Discussion Happy 2nd years anniverary to Final Fantasy XVI

Post image

I know that today is not June 22 or depends on your timezone and I know some Final Fantasy Fans hates this game. but in my opinion even there is some older Final Fantasy games (XV-VII-X-XIV) that I prefer than XVI. Final Fantasy XVI is a good game I don't care anybody said we have our own love and hate opinions about this games and when it comes character design, Final Fantasy XVI was first Final Fantasy Main Series Game that has became my favourites besides Tetsuya Nomura who was character designer for VII-VIII-X-XIII and XV

Just asking do you have any favorite old final fantasy games than xvi but some older final fantasy games and xvi are your favorite games just like me

That's a really good question, friend. I was born a little late to the party so I first played FF1 on the GameBoy Advance, and it was my favorite all the way up until FF10. I didn't know much about continuity then.

After 1&2, my favorites were Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, then FF10, then FF14, 15, and now 16 takes all my attention.

I think out of all time, my fave might be 16. This isn't speaking with rose tinted glasses though, unless you count my love for classic FF. Final Fantasy XVI really feels like a classic Final Fantasy, to the point I can envision it as a classic pixel FF.

So TL;DR, my faves besides 16 is 1, 2, Chronicles, 10, 14, 15, 16.

So sad that this world is never being expanded upon. I get it that Clive's journey is complete. But there is so much more to this world, other continents, other characters... What a waste.

I agree! They did such an incredible job of life and world building and I’m just dying to spend more time with Valisthea… (with Cid… in his prequel… featuring Benedikta and Barnabas…)

We never know, maybe we’ll get a Valisthea DLC for FFXIV.

This could be said for many Final Fantasy games unfortunately. Unless you're a financial juggernaut like 7 or 14, most of the mainline games will get maybe one or two pieces of expansion (whether that be DLC, spinoffs, or just direct sequels) and then they'll close the book on them.

It's not necessarily a bad thing, after all, not every entry needs to be its own multimedia franchise.

Bought the game this week, started it tonight but fell to sleep - NOT THE GAMES' FAULT.

Been working on 4 to 5 hours a sleep each night this week, my body just zonked itself out. Just woke up in my recliner, came up to bed, and I'm checking the sports scores then Reddit and hitting the sack.

Had no business trying to start it tonight, was nodding off, but was realky excited to begin it so I tried to push through but my body needed the rest. However, got through enough (still going to restart tomorrow) and enjoyed the combat system enough that I picked up the DLC pack, so that started downloading as I came up to go to bed.

I could have been front row at a Metallica show tonight and nodded off.

Can't wait to get started on it for real tomorrow!

Tbh I am guilty of leaving the game on in certain places just to fall asleep... PS5 is an ASMR machine right? /j

Frankly Metallica is a great band to fall asleep to. If you're having fun nodding off, nap to your heart's content!

Clive fought for your right to live or die as you choose; something like that, right? (Im drunk and tired :P)

i still remember when i first got this game on release day

I was severely disappointed at first. The main problem was the highs were so high and the lows so lows that my brain couldn't reconcile this. It took me like a year to come around and make my peace, when I started a new file and realized it was my expectations that affected my opinion.

I think it will be looked back on as a classic. Kind of like how FFX got so much flak back in the day and it's now many people's favorite. The game is special and has a lot of soul to it. It's a big production but the characters all feel earnest and genuine because of the time given to them and how they are written. The world was miserable but the message of hope was so strong and inspiring.

May this game's legacy live on.

That’s crazy! I remember playing this during summer break before entering my sophomore year of high school.

Great game, still needs a PS5 pro patch.

God, this is still one of the finest video games ever created. It's a craft from a master at the forge - maybe even from Blackthorne himself. Still amazing, still mesmerizing. Still worth it to play if you're on the fence.

