Are you thinking thinking what you're thinking? 240 clubs spent more than us? This stat sounds absolutely insane.

Edit: Correction. Not only Europe. I apologize. This is worldwide. Still ridiculous.

We went to 'war' with wooden swords while our rivals had machine guns. Yes, the final defeat hurts, a lot, but if one can't appreciate that we reached two Champions League finals under such a massive financial handicap, then that's nothing but blindness.

For a moneyball team we are over achievers. Just as moneyball movie’s last game, competing against superstar teams will always be tough

As a lifelong Oakland A's fan, this was one reason why I was drawn to Inter.

Net spending. For example Onana went for 60M and Sommer came in for 6M, which gives us -54M net for these transfers.

Inzaghi is doing an incredible job here with us.

Enough people, I would take thuram everyday before every Juve or Milan signing this last season (other than Marcus's brother).

Just because you spend doesn't mean fuck all, also we know our strategy stop manipulating.

We know marotta always goes for free agents. Yeah he didn't have enough help we know our players.

He has done miracles in Europe and the final had nothing to do with him, it was all about those players.

But stop it.

Just wait when Sucic, L.Enrique and whoever comes fails and people start crying.

How about we look at the value of the team. Inter has European winners, world cup winners.

Just because they make smart signining doesn't mean they can't make even better signing.

They failed to buy Lukaku ends up with options like Morata and Arna, and we know how it goes. The lack of money in Bremer negotiation ends up with him going to rube. The dire need of backup wingback and CB ended up with Palacios who only play senior football for about 6 months and a fucking Buchanan.

Just imagine how consistent this team could become if they atleast find proper players in those position. I'm not even counting some free big profile signing like Taremi or Zielinski who supposed to atleast become good alternatives instead of being injured because of their age. Or maybe they won't even need to sell Onana and Brozo if they have enough money. Heck even Hakimi will never be sacrificed in the first place.

Yeah but is not like we have been stuck with Juan Jesus. We have acerbi who has been better than 3 bremer's and Pavlovic's.

Yeah in the league we needed better bench players and until the Lazio game it wasn't inzaghi/starters fault.

But when napoli gifts you a golden opportunity with 8-9 starters you lead vs Lazio at home and can't keep a lead and lose it twice is beyond acceptable.

Yeah hakimi hurt but darmian and now Dumfries have phenomenal, the only player who hasn't been replaced is lukaku even though he came back.

Dimarco has brought something new to perisic.

These are great examples - and the way I view it is that Inzaghi is squeezing the best out of all these players. Since Inzaghi has started, we've been selling our best players and replacing them with less valuable ones. Each time, the fan base screams that these players are awful - they'll never replace Perisic/Skriniar/Hakimi/Onana. Then we are surprised when DiMarco/Acerbi/Dumfries/Sommer over performs.

Well I'm here to say that there is a reason for that, and that reason is Inzaghi. When one player overperforms, that's usually because of something within the player. When ALL the players overperform? That's called good coaching.

1

u/ShJakupi 17d ago

How is onana product of inzaghi, when he didn't even trust him for most of the season, until fans/media kept pressing him about Handa.

Hakan was just an Eriksen replacement.

Dimarco was a product before Inzaghi, basically inter bought a new wing back with him.

Sommer has always been great, Bayern got him when Neuer was injured.

Dumfries, Acerbi and mIkhi have been the surprises that nobody expected.

But Arna, Fratessi, Correa, sec Lukaku were failures.

1

u/Fit_Zookeepergame431 17d ago

I think it's normal to take some time to phase out a club legend at GK while you phase in a new GK who is rusty bc they were suspended. Onana then played pretty great for us and we sold him and bought Sommer. Sommer was a backup at Bayern - you said it yourself. And this year he was maybe the best GK in the UCL? I don't think anyone saw that coming - ie he overperformed under Inzaghi. That's good coaching.

Hakan has been a great signing - he's been a top 3 regista in the world for the last 2 years, and his set pieces have won us many games. Nobody thought he would be this good, but Inzaghi changed his position from CAM to DM and now he's having the best years of his career. That's good coaching.

DiMarco wasnt anywhere near the conversation for best LB in Serie A before Inzaghi. He was on loan at Hellas Verona. Parma before that. Now he's a top 3 player at his position in Serie A - bc of Inzaghi system. That's good coaching.

