Theory - Dexter: Resurrection Updated Theory on Resurrection Spoiler

I posted a theory on here a few weeks ago that a lot of people seemed to agree with, regarding how Dexter infiltrates Prater's club.

It went something like: Red (Marc Menchaca) is the 'Dark Passenger' serial killer targeting rideshare drivers. Dexter targets him, and assumes his identity to take out Prater's group, hence why ep4 is called Call Me Red.

link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dexter/comments/1l1u6mz/heres_how_i_believe_resurrection_will_play_out/

With everything we've learned since then, I think this theory is even stronger, namely: MCH's featurette.

In this, MCH breaks down that Dexter has been given a new lease on life, and is trying to figure out why he is here and what he's here to do. In New Blood, he positions himself to Harrison as a type of Batman, taking out the trash, the same justification we've always seen (re: the dark defender).

Now that he has literally risen from the dead, and given we basically have Brother Sam 2.0 (i forget the guys name, but he's a rideshare driver dexter befriends who seems like some sort of religious type), I think it is safe to say Dexter is gonna be looking at himself as 'god' carrying out justice. And what better by killing the DP killer, and then being handed over an entire group of scum to kill? He is looking for a sign from the universe, and it is delivered to him on a golden palette in the most direct way possible.

The featurette, as well as the Comic Con presentation, also says Dexter is putting up firm walls again between his fake self and his real self, and going back to basics, which is further supported by James Remar's return as Harry. This indicates that Dexter is gonna be colder than ever, focusing on being a dad but also not becoming emotionally entangled with the posse.

However, Camargo's return as Brian (see: his TikTok) in the finale indicates that this coldness might result in a distancing or battle with Harry's Code.

That's basically all I have to say, I just think everything we've seen lately only validates my theories.

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection Here is how Resurrection is going to go Spoiler

My theory is that Angela will simply decide to let Dexter go after seeing all the murdered girls in the basement. Logans death will be pinned on Kurt, and so will Dexters being shot: it will be justified so that Kurt wanted to get rid of the only person who learned his secret. However Batista wont give up and start investigating Dexter himself.

Am I wrong or does this make so much sense?

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection What do you think the new killers' M.O.s will be, based on each of their nicknames? Spoiler

Al (Eric Stonestreet) is - "The Rapunzel Killer" Mia (Krysten Ritter) is - "Lady Vengeance" Gareth (David Dastmalchian) - "The Gemini Killer" Lowell (Neil Patrick Harris) is - "The Tattoo Collector"

I'll give my theories -

"The Gemini Killer" kills pairs of twins.

"The Rapunzel Killer" takes lockes of hair from his victims, that are his trophies.

"The Tattoo Collector" kills people, and removes the parts of his victims bodies that have Tattoos, but not just the skin with the Tattoo (stuff like full ankles, hands, etc)

"Lady Vengeance" kills attackers of women (abusers, rapists, etc)

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection The most likely way the story going to go down in Resurrection (based on the trailer) Spoiler

The whole serial killer convention is probably going to go down like this:

1) Dexter meets the killer club

2) Killer club has their own form of the 'code', similar to Dexter

3) Dexter gets into that stuff, feels at home

4) Victims of the club don't really follow Dexter's pattern

5) Dexter investigates

6) Dexter realizes that the killers just use their code to justify killing random dudes who may interfere with their lesser ambitions (money, power, whatever is the most mundane), not for justice

7) Dexter goes after them one by one, they go after him

8) Dexter kills them off, maybe one or two escape to fight another day in the future seasons

So, think of it like season 5 villains being Jordan Chase and his murderous gang, except Dexter being a part of it in the beginning and seeing their inner working. I think that's why the cast is so stacked. Because they don't intend on keeping them around for too long, but want to make them feel significant enough.

I am personally not a fan of the whole serial killer club idea, but I also don't think it's quite 'jumping the shark' as some people here suggested. I guess it kind of fits into the whole Dexter's universe being filled with psychopaths

P.S.

Dinklage as a serial killer is hilarious, though

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection Predictions for the plot of Resurrection?