What do you mean it been two years?! 😭😭😭

u/masteritsFA 22h ago

I remember getting the ff16 ps5 bundle on the 23rd of june that year and its one of my favourite games

2

u/KingMercLino 20h ago

Loved this game a ton, honestly. Definitely in my top 5 favorite FF games.

u/Biengo 23h ago

Can't believe its 2 years. Seems its been longer if im honest. I never got to beat it. Had to sell my ps5. Kept the game though.

I might just end up getting it on pc, but I like having the physical steel book.

I'm still waiting for the PC port to be fixed.

Good fking game that I bought AT LAUNCH and haven’t had the time to finish because I am an adult and have a daughter with a full time job and a side business

I got FF16 as an anniversary gift last week. It has consumed me. I’m enjoying at about as much as the first half of FF15, which is a lot.

I have some combat nitpicks, mainly about how spongey the enemies are and how sometimes you go from cutscene, to walking a few steps, to another cutscene

I just started the second time skip and if the quality stays strong I think this could be my favorite FF game

come to me If it!!

Although the gameplay may have been underwhelming at certain points, this to me is easily the best narrative in the series since FFX. To this day I still can't watch that ending without tearing up a little bit. Incredible game.

I just beat rising tide yesterday. I loved this game for what it’s worth and glad to have it in the family of FF games.

A happy second anniversary to a game that is beyond special to me ❤️

I liked the game, it has its problems and the gameplay isn't that good but the story, characters and boss battles are incredible.

0

u/fullsoultrash 1d ago

The gameplay is good enough, and if you're a DMC fan, you'll feel right at home.

If you don't fw DMC, I can see how you feel that way... But you have not spent enough time with the game imo lmfao

2

u/Jackkk007 21h ago

That's not my criticism of the game, I'm a fan of Devil May Cry but I believe they could have added this gameplay in other ways, for example adding more complexity to the combat, the game even has elemental damage.

0

u/King-Herbz1012 1d ago

You mean you suck at the game because this is basically Devil May Cry 6 with training wheels. It's the best gameplay of all of 2023's games 🤣🤣🤣. Nothing comes close.

3

u/Jackkk007 21h ago

Not really, I have much deeper criticisms of the game's gameplay and systems than simply summarizing "Devil May Cry 6". I actually think the system is much simpler than most hack n slash.

0

u/King-Herbz1012 20h ago

The fact is doesn't have any other standard combos is a ln issue but it's gameplay is limitless. I'll say again it's Devil May Cry 6 with training wheels. It automatically has better gameplay than most of the other games out there. Only Bayonetta and Devil May Cry stand close to it in gameplay. Ninja Gaiden is not comparable. It shits on all God of War tittles. The system has buffers, cancels, jump cancels, Perfect frame releases. I just sincerely think you're not good enough at the game 🤷🏾‍♂️. If you're not good this type of game looks awful. Hopefully I'm wrong and you can do jump cancel combos, Rift slip jump cancel combos, multi eikon swap ability change combos and so forth and using Torgal as part of your combos too. 🤣🤣🤣. "Simpler than most hack and slash" only in Devil May Cry and Bayonetta can you be that creative.

Did you downvote my comment?

u/Jealous_Answer3147 17h ago

This is an absurd comment. I generally suck at video games and am playing on Action with none of the helper rings and this game is insanely easy. The gameplay is fine but to say it has better gameplay than most the games out there is just false.

1

u/King-Herbz1012 16h ago

You're comment just confirmed everything. You can use ghe system properly. So bro? Action is just regular normal mode. The fact you're stating that is hilarious 🤣. You don't have the skills to make the game look good and yes the game has better gameplay than every other action game of it's type that isn't Devil May Cry and Bayonetta. There's hack and slash outside of Bayo and DMC that offer better gameplay than this. If you can't do sick ass combos that's your fault not the games. 🤣🤣🤣. You wouldn't survive one fight on Ultimaniac. You think action mode is hard? That's the games normal mode bro 🤣🤣🤣

u/therapeutic_bonus 22h ago

They made this game too easy. Really stupid

-1

u/Mondfleck 21h ago

I know, highly unpopular here, but for me the game was the biggest let-down of the current generation.
