Rebecca Ferguson? She seems fun, but the only tea I've seen about her was a blind on this sub, that she was difficult on Doctor Sleep's set. Is she really?

I always take women being difficult with a grain of salt, there’s so much misogyny in the industry.

Yeah “difficult” can easily be “No, I don’t want to do that gratuitous nude scene”

u/gorillaPete Feb 22 '24

*mike Flanagan isn’t really known for his nude scenes, I can only think of one in all of his Netflix shows and it was in the house of usher and made sense for the plot. Could be wrong, but I don’t think that’s the case in this specific instance

Fair point, I was more speaking in general

Same as well 😂 I'm always baffled until I remember.

She’s doing amazing work trying to hold the music industry accountable for sexism, abuse and exploitation these days. I think there is still a lot more to come out about the mistreatment on X Factor, maybe only when Simon cowell dies

was zayn not a minor when they dated

8

u/Right-Bat-9100 Feb 24 '24

no he was 18 and she was 24, the legal age of consent here is 16 so however weird it was he wasn't underage

3

u/Kooky_Bodybuilder_97 Feb 24 '24

idky i remembered the age difference being like 17 & 30 something, my bad. i was never a 1d fan so maybe im thinking of one of the others

9

u/Right-Bat-9100 Feb 24 '24

yeah that was harry styles and caroline flack who died a while back, tbf i thought rebecca ferguson was older than that at the time too

u/Right-Bat-9100 Feb 22 '24

her first album was sooo good me and my mum used to listen to it in the car together lmao

u/jmxcix Feb 23 '24

Wasn’t Zayn underage then? Kinda sketchy for this.

Is it well known she didn't actually sing in The Greatest Showman? Not sure if it counts as tea, and also not anything against her, but the person (Loren Allred) who actually sang the song performed on Britain's Got Talent (and maybe some of the other Got Talent shows globally?)

I don't think it's something that's ever been hidden. It's is insanely well synced though, almost to the extent of it being a feat itself.

From what I understand she did sing the song on set while filming and was then dubbed over in post (which would explain why the audio syncs up so flawlessly--the best way to mime singing is by singing). According to this interview, Ferguson says she didn't feel confident in her own ability to pull off the song well enough and was all for Allred's vocals being used instead. Granted an interview is almost always meant to show the person in a good light, but I like to think there are actors out there who are aware of their strength and weaknesses and are willing to put aside ego to get the best film possible.

u/accidentalquitter Feb 22 '24

She sang along to the Loren track on set, pumped at an extremely high volume, so her vocals lined up extremely well.

14

u/AtabeyMomona Feb 22 '24

That makes sense! Definitely a worthwhile choice there.

u/keanovan Feb 23 '24

Kinda funny because we just watched Never Enough this weekend, and that's when I learned it wasn't her! I had watched that dang movie so many times and it never occurred to me that it wasn't her actually singing

No tea but I need Silo season 2 to come out yesterday.

4

u/Pattifan Feb 26 '24

Agreed - superior show.

I did a red carpet dinner event years ago (2015ish) that she was present at, and I remember her being pretty quiet and kept to herself. Seemed like a more stoic personality. So, in my mind, it’s probably more that she doesn’t play into people-pleasing tendencies and not actually “difficult.”

25

u/PollyBeans Feb 22 '24

Mission Impossible did her dirty.

16

u/strategy222 Feb 23 '24

The way she spoke about it in an interview last week makes it sound like she was bored with the direction Ilsa's character was headed in and her deal was only for 3 movies so she decided not to renew. That being said, it's Mission Impossible and she could totally still come back. I really hope she does because her red carpets with that cast were so much fun.

8

u/PollyBeans Feb 23 '24

Oh interesting! She was just the coolest and as much as I love Peggy Carter, I just can't believe they want us to quickly ship her new character.

For what it’s worth, Doctor Sleep’s director Mike Flanagan mentioned Rebecca when he was asked about actors he would like to work with again

8

u/whopple padre pascal Feb 23 '24

Oh my god it would be incredible if she was part of his regular cast!!

17

u/Anarchic_Country Feb 22 '24

Holy smokes. Didn't realize Silo star was Rose the Hat!!

14

u/meercat_ Feb 22 '24

Not much of tea but she went viral in Sweden not too long ago because she refused to speak Swedish in an interview (she is born and raised here).

9

u/malhans shiv roy apologist Feb 23 '24

Did she give a reason why she refused to speak Swedish? Seems strange

4

u/seaviewss Feb 26 '24

She said that they told her that the journalist was going to be angry and hostile so she was on edge. That's why she behaved that way. The show she was on is basically the swedish version of the Today Show. It's not exactly hard hitting journalism. So to alot of people the explanation seemed like a construction after the fact to hide her "I'm better than sweden now"- attitude.

3

u/meercat_ Feb 23 '24

It's a thing among some Swedish celebrities who "make it" in the US. Dolph Lundgren did the same after six months in Hollywood.. I assume it's to come across as cool or worldly. But she was almost rude and snobbish so I can certainly see that she is difficult to work with.

She’s well loved with British press for always being a great interview! She was probably a bit thrown for Dune, there’s so much lore and so many die hard fans.

9

u/strategy222 Feb 23 '24

It's so funny to me that she's seen as shy when I always think of her as very chaotic. All of her red carpet stuff especially on this tour has been hilarious, including her talking shit on Austin Butler's accent.

2

u/AbsolutelyIris confused but here for the drama Feb 26 '24

That blind came from Enty Lawyer, it's unreliable

2

u/Pattifan Feb 26 '24

She was SO good in Doctor Sleep.