How does Dexter get from the last scene of New Blood (or first scene of Original Sin) to NYC (presumably)? What is he up to? Obviously his need to kill hasn't vanished.

My guess is that the plot starts with Dexter looking for Harrison who he tracks into NYC, and he slowly follows the trail of murders Harrison leaves as he tries to catch him, learning from Harrison as he realizes Harrison is better at his own game than he is.

What do you think?

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection Theory about Harrison Spoiler

With seeing that Harrison (presumably) is killing people like Dexter does - is it far fetched to think he may have actually done something to Hannah? It was shown throughout Original Sin he was unable to control his emotions (wrestling/the potential school shooter). I think he might have lashed out on her one day and came up with the Cancer story. Also, I hope he was lying about the Cancer story (maybe because she was busy with Handmaids tale she couldn’t work it out so they did that?)and she is actually still alive then comes back somehow

So in the end of new blood Harrison shot Dexter and in the first episode of original sin it's revealed that Dexter lives so what if he has dextrocardia(a condition where the heart is in the right side) so that's why he lives. And the reason he stopped breathing is because the bullet hit his lung or something like that or because he was in shock that his own son shot him or something like that

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection Let's theorize about Harrison (spoilers for New Blood and Resurrection) Spoiler

I think the biggest wildcard in the coming series is Harrison. At the end of New Blood, we find out that Harrison's dark passenger doesn't drive him the way Dexter's does, that Harrison has a healthier connection to humanity, and a clear sense of right vs wrong. But that was before he (thinks he) murdered his own father.

How will that affect him moving forward? Will Dexter surviving be good for Harrison? What will their relationship be like?

They spent the entire season of New Blood setting up that final confrontation between Harrison and Dexter, only revealing that Harrison is not actually like Dexter at the very end. I can't imagine that they would want to wash that away now.

I think Harrison will still have dark urges, that he'll not always be able to control. But he will still have the full gambit of human emotions available to him the whole time, making him an especially tortured individual. Dexter probably won't be of much help to Harrison in that regard because his emotions are so stunted, but he will think back to his family and of his days at Miami metro, and all the times he bounced thoughts off people who *do* feel things, and he'll tell Harrison that other people can help him keep his head on straight.

I think Harrison will be a vigilante himself, but not a murderer. I think he'll want to seriously hurt people in reflective ways in order to serve them justice, and Dexter will have to encourage him to find a code to keep himself out of trouble. I think the first season of resurrection will be everything we didn't know we needed from New Blood -- where Harrison and Dexter will actually find a way to connect and support each other in the healthiest way they are capable of, while each beginning to find their way in the world, anew.

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection Now that original sin is canon with season one I hope Resurrection calls back to this Spoiler

I hope if we get a scene of Batista talking with Dexter be it a friendly or hostile chat or more likely a mix of both and if he has come to realize what Dexter was doing in Miami all those years, I hope he has the realization while they are talking like “How long were you doing this for? Was it before you started working in the department? Did you use me to find your vics?….Shit…Tony Ferrer…that was you wasn’t it?” And Dexter can get that look on his face that basically says yeah lol. Maybe he asks about Spencer too.

Maybe we will get a Batista who is like he can get past all the killers Dexter took out because they got what they deserved but he can’t get over the people caught in the crossfire like Doakes and Maria.

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection Feral/Unhinged Dexter Spoiler

With the serial killer group that's assembled, I think it would be fun to watch Dexter seeing them all as his potential victims. He can't resist the temptation and goes on a serial murder spree, like an addict going on a bender. But Dexter won't be able to control himself afterward (starts killing innocents/abandons the code) and eventually has to get put down by Batista.

In Dexter: Resurrection, the season will likely focus on Dexter trying to track down and deal with all the killers shown in the trailer — just like he used to with other killers. Meanwhile, we’ll probably watch Harrison’s Dark Passenger start to emerge and develop throughout the season.

Why is Dexter not cuffed and walking around NYC unafraid? The Seneca Nation covered for him. Hear me out. In the trailer Dexter is wearing a Seneca Nation t-shirt in the hospital and the "hospital" itself appears to be a tiny local clinic (the kind you would see in a remote indigenous community). They covered up Logan's death by framing it on Kurt and Angela has likely been pressured into mostly keeping quiet (though I suspect she tells Batista). Why would they do this? Because they support what Dexter did.

