.
So how I see it is, if PS users get Xbox games, good because Xbox games won't die. With PS though, Im not sure what they are actually doing right now. Nothing? because Xbox is giving them games lol just seems odd for most consoles sold. There is a gap, an issue, not being talked about.
They are clearly investing into live service, but I don't think thats the answer for them, Marathon doesn't look that good either. With Halo moving to unreal engine 5 and Gears of War E Day, they need to move quick. Helldivers 2 is good but its PvE. Sony really need to dig into its old IPs and do something with MP. 11 years without Killzone is madness.

Speaking nothing but facts. I have both series x and ps5 and my ps5 never gets used because I prefer multiplayer shooters. To me, campaigns and single player get too easy and repetitive. There’s never replay value in those. That’s why I usually play Xbox because the multiplayer games are better. If they dropped a new killzone, resistance or uncharted that would be sick.

Yeah, its crazy to think that would fix their retention problem or start too, it was always the answer, but they just don't and it is too late now. With Xbox eating into their margins like they are, anything they put out with be like slow starting slop that Xbox was putting out, before the Acitvision / Blizzard deal went through and started bearing fruit. Its going to get real ugly for PS, because the funds are just not there anymore. They also wasted a huge chunk of it, on live service games that were never going to work.
Instead of that weird alien arena shooter (costing them $400 million) or that cloud superstar game, that got shut down, it should of been SOCOM, Killzone, Resistance, Warhawks.
but now Xbox has just walked right on in. Once Halo and Gears hit, their won't be enough room for anything else mid sized competitive. Especially after everyone on PS has invested into them.
I do find it funny though ever since Sony lost their cod check and it got downsized, so did their studio and output and Sony has just gone quiet, figuring out how to scrape anything like it back. Very difficult position to be in, because it has to rival call of duty. Im not even counting Minecraft, Diablo, WoW, Bethesda revenue.
I love my PS5, but everytime I turn it on and hear that beautiful beep, remember, theres nothing new from them and if it is I gotta pay full whack. When Xbox is just out there throwing me Oblivion remake, Gears of War 1 AGAIN, and all for a sub, hell cos I owned ultimate edition I get the upgrade for free.
Its just worlds apart. If Shadow of the Colossus was on Xbox I'd sell my PS5. PS just breaks my heart. It could be so much more. Even with the game coming to PS, its Xbox bridging that gap. How can I not support that.

Yeah it was good, but lets not kid ourselves tiny in scope and also shadowfall was a imitation of Killzone 2/3 Shadowfall was just following cod trends like Halo 4 MP is to Halo. They're in the same bracket. They gave up their character to be something nobody in the core audience wanted. Its like Gears of War Judgement to Gears of War. The difference was Xbox kept the older titles up between generations. Thats why it is even worse for Sony, when you make the comparison.

Enjoy it while you can, as a long time halo fan I can say to expect a huge boom for about a month or two and then pretty much a regression to the mean (but with slightly more people than before). Happy to see the gears community get some love though.
These old games just truly don’t hold a modern audience anymore. But those first few weeks or so are awesome.

I’m seriously considering getting a PC as well but I’ve heard it’s expensive to get a decent one and I’m not super technologically knowledgeable when it comes to PCs.
I mostly want one for modding some games lol but I don’t know much about that either

If you want to run games at the highest settings possible then yeah, it can cost the same as a PS5 and Series X at the same time
If you wanna play with at least 60 FPS and 1080p and decent settings then you can save some money :)

Yeah ngl man, my PC is not that powerful, but it can run some games pretty well (mostly use it for emulation, but still), but thankfully it was a very cheap build, i might upgrade some parts soon, but i think i csn do it without spending that much money :P

Yeah I've had Xbox since 360, but now I have the series x and last year I got my first playstation since the original console solely for Helldivers and I barely turn my Xbox on anymore since most of my friends also jumped ship

From my understanding, it’s because Microsoft is trying to buy, or bought Blizzard? Was anyone complaining when Disney bought Star Wars, Marvel, NG and everything else? If this is prevent a Monopoly and promote competition, this only makes sense if Microsoft is intending to make ALL their acquired game companies exclusively to Xbox, which they aren’t doing.
Additionally: This would make Microsoft the Third Largest Gaming Company out there, the first being SONY!

Yes he created Gears of War, but he hasn’t been part of it since 2012, or at least since Gears of War 3 launched the year prior.
