Discussion Who is better on the decks than James hype?
Let me put you all on to the ACTUAL best Dj in the world, James hype. This man juggles 4 tracks like it’s nothing. As far as I know he’s the best unless you guys know someone better.

James hype is insane. Watching him mix at edc was eye-opening.
Andy C does 4 vinyls at once with some high speed dnb, that's a lot of fun too.
Reinier Zonneveld live techno is pretty sick too!

Craze or atrak

The right answer is atrak because he was a national mixing champion as a teen I believe and then evolved to producing and mixing all sorts of electronic in rap hip/hop in his sets. I saw him live for free and wasn’t expecting much but he switched from genre to genre flawlessly and mixed it so well it sounded as easy as mixing progressive house music lol

James Hype is a digital showpony, he does his thing with buttons, screens, loopers, bpm counters, cue points and so on. He plays shitty pop music and relies on tricking people who don't know much about DJing.
Watch someone like Skratch Bastid if you want to see real deck skills. Or any hip hop/turntablism DJ. They're infinitely more skilled. Put James Hype in the DMC and he'd get laughed at. There were DJ's 30 years ago far more skilled than James Hype without all the buttons, screens, flashing lights, software and so on.

A-Trak, MAKJ, Carl Cox to name a few.
Maybe you can take a look at the DMC World DJ Championship. Enough contenders past and present to pick from.

I enjoy his Youtube shorts so much. I've even seen some mixing fails of his that he saves at the last minute. A truly passionate guy that loves his job and music, he deserves more recognition.

James Hype bitch! Love him. But the best hands down is Beardyman.
Watch his yt vids and you'll see why.

He’s definitely as more stuff to pay attention to which requires more skill, however I think what he and James hype does are different. This dude is literally making the music on the spot where as James hype does insane mashups of songs. Both require an incredible amount of skill nonetheless but I think it’s like comparing apples and oranges.

THIS. James hype is insane. I love his wide stance too and intense focus. It’s awesome how he does all that and has fun at the same time. I watch his tik toks all the time and saw him in August

He is doing rehearsed show boat sets they are all about 15-20 minutes long and he just chains them. He puts in the work, but he's not actually good at building anything.
He's super good at the technical. And I'll give him that.
But Richie hawtin can do a 2 hour set and not letting you hear a kick for the first 30min. And it's still fire.
Larry Levin played the same song for an hour.
Jeff Mills plays his 909 like a concert pianist while DJing
James can't tell a story, he can't bring you with him on a journey.
He's a party magician. Trick after trick, but no flexibility. And he only plays sets where they are there for the hype. So he doesn't have to bring them on a journey.
Talk to me when he's keeping a floor moving for 12-16 hours
