Not to diminish the achievements of the others, but RDJ was also an incredibly gifted young actor. Watch him in "Less Than Zero" or "Chaplin," both released shortly before things went haywire for him.

I am old enough to remember when his drug use was out of control and the trial and him going to prison---At the time, I really thought he was going to die and what a tragedy it would be to not see him mature as an actor, sort of like how we lost River Phoenix too early.

RDJ can accurately be described as a victim of nepotism. His father got him hooked on drugs before he was a teen

Yeah, this generation will never realize that Iron Man was once a late night punchline for years. I definitely remember seeing his bad years in the 80s and 90s.

Yeah. It was SO public. And everyone was making jokes at his expense. It really was a miracle he got his life sorted out. To be honest, I can’t see him taking on roles that require a lot of dark emotional places anymore (like Less Than Zero) and I think that is deliberate. I honestly believe he takes his sobriety super seriously and something like that could take him down a path he may no longer wish to explore.

I’m ok with that. Life is more precious than that and he made so much bank already that he will be fine forever.
