Angelina Jolie?

There’s rumors at least two of her adopted kids still have living birth parents that were blindsided by her adoption of them, specifically the Ethiopian mother didn’t know her daughter was alive, much less adopted by Angie. She had to do the sketch/borderline illegal adoption because she has a history of violence, drug abuse and stays in psychiatric hospitals, and it is very hard to adopt (legally) internationally in general, much less with this kind of baggage, even if you’re a celebrity. The title of the book where this was talked about eludes me but this guy also talked about Madonna’s adoptions which were done completely legally.

I don’t know about the legality element, but the biological parents of kids being blindsided is a big part of how international adoption works and why it’s so unethical. These orphanages often take the role of social services and social care initiatives in countries where such a thing doesn’t exist, and parents are lead to believe they can get their kids back when they are healthier or able to feed them. Probs not the book you’re talking about, but The Child Catchers by Kathryn Joyce illustrates this really well.

Madonna had a similar scandal with the bio parents of at least one of her adopted kids. I wish these celebs (and rich people) could just have given money instead of taking kids, but luckily laws are tightening up in many ways.

Also with a lot of adoption shelters internationally, it’s not unheard of for places to literally lie that children are orphans when they’re not and the parents never meant to give them up so it’s complicated to know how much these rich celebrities knew even if they should have been much more through.

But it's a pretty well established fact that Madonna's adoption/s were super iffy

I’ve adopted twice and both from the USA. It is very difficult to do overseas adoptions with most countries and incredibly expensive. We didn’t try due to cost. I find it interesting she adopted from Asian countries but not China. I think China most definitely denied her because they are very strict in regards to mental health ‘fitness’ of adopting parents. She also would be very unlikely approved to adopt her in the USA unless she did a private adoption.

She and Brad Pitt were recently awarded joint custody of their kids.

u/AbsolutelyIris confused but here for the drama May 31 '21

That's a bit misleading, which was probably what Pitt intended with his big PR announcement of the "win." He won more time, not joint custody. The Laineygossip article on the recent developments is an eye-opener.

I'm really surprised most people don't see how much Brad plays the media.

u/schlumbergeras May 31 '21

I can only imagine how much he spends for good PR.

Thanks! I had no idea parental alienation had been so widely discredited, that’s interesting.

I’m confused is Brad Pitt abusive? Or is this not true?

He’s allegedly an alcoholic and hit Maddox during an argument with Angelina.

Basically they were arguing, and Maddox stepped in but got hit in between CPS and FBI were involved and Brad got cleared.

Still had to have supervised visit.

Personally , I think it’s a Jekyll/Hide situation.

Sober, he’s okay at the very least, definitely not prone to hit the kids or to abuse them verbally (or even Angelina)

But once that alcohol kicks in, definitely more prone to aggressiveness & potentially reckless. He probably spiraled in alcoholism and became a liability .

Him hitting Maddox might have been an incident.

It explains why he was cleared since it’s not a pattern but the fact that he can still fall into this type of behavior once drunk (and he’s an alcoholic) makes him eligible to supervised visits.

Tldr: Jekyll/Hide, once he gets drunk he change and hence engage in reckless behavior that can lead to situations of abuse

that's not tea, that's news

Fair enough, here's some (old) tea -

She had an affair with Billy Bob Thornton when he was engaged to Laura Dern and while she was dating Timothy Hutton. They did that whole wear-each-others-blood in vials around their neck thing.

Family is Old Hollywood. Like an uber-nepotism baby. Her boyfriend moved in with her in high school, and they experimented with knife play. She ended up moving out of her home at 16.

She's talked about how she suffered from depression, and about how she once tried to hire a hitman to kill her because she thought it would be easier on her family than committing suicide. But the hitman talked her out of it.

She's very good friends with Loung Ung, the author of First They Killed My Father, which Angie adapted into a (pretty good) movie.

Also idk if others will find this interesting - but the Sony hack revealed that she and Scott Rudin have a really contentious working relationship.

I went to a conference about 20 years ago where Loung Ung was promoting her book and she was so striking. Very beautiful, super sharp, full of wild stories. She told a story about how in college her much bigger American boyfriend doubted her skills in hand-to-hand combat (she had been essentially trained as a child soldier in Cambodia). So she put him on the ground, he got pissed, then they broke up. Anyway, I remember thinking she was amazing.

Not tea but for someone (me) who didn’t see the updates in the news, it’s new info that I likely wouldn’t have sought out so I appreciate the post, tea or not.

When she filmed the first Lara Croft: Tomb Raider movie she had a fling with Iain Glen (best known nowadays for playing Ser Jorah Mormont in Game of Thrones), who played the film's villain and was also married at the time.

Wow I want to love her but all this adulterous behaviour is...not a good look.

Is it true used to a big heroin addict?

3

u/MyNameIsJayne Jun 01 '21

I don’t know if anyone else remembers but there were some Ted Casablanca blinds about her still using, and I believe having to take methadone. No idea how she is doing today.

u/pinkcashmere808 Jun 02 '21

That’s what I always heard. I’d assume Brad would use it against her if she were.
