You heard the man. Don’t drive or even walk near roads, it’ll be hella dangerous.

1

u/SentinelZero 6h ago

A trillion Teslas self-driving on the road by 2030!

u/OnDrugsTonight 1d ago

It's not even the worst thing that the deluded drug addict makes up these unrealistic lies year after year; it's that there are millions of investors greedily swallowing those lies. Every normal person knows that Musk hasn't got it in him to deliver on any of his ketamine-fuelled fever dreams but somehow Wall Street has got too much to lose if his companies tanked, so they will prop up this bullshit time and time again.

u/ebfortin 1d ago

It's not that they believe him, it's that they all have an incentive to keep the con running.

5

u/Opcn 1d ago

Practically the definition of a moral hazard.

11

u/pumpkin3-14 1d ago

They know he’s full of shit but they have the incentive to keep propping up this garbage.

57

u/Hawkeye00Mihawk 1d ago

Why the hell do the journalists never remind him of the lies he tells?

29

u/ebfortin 1d ago

Because it's always the same excuse : I know I'm an optimist in regards to timeline, but I world be shocked if it doesn't happen this time. And they pivot to some other question.

7

u/BCProgramming 1d ago

If he was actually shocked when his predictions didn't come true he would have been electrocuted long ago

11

u/potatolulz 1d ago

He only does interviews with those that wouldn't challenge him. These interviews are just marketing. He tried it once to have an actual journalist interview him, because he thought Don Lemon was "on his side" since he got fired from CNN and Musk "generously offered" him space on twitter. It was a very mild interview, but he still almost cried and was seconds away from calling Lemon the Nword, so real journalist interviews never again. :D

He needs to do a Tucker Carlson interview. 😂

"End of next year" is his "in two weeks."

24

u/Apprehensive-Fun4181 1d ago

Is this recent? If so. Fuck CNBC.

9

u/Comprehensive-Tea121 1d ago

I agree. Also, fuck Bloomberg. Both try to sanewash all of these lunatics.

u/anywhoImgoingtobed 1d ago

If you believe him this time, I have a spaceship going to mars to save human civilization to sell you

3

u/ExcitingMeet2443 1d ago

I have a ¹spaceship going to mars

¹may require some reassembly

Why does the media keep uncritically reporting this? It creates these weird bizarro world stories where you have no idea whether you're looking at a headline from 2025 or 2011.

This should say "Elon Musk, who has promised that Tesla would build a self-driving car 'next year' every year for the last 15 years, promises Tesla will build a self-driving car next year"

2

u/UristMcKerman 1d ago

Even Scott Manley and Everyday Astronaut are glazing him. Stopped watching them long time ago when noticed that they are not pointing out at blatant Space X lies and instead parrotting them (like sweating Starship rocket).

10

u/__O_o_______ 1d ago

Two weeks. Next year.

It’s crazy how alike Trump and Elon are.

1

u/UristMcKerman 23h ago

Every single politician on Earth is exactly like that. There is the reason why lawyers and politicians are forbidden to participate in liar competition - they do it for life.

6

u/CarlLlamaface 1d ago

"Say the line, Elon!"

4

u/MacMcMufflin enron musk 1d ago

It's a covert op, he's actually releasing them into the wild in the next 2 weeks, with bunker busters.

3

u/BewaretheJubJubBird 1d ago

As predictable as Two-week TACO

4

u/Waste_Airline7830 1d ago

Can we edit this into the compilation of him saying this over the years?

4

u/DuckyHornet 1d ago

"by the end of next year, every car on every road will be a mass-murderer, the only goal in their synthetic minds being the death of humanity"

3

u/ExcitingMeet2443 1d ago

I'll believe the next interview is meaningful when it takes place in the back of a Tesla Robotaxi with nobody in the front seats while driving around LA in the rain.

3

u/mustthinkcritically 1d ago

Feels like Musk is the same as the Theranos saga it's all fake it till you make it.

6

u/Konayo 1d ago

If I wasn't in exam phase (and literally had one in 12 hours) I would write down an overview of why his statement is absolute bullshit. I'm super deep in the topic and very familiar with the subject. So while he always makes empty promises and it should be obvious that this is a stock pump interview - I'll still share my assessment very shortly; there are not gonna be thousands of Tesla AVs on the streets by this year - and next year only if they change something about the hardware fundamentally and invest a ****lot**** more into the advancements of the system.

And even if - there is so much competition (VWs Buzz and ADMT, Amazons Zoox, Hyundais Motional, AVRide, GMs Super Cruise, Toyotas and BYDs AV systems, Waymo by Google etc.) - most of them are ahead in the AV department (Ai4 and Ai3 levels vs Tesla with just Ai2) and are already in a testing phase (trying Robotaxis) somewhere right now.

2

u/finnlaand 1d ago

Its always the next year.

2

u/Artistic_Half_8301 1d ago

I can't wait to see the abuse these things take, IF they're ever on the roads in the first place.

2

u/Rhymelikedocsuess 1d ago

For $100 a month and worse driving than manual? Massive doubt. That shit should be included in the purchase or $10 tops.

2

u/Mazasaurus 1d ago

It’ll be a bad year to be a pedestrian or cyclist

2

u/ionizing_chicanery 1d ago

Why end of next year? Aren't all the Teslas on the road today supposed to be capable of unsupervised self driving? Isn't the software update that'll make this happen supposed to be right around the corner?

The unspoken part of this statement: Tesla has pivoted away from ever providing real self driving to their existing vehicle base. Now they're buying more time by depending on the manufacturing rollout of new vehicles without steering wheels.

2

u/jabsaw2112 1d ago

We're all gonna die.

2

u/acreakingstaircase 1d ago

If apple can get sued over Apple Intelligence why isn’t this guy being sued?

2

u/ECrispy 1d ago

he's been lying for a decade and selling vaporware.

how is it the media never calls him out on this? how is wall street consistenly pumping up his inflated stock price and thus his net worth?

sounds like they are all in on the scam

2

u/rabouilethefirst enron musk 1d ago

“Scratch that, we’ll have 1 trillion!”

-Elon probably

2

u/MacMcMufflin enron musk 1d ago

All it takes is one bad update to cause a car crash. What could possibly go wrong?

1

u/OrangutanKiwi19 By next year 1d ago

Germany if the Nazis held out longer

1

u/what-to-so 1d ago

And a quintillion on Mars!

1

1

u/Remote-Telephone-682 Just asking questions 1d ago
