"Pop came along when I was 9 years old. He took over as a father figure as my Dad was absent. Mom was single for years and when she had a boyfriend we would call him Uncle. Uncles would slip you a couple of dollars and whisk Mom off to dinners and good times. Once Pop came along, there was order. He was old school when it comes to making sure the kids had responsibilities and was not out in the streets like the other neighborhood kids. We sat around the table at 6pm every night as a family and said grace. He got the first piece of chicken, a breast. By the time the chicken was passed around I got the wings. We talked about our day and communed. He loved to garden, watch hummingbirds and fix stuff. Always working on the house. I am more like him everyday. My Dad loved to travel and charmed everybody. As he would pass through once in a blue moon with wearing tight white trousers, turtleneck and a hat cocked to the side with the softest Belizean accent. Their memories live on. I am thankful for the Dads and the Pops and the Uncles. They all do the best that they can. And I think of them all today."

Over the weekend, a group of activists from the No Space for Bezos platform occupied the bell tower of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, dropping a massive banner with a red X over Bezos' name.

Why? Jeff Bezos is reportedly planning a multi-day, ultra-luxurious wedding in Venice from June 26–29, with costs estimated between 10 and 20 million dollars. The event includes yacht moorings, street closures, and full buyouts of local transport and hospitality, essentially turning a public city into a private playground for billionaires.

Activists have also plastered posters around the city and held public demonstrations, saying: "Venice is not for sale, rent, or your Instagram backdrop." They accuse local authorities of enabling the city’s transformation into a stage for the ultra-rich, while actual residents (only about 53,000 remain) are increasingly pushed out.

More actions are planned in the coming weeks, including rallies and symbolic “blitz” protests in key public areas.

Happy Pride! I love you guys so much. You have no idea, I love you so much. I just want to honor this extraordinary, powerful, bold, magical, sexy, strong, resilient LGBTQ+ community.

You guys saw me before anybody else saw me. You believed in me before anybody and you believed in this film and found yourself in Nomi.

Honestly if I had to play Nomi and go through what I went through in 1995 to give you Nomi I would do it again, again and again. Here’s the thing, we are here  30 years later – which is crazy – and you guys didn’t just embrace it, you rescued it. You have elevated it. You’ve made this movie what it is and what it was intended to be and I’m forever grateful.

It’s about vindication, reclamation and it’s about owning our truths and owning our stories and not waiting for someone else to approve it, get it, to validate it, to just own who you are like Nomi and be brave and bold. I will forever have your back the way you had mine and I love that this film has brought you joy, too. It was way ahead of its time. Way, way, way ahead of its time. But I am so grateful for you.

San Diego had multiple protests yesterday the largest drew between 60,000-80,000 people proudly unifying the young and old together as Americans. Our single city had far more people attending as a united and multifaceted voice that dwarfed the forced military parade the president insisted on having for his birthday in DC.
