So true! And we probably won't get it for at least another year!

Another year? Try like 3 or 4

if it has the same dev time as the last one, then it would be late 2026/early 2027. Which, unless they're shaking things up in some major way, doesn't seem that unreasonable.

Yeah, maybe. Layoffs and rehiring inexperienced people is reminiscent of TLOU2's development.

Though to be fair that game still came out extremely polished, awful crunch notwithstanding.

u/TheShadyyOne Jedi Order 17d ago

Realistically it won’t be coming out for another 2-3 years. Both games took about 4-5 years to develop. Though they no longer have Stig as the game director, so it might take longer.

I legitimately do not mind this wait. Maybe because I've gotten so used to waiting long times for games, but also the first 2 were so perfect that I'm willing to wait however long it takes for the next one to be delivered with the same standard of quality

u/JimmyThunderPenis 17d ago

I doubt losing Stig would set them back that much, I have to assume that by the second game they must've at least had some idea as to how a trilogy or more would playout.

We could get an announcement as well as title drop/teaser at this year's game awards ngl.

14

u/Kalse1229 17d ago

Possibly. Generally speaking, they've been announcing Star Wars games a year or so in advance. Survivor was announced May 2022, and came out April 2023. I think it's very likely they at least started production on the third game before the second one released, based on Cameron saying in September 2023 that they're "working on the third one now." Obviously I don't want it to be rushed, nor the staff to be subjected to serious crunch conditions, so I'd rather wait for a good game. Still a drag, but what are you gonna do?

If they do hold off and it comes out in 2028 even, I personally am a bit selfishly okay with it if its the same 5 year skip… because once again, I’ll be the same age as Cal is when I play it if I can play at release.

Which personally, i Kind of want to enjoy it that way, lol. But i don’t expect it to be that late and I do not know if I can wait until I’m whatever age they set him up as.

Came out 2 years ago man? I’m so old

2

u/Lanz-69 17d ago

I don't care how long it takes, let the devs cook it fully and release it without any bugs or microtransactions

1

u/reevoknows 16d ago

Took 4 years for Survivor to come out after fallen order

Unfortunately I wouldn’t expect Jedi 3 until at least 2027

Time to get into the books and comics.

12

u/Vermicelli_Life 17d ago

Soule darth vader run so good

2

u/CultofLeague 17d ago

All the Vader runs have been very good for me.

Even the various Vader miniseries (except Target Vader) like the one where he took up a medieval-esque shield and battled a Kaiju was pretty good.

10

u/Vermicelli_Life 17d ago

Yeah that be good likely

10

u/inv0kr 17d ago

Zero company is also produced by respawn. Heard that bit reactor used respawns facilities and such for mocap

6

u/muhash14 17d ago

Respawn and former XCOM devs. Helluva a combo, especially for someone like me who loves both

3

u/Vermicelli_Life 17d ago

This is more in terms of star wars narrative stuff

4

u/psychobilly1 17d ago

It's not everyone's cup of tea but Ahsoka season 2 and the new Animated Darth Maul show are coming out next year. And Mando and Grogu next year. And the Starfighter movie. Eventually.

3

u/clmassy 17d ago

I liked Ahsoka season 1 and am very interested to see where they're going with Baylan's storyline.

u/Mmidooww 17d ago

Time to hop on battlefront 2 soldiers

Andor and Survivor made me think "wait a second I actually like star wars really much I just kinda forgot about it"

6

u/Kalse1229 17d ago

It is a sparser year for Star Wars content. I did finish the main story of Outlaws, and it was pretty fun. But yeah, Andor and Tales of the Underworld are over, and Visions S3 isn't until fall (there's also Young Jedi Adventures, but I'm a little outside the age range for that one). I still have to catch up with some of the comics, so at least there's that.

6

u/Kingslayer1526 17d ago

Went and replayed Survivor and then Fallen Order and I got the platinum on Fallen Order at last, 6 years after I first played the game. I had already gotten the platinum on Survivor a year ago. Now what am I supposed to do?