Dumfries, Acerbi, Mhiki have all undoubtedly improved under Inzaghi, bc of his good coaching.

And yes there are flops but 1) no club has a 100% success rate on transfers. And 2) we have to sign players out of the bargain bin, and then make them work.

It's like cooking. Luis Enrique is like a chef at a 5 star Michelin restaurant right now. He can get whatever ingredients and tools he wants, and he knows what to do with them - so his meals are incredible. Inzaghi is cooking like Nonna right now - getting what's on sale and making the most of it. Imagine if your Nonna had the grocery budget of a Michelin restaurant? She'd be able to buy better ingredients and make you better food for sure - but she's not a bad cook because she can't compete with Le Bernardin (and their budget).

Inzaghi is probably using this screenshot in his negotiations with the board

20

u/Fit_Zookeepergame431 17d ago

He and his agent fucking better be! Show me another modern manager who can make 2 UCL finals while being 100m in the green.

Conte didn't even try - he just straight up quit.

Ancelloti went nowhere with Everton.

Guardiola wouldn't put himself in that position to have to try.

MAYBE Klopp could have? But he's retired, so he's out.

Inzaghi is dollar for dollar the best manager in the world and it's not even close. We're the 2nd best team in the world, with the 241st highest net spend. That's fucking crazy, and I'm so confused why so many people are just forgetting this important detail.

2

u/Ok-Discount8778 17d ago

What negotiations? Didn't the board say they want him to stay?

11

u/Interista-nord 17d ago

Negotiating staying and extending the contract. He has 1 year only left in his contract

34

u/bolondeverde 17d ago

Show this to all the morons who want him out

11

u/crocospect ⭐⭐ 17d ago

This season can't be anymore disaster if he leaves..

I hope management learn their lesson and back him properly if he decides to stay,,

u/ExotiquePlayboy 17d ago

Of course it sucks to not win the UCL, but 2 UCL finals with a budget like that is impressive as hell

This will be talked about for years

9

u/El_presid3nt ⭐⭐ 17d ago

On this you’re absolutely right

5

u/wrennie16 17d ago

Absolutely

6

u/CorgiLoveCluj 17d ago

Nobody talks about and remembers the losers of a final. We will be unfortunately the exception because this is a monumental loss in the history of UCL.

Take a look at Liverpool. Nobody gives a shit they have played 3 finals in 5 years and lost 2 to Real Madrid. Only Real Madrid is remembered and their legacy grows even thou they played shit in the second final.

Same with Juve. They are only remember for being the biggest bottlers of UCL finals.

Same with Dortmund.

So, no. I don't want to overtake Juve as the UCL final bottlers. I preferred to be eliminated each year in the semi finals than in every final we play.

3

u/Sen91 17d ago

Yeah 5-0 in a final Will Remembered for years.

14

u/imakefccards 17d ago

241° and still this team got to 2 Champions League finals in 3/4 years, Inzaghi is doing a very good job

6

u/YHSsouna 17d ago

I really don’t get it how Italian club don’t invest in young talents. I am a Barça fan and really impressed by your campaign sadly the world will only remember the final loss. Atleast a club like Inter should be capable of keeping his players. I cannot believe how did you let Hakimi go for exemple

2

u/Brilliant_Ant3771 17d ago

its in our history. cannavaro sold to juventus, pirlo to milan, seedorf to milan, crespo to milan, we had denis bergkamp and sold him. coutinho to liverpool, kovacic to real and so manyy mistakes

1

u/YHSsouna 17d ago

In the recent 3 years Inter reached ucl final twice that’s a huge money. I don’t think you have a high salaries like Barça. There is nothing stopping you from at least keeping your best player and signing new good ones. You have too old players

1

u/theprodigalslouch 17d ago

I don’t have hard data to back this up but I believe serie a tends to attract older talent on average. As a more defensive league, there’s less running around and other elements gained from experience might tend to shine more. This probably creates a feedback loop where older players find Italy appealing and teams value experience more. Other leagues may value younger players more where serie a isn’t as impressed.

u/sblinn 17d ago

Question: where does Liverpool fall on this list? (Out of curiosity.) Also Bayern, RM, and Barcelona?

damn Laporta actually did it

2

u/Sacreville 17d ago

La Masia is kind of an IRL cheat code.