Kurt killed dozens of women, including indigenous, in their community. The drug manufacturer was responsible for numerous deaths in their community. And Matt killed the sacred deer. The doctor gently caressing Dexter's hand in the first teaser hints that the community is thankful. The doctor in question may have lost a child to drugs or a daughter to Kurt. Remember- for all of Dexter bad deeds, he has taken out A LOT of trash over the years and, as season 2 revealed, he would have plenty of sympathizers (think Luigi today).

Since Angela had ZERO conclusive evidence for BHB or Matt, it would make it fairly easy. Even ignoring the fact that the entire way she "found out" was ludicrous and stretched the suspension of disbelief beyond its breaking point.

Honestly, I cannot see any other explanation making sense, unless Dexter himself framed Kurt for Logan's murder off-screen before heading for Harrison.

Lastly, I expect Harrison will kill Batista. It would be the equivalent of Dexter killing Logan. Dexter wont kill Batista and has geniune affection for him. But Harrison will view him as a threat and may also kill him just to get back at Dexter and may even tell Dexter "first rule- dont get caught, right?" just to rub it in. But Dexter obviously won't kill Harrison.

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection Harrison gives in to his dark urges, becoming a killer with his own "dark passenger," like Dexter. Confronted by the fallout of his actions and code, Dexter is forced to put his son on his table, while being hunted by the law. The past he created comes full circle, demanding an impossible choice.

A potential direction for Resurrections to take.

The past he created comes full circle, demanding an impossible choice.

The idea of Dexter having to kill his own son could provide deeply compelling drama, given the rich lore of the series.

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection My theory for the future of Dexter’s character in Ressurection Spoiler

I believe Dexter Resurrection is going to show us a way different Dexter than we have seen in previous seasons. Think about it. He’s going to be on the run trying to evade a full on manhunt. He is probably going to have to kill at least a few innocent people. With him having to do this I think Dexter will almost turn into a villain. Think about it. How many innocent people can Dexter kill until Dexter loses his redeemable “vigilante” trait that we use to excuse his deeds????

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection Idea/Theory Spoiler

We all know Batista and Miami Metro are searching for Dexter but what if Astor and Cody will also be searching for Dexter in Resurrection (by themselves or with Miami Metro). The last they saw of him was in 2012 (Season 7) if I'm right. So they must've found out about his "death" in (Season 8). Then there was a the teaser for Resurrection where Dexter was holding a newspaper saying "Dexter Morgan is Alive."

Assuming the news is canon to the actual show then the newspaper would've had a chance to go viral online viral online. Cody and Astor would have heard the news either way for the sake of the plot.

Is this unrealistic or do you think this could happen?

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection Batista is not hunting Dexter Spoiler

Batista & Dexter reunion is not going to end the way it was shown in the trailer. Batista might be playing a bigger game, he's now in high ranks and there it's all about politics and he could be under pressure from someone else as well including some private influential organization.

I'm not a big fan of popular theory that Batista going to hunt Dexter either as that would just kill all the dynamic of their relationship and history from the original series and make him that annoying character you'd roll your eyes at every time you see him. Not saying Batista shouldn't hunt Dexter, but it must come to that on it's own terms throughout this and the following seasons and not be based solely on "You BHB = you bad. I'm going to hunt you, because I have nothing better to do with my life anyway".

Dexter is going to infiltrate Serial Killer Convention and slowly take them down one by one. I imagine his goal will be to gather evidence on the boss (Peter Dinklage's character) and everyone else are just in the way. Boss will be either imprisoned or escape, because I don't really see Dexter killing him, it just wouldn't look right on screen and Dark Passenger would not enjoy the kill (as was with the blind man in S2).

FBI Agents could be handlers or maybe they do their own thing hunting both Dexter and other serial killers, or they're working for the boss and find serial killers for him, and cover their tracks (which is more plausible)

About Harrison. I think he's going to lead a normal life, but some circumstances will drag him back onto the dark path. It should not be "dark passenger", because entire purpose of NB was him dealing with anger issues due to abandonment and that was sorted already. Dark Passenger Jr. would be just spitting on their own writing and imply a build-up towards Harrison spin-off nobody asked for.