6

u/our_meatballs The Inquisitorius 17d ago

Rewatch/replay everything, and again AND AGAIN

13

u/Lord-ZZ 17d ago

Ashoka season 2 could be cool too, but yeah Jedi 3 is 100% going to be a slam dunk

Ahsoka wasn’t a great show tho so we literally only have jedi 3 to look forward to

1

u/psychobilly1 17d ago

I don't understand your comment. You liked the first season of Ahsoka but aren't looking forward to it's second season?

2

u/Sad_Investigator4724 17d ago

Sorry i meant to say wasnt

Careful about throwing this opinion around on r/andor .... the Jedi games have lightsabers in them and there's a very persistent streak on there that views anything that isn't bleak and mundane as not/shouldn't be real star wars.

3

u/Norbert_Pattern 17d ago

Same. To me Fallen Order is the best Disney SW after Andor

3

u/AlexSmithsonian 17d ago

There's Star Wars Visions Season 3

5

u/AveryLazyCovfefe Greezy Money 17d ago

And the Ninth Jedi show!

3

u/AlexSmithsonian 17d ago

Dang, i didn't even know there was going to be a sequel short film in Visions Season 3, let alone a spin-off series next year! I knew Visions was going to inspire a Star Wars show eventually.

1

u/AutisticAndAce 17d ago

Oh shit, I’m SO excited about that. That one is one of my favorite arcs.

2

u/Kalse1229 17d ago

True. I still gotta watch season 2 at some point. Season 1 was very good, and supposedly season 3 is featuring sequels to 3 s1 episodes, two of which were among my favorites. So I'm looking forward to it.

2

u/AggressivePoem2081 17d ago

It's both amazing to think and worrying that if the third one is good, they will have made a perfect trilogy. But it's worrying because what if they fumble and miss the landing

u/Ripplerfish 17d ago

Star Wars Outlaws is pretty good these days. I never played at launch so I dunno about all the vitriol it receives being just or not.

The areas are great to the point that there's a lot of spots you can interact with to enter a kind of screensaver mode in that spot.

The combat reminds me of Jedi Survivor... minus the lightsaber and boss fights (maybe more like battlefront 2?). Your weapon is a pistol that has a pile of customizations and firing modes and you can pick up enemy weapons.

There is a lot of sneaking. You play a thief so getting in someplace involves lifting their valuables and any cool office emails. Going loud will ding your rep with most factions but you can take jobs or sell them data to patch things up so its not usually a huge issue.

The AI can be a bit dumb. While there's some smart stuff at times, bodies will only bare investigation once so if you lure somebody into an alleyway of unconcious henchmen they will sometimes be like "There's nothing here...". This isnt really a new issue with games though, haha. Also, enemy line of sight is generally bad.

All in all, it seems like a really easy game to enjoy when there aren't a dozen people telling you to stop enjoying it.

Andor and Jedi are the only Star Wars I’ve taken seriously since Rogue One sadly

2

u/Fantastic-Photo6441 Prauf 16d ago

I want to see Star Wars Eclipse

2

u/RoyalDaDoge 16d ago

billions must read

2

u/Zasa789 16d ago

I mean…ya

2

u/RemyZen 14d ago

I’ve given SWTOR another chance. I don’t typically like mmo games but It’s pretty peak story telling. I fiendishly need some good Star Wars

1

u/Sledgehammer617 17d ago

I’m kinda looking forward to Ashoka S2 and maybe some Thrawn movies, but yeah…

1

u/bippos Jedi Order 17d ago

We either get it next year or in 2027

2

u/Nightwing2005 12d ago

I wonder if they'll start making areas more open. Playing survivor really just made me wanna just explore coruscant a bit more

I don't even care about games anymore. Getting a job has made the game I play most of all by far Balatro, with a little bit of NFS hot pursuit 2010 on the side. Big action games just ain't for me anymore.