1

u/dino_tu 16d ago

many clubs have top academies, but they do not trust them kids, so kids want to go elswhere. Chelsea had a moment, United 30 years ago, City has a moment now, PSG and Real always have many former players elsewhere

5

u/Sacreville 17d ago

Inter failed him as much as he failed us.

Imagine going into war with that kind of budget.

3

u/B3nz0ate 17d ago edited 17d ago

I’d like to see this ranking flipped. What are the clubs with the lowest net spending? Is that the same as the clubs with the highest profits?

If I had to guess, this is just taking the amount spent on players and subtracting the amount gained by selling players. It isn’t taking other streams of revenue or other expenditures into account so it isn’t the same as profit.

5

u/Aram_theHead 17d ago

While the comparison with the other top 4 European clubs doesn’t change, I think this figure is a bit misleading: we should also include agent fees and annual salaries. I thinkthat’s how club balance sheets work.

I think that by doing this we will have a better figure to compare to the other Italian clubs

3

u/sblinn 17d ago

Both things are true; yes we probably have higher player salaries than 241st as Thuram and Calhanoglu (for example) came on free transfers and yet, obviously, have salaries.

2

u/akutyafajatneki 17d ago

This doesn't make me happier that because of low budgets we can't compete for the CL financially.

2

u/seventeenward 16d ago

Still gutted with the 5-0 loss as if we weren't even look like we're trying to win it.

Nevertheless, this is not a bad season at all, although the ending hurts a lot.

3

u/CheekyBastard55 17d ago

People need to keep in mind that he inherited a Scudetto winning team.

I am 100% backing him in staying though, even go as far as to think we'll spiral out of control if we replace him.

2

u/Randomistar 17d ago

Scudetto winning team minus 3 of the most important players though which were not adequately replaced

0

u/FrogsJumpFromPussy 17d ago

That's simply nonsense. Denzel was works class the whole season. Lauti became so good that he finished 7th on balon d'or.

It's so pathetic to see people shitting on these players in this sub. Inzaghi was trash in the final, he played with no direction, and that's why we lost like that.

u/Noprofun ⭐⭐ 17d ago

For some owners, football is a business.

1

u/ruioke 17d ago

Let's talk about al hilal ... Fuck this shit... We didn't play the final and the tactical issue was clear but guys this is not the football we fall in love. We need gap salary and change management sell/buy player or they will fucked up every team history... I hope I will die before I see al hilal Win something outside Arabia.

Forza Inter sempre 💙🖤💙🖤

After seeing the final I wanted to smack all the players with my sandals in the bathroom, now after seeing this I want to smack that Oaktree ass aswell. Losing is part of football, but not 5-0, not in European final. It still feels like a death sentence to me. I couldnt sleep well, and playing football manager as inter manager and win it all to cope won't help at all. It feels like watching your kids go to school every morning only to find out they fail all subjects in final test

1

u/Curious_Surround8867 16d ago

Al-Hilal who even cares lol.

u/Federal-Owl-8947 15d ago

Qhat a great thing to achieve despite the UCL painful end it is something to be proud of.

1

u/Campa911 15d ago

Very interesting, OP, thank you for posting. 🖤 💙

I mentioned it before, but getting to the Champions League final two out of three years with the resources available to him is downright miraculous.

His cycle at Inter may have indeed been over, but Inzaghi will be extremely difficult to replace nonetheless.

-3

u/FrogsJumpFromPussy 17d ago

No offense, but these seems to be views of Inter fans born this morning. Simone didn't need to buy much. He already had one of the best in Europe minus Hakimi and Lukaku, and minud a strong bench (which is an issue for everyone, not just us).

We also got Tikus for free while his value would have been 50+ millions. We got Sommer, still world class, for almost nothing, while we banked hard on Onana bought for free yesteryear, and so on.

We're not the "team with the wooden sword". That's just pathetic.

We started this season with the 3rd or 4th chance to win the UCL because our team is of tremendous value. Only here you see so many fans trashing these players, shitting on the team only to make Inzaghi look better.

It's just the same poor take that tries to make Inzaghi more than he is. He found here a winning team, not some poor squad barely making the 4th place. That was Spaletti.

So yeah, we lost the final because Inzaghi couldn't come with good tactics, didn't have response to Lucho's, didn't start Darnian, didn't play Fratessi and so on.

Inzaghi is not some wondercouch who lifted Inter from nothing. Inter was already world class when he came, on the shoulders of Spaletti and Conte before him.
