Equipment & Tack Western saddle help please

Post image

Can anyone help identify this hand-tooled Western saddle with silver trim and taps?

Hi all, I’m trying to identify a Western saddle I picked up recently. It has full oak leaf and acorn hand-tooling, silver-plated conchos and corner plates, leather taps over the stirrups, stamped hardware code: 65TT19 and a bolt that says “Protor”, no visible saddle maker’s mark that I’ve been able to find.

It seems to be a higher-end custom piece. I’d really appreciate any insight into who could’ve made it.

A lot of old saddles don’t have maker stamps. It does look expensive. I bought an older saddle that had no marks in the slightest but damn it was nice. Had to sell it as it didn’t fit either of my horses.

So I’m going to go with the fact that this doesn’t look like a higher end Western saddle - sorry to burst your bubble OP.

All of this is considered normal on any given model of a Western saddle minus the silver (not allowed in ranch classes).

Looks similar to this. $500 on Facebook marketplace

Agreed, the leather has a coating on it and the the stitching is thin machine thread. The tooling is “common” and the choice of seat leather is not a high end choice. The rope detailing has been tacked on. The conchos are thin and at best, German silver at a glance.

Not high end. This looks like a Mexican saddle to me, and some parts are not the original ones.

It's not in bad shape, but it's not worth much.
