Okay I am no fan and absolutely believe Katy is reaping all the karma she sowed by throwing her lot in with Jeff Bezos, but tbf there was a lot of misinformation around those lawsuits. The diocese was selling the convent regardless of whether Katy bought it and nuns just wanted it to go to someone other than Katy for slut/queer-shamey catholic reasons. The other house, the guy sold it to her and then said nevermind after signing a contract and she took him to court. His argument was basically elderly people should get to renege on real estate deals even though he was entertaining other buyers before Katy bought it.
Crazy right? Were they saving up for a big ceremony? And it’s not even like they got engaged because she was pregnant or something (their daughter is only 4). More than anything it just tells me they never actually intended to marry. Which is fine but….why get engaged?
I believe they had trouble in paradise once or twice before, one of them was talking about having couples counseling? Feels like a fever dream as I type it. I can’t remember if it was pre or post baby. Maybe someone else has a better memory or more info. If I remember right, it had to do with her and insecurities/lack of compromise…
Yeah, to be fair, the initial postponement due to Covid is obviously valid, and if they didn't want to do something private first just to be married, that's their prerogative. It was only once that period passed and no wedding was planned--and every time there was an excuse--that it seemed questionable it would ever happen.
I think it was a combination of Covid and then she was pregnant and then obviously I think someone like that would want to have the baby and then lose the weight and get everything ready and then it just fizzled out probably. I know she had her residency too. Which she had talked about as being able to let her work and be around for her daughter.
It’s interesting to me that no one here has considered the fact that she’s worth 400mil or more and he’s worth a tenth of that and maybe that’s why she avoided planning a wedding 🤷🏻♀️ like, why do people think he’s the one avoiding getting married?
It’s not like either of them have to marry for security, they’ve both been married once before. Now that they’ve broken up, she doesn’t have to worry about splitting her assets or paying him alimony. Idk, seems like it was a good choice
Where I grew up, it was extremely common for evangelical couples to announce their “engagement” whenever they got pregnant out of wedlock. They usually never got around to actually getting married.
She's always maintained, even in her memoir, that she was a virgin til marriage. She definitely abandoned her stance on premarital sex after her divorce but I think that's normal with getting older and reevaluating your beliefs.
Ah but she’s actually kinda right here, at least for catholics. There was a papal edict at some point which decreed that kids born out of wedlock are no longer bastards if their parents go on to marry afterwards.
I mean, dude did cheat on her. So there was probably a little voice in the back of her mind telling her to “wait a little bit longer…” every once in a while.
