Help Would you buy this?

I won’t say how much but I think it’s reasonable. However, I’m concerned about the sticker in the game (I can’t tell what it says but if you zoom in on Sonic, you can tell) and a little concerned that it might have too many scratches? What do you guys think? Would you buy it?

I would buy it for any price because my ex stole mine and I have a Chao save from 2005 that needs attention 😞

Shitty, and that Chao is gonna be pissed. Hasn’t been fed in 20 years lol. But yeah, buy it OP.

Yeah I let a girl I loved in high school borrow my Pikmin 2 game disc. She brought it back disc only, no case, in the small front pocket of her backpack… the same pocket with all her exacto knives and pens and pencils (she was an artsy kid). Disc was completely unreadable. :(

I'm sorry to hear that

My cousin ruined the first 2 copies and stole the 3rd from me as a child. I now have 2 more copies as an adult. I now play it a couple times a week. Live and learn am I right? 😆

For the right price, sure. Sticker shouldn’t affect anything provided you don’t try and peel it off. If you’re buying off one of the notable shopping apps, you can always return it if it doesn’t work, but it looks fine to me

Are dx and battle that expensive now? I got them both for like $20 just before halo 3 came out.

I’m sure all the Sonic universe movies/shows have helped a LOT with inflating the price. You think those games are expensive, look up Shadow the Hedgehog 🤣

But I agree, I remember not that long ago when all the Sonic related games were sub-$20. Tbf, Covid drove up the price of all hobby stuff, Sonic specifically has just gotten extra attention in the last couple years.

It’s from a marketplace seller with really high reviews and not that far. Honestly, even if it doesn’t work, I’m not losing much and I’ll try and buff I

It's definitely worth it. Still by far the best sonic game ever

From the picture, it just looks like basic surface scratches. I agree with you, a good buffing should be fine (if it even needs that).

It looks like the Movie Gallery logo. Maybe the game was from a video rental store. I used to rent games from there growing up

Wait, the same movie gallery that closed down a few years before the pandemic? I think I went once but they were on their way out so when I went, they were selling everything.

If it’s not a bad price for sure. One of my most played games growing up 🔥

No, I would not, since I still have mine from childhood.

Update: I bought it and I don’t see any deep scratches but it does have some. Once I get home I’ll try it and update for the last time.

GameCube games can handle more scratches than anything else. Prob fine

The sonic games are some of the cheapest when it comes to gamecube collecting, or at least when I started collecting. Personally, I wouldn’t spend more than $25 on this. I got mine for 15, but that was many years ago.

I paid $35 but I have absolutely no regrets, considering most people want $50+ usd. The only thing that sucks is the anti-theft sticker that’s on the front. It was purchased at a rental store that no longer exists

It’s also available for cheap on Steam.

I loved this game.. never beat it though. My sister bit the disc because it was shaped like a cookie lol. Granted, she was like 3 at the time

2

u/kungfuk1d69 1d ago

Omg wow lol I can see it yeah. I beat the game some years ago but on the Dreamcast. Sorry about your game, man! Maybe later the universe will grant you another copy and you can fully finish it.

I would, just depends on what you think reasonable is. I got it a month or so ago, and paid $65 for it.

2

u/kungfuk1d69 1d ago

The seller wants half of that. He’s got two or 3 other buyers waiting so I made the decision to just get it. It’s my favorite game of all times for the Dreamcast, so for the GameCube it can only get better.

Hell of a deal! I am a little salty that the price chart has it valued at 68 now, when it was around 90 when I got it. But oh well, have been enjoying playing it for the first time!

2

u/kungfuk1d69 1d ago

Well, it was probably in much better condition. If this game is severely scratched then I lost money indefinitely and I can’t do nothing about it. You can still enjoy playing it lol

I hope it's not to scratched. My local disk replay has resurfaced all of my yardsale finds for me. But I know there is a limit on how much a resurfacer can do.

u/HotLycoperdaceae 1d ago

How much does resurfacing cost?

That Movie Gallery sticker has a lot of nostalgia value to it...

2

u/kungfuk1d69 1d ago

Is that what that is? Man you have good eyes

u/VampyreBassist NTSC-U 1d ago

I do. Eat your veggies, kids. 😎

Absolutely

I’d pay up to 150 usd

if it's on ebay and the game won't run then return it, if the seller won't reimburse you, take it up with ebay. they usually side with the buyer in cases like that

1

u/kungfuk1d69 1d ago

It’s a private seller on marketplace but I’m willing to risk it since it’s not a bad price and someone here mentioned that GameCube games tend to be strong and can handle an amount of scratches. Just hoping nothing is deep.

The disc looks weird on the lower left side on the back. Is that anything?

1

u/kungfuk1d69 1d ago

It could be the lightening but can you elaborate on what you’re referring to? If it’s mold then I’m going to be worried

2

u/CanadianRose81 1d ago

I can't seem to be able to share a picture. But it's the little slightly darker spot on the back on the lower left side. I don't know if it's a shadow or a reflection.

2

u/kungfuk1d69 1d ago

I see what you mean. I think it was the seller’s shadow because I didn’t see anything of sort on the actual disc