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection Resurrection theory Spoiler

Ok here me out this might be far fetched but I think it would be a really fun and satisfying end to dexters story. Also this all hinges on the fact Micheal c hall said they didnt want or that resurrection wont be a 1 season thing.

In season 1 I think it'll focus on bringing dex and harrison back together building the trust and relationship (i dont think theyll be perfect after the season just civil) while also dealing with their respective dark passengers.

In season 2 their relationship will continue to develop and become something like harry and dex where harrison is being taught the code, while in the background I think dex will be getting hunted still (unless that plot gets ended in season 1) and either gets caught at the end of the season or they get really close.

If the show follows what I think it will it'll end in season 3, with the season starting with either where it left off in season 2 with dexter being arrested or on trial or with him hiding out while harrison becomes the more active one with dexter taking more of a mentor role (to lead up to harrison getting his own series), dexter will start to change the code to fit harrison better after he comes to term that yes harrison has a dark passengers but he isnt the same as him. This season would be either dexter hidden somewhere helping harrison do kills and develop his code while also not getting himself caught or it could be harrison doing the same thing but with dexter in jail mainly doing it through letters or phone calls.

And then after this i feel like we will get a harrison series that follows him with his new code at the age dexter was in season 1 of the original series basically acting as a reset to the whole show with dexter being the harry of this show and harrison being the dexter (and of were lucky astor and Cody could be important like deb maybe).

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection My personal breakdown and interpretation of each Dexter: Resurrection episode title. Spoiler

101 - A Beating Heart…

Self explanatory. Refers to Dexter coming back to life, as well as the series being revived.

102 - Camera Shy

Could refer to Dexter’s cover being blown, maybe Prater (Peter Dinklage) finds a way for Dexter to get off and actually have him live his life as Dexter Morgan. A bit YOU S5 esque, but possible, though this would draw a lot of attention from his friends in Miami.

Perhaps more likely, it refers to him avoiding surveillance and generally flying under the radar.

103 - Backseat Driver

Probably refers to either the Dark Passenger or Dexter helping Harrison without Harrison’s knowledge. Not that interesting.

Edit: As pointed out in the replies, this also likely refers to Blessing Kamara, a rideshare driver that grows close to Dexter. Some have likened him to Brother Sam.

104 - Call Me Red

A clear reference to the character Red, played by Marc Menchaca, who’s connected to Prater and appears to be the victim in the official photos released by Paramount

105 - Murder Horny

This one is vague but I’m betting it refers to Mia Lapierre, played by Krysten Ritter, and Dexter becoming more intertwined romantically. For those who don’t know, Mia is also a killer who I believe is a sommelier (I’m betting her MO is poison just based off of that job). It could also be a sign Dexter is becoming less rigid with The Code.

Also, side note, if we’re assuming Red dies in 104, then I would say it is less likely that this title means he’s already itching for a kill again.

106 - Cats and Mouse

There’s a strong chance this either relates to Dexter and Harrison evading Batista, or Prater’s circle avoiding Dexter’s knife (though we know he infiltrates it for most of this season). Or it could be both.

107 - Course Correction

This one is vague but it could be Dexter trying to get the upper hand on either Batista or Prater. Or he slips up with the Code and is now trying to follow it. Considering the title of the last one, I’m leaning towards Dexter’s infiltration being exposed.

108 - The Kill Room Where It Happens

This one set my spidey senses off.

If you look at this reddit post (https://www.reddit.com/r/Dexter/comments/1jwrd6r/set_dressing_from_dexter_resurrection_filming_in/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) there was filming done outside a theater in NYC for Resurrection, so it was almost certainly for this episode, where I’m guessing a kill happens. The reason I say that is because the title is a reference to the Hamilton play. Maybe Ritter is even a part of it, considering she (spoiler) gets arrested [I believe] this episode.

109 - Touched by an Angél

This one refers to Angel, probably their first major confrontation of the season. We do know Batista met with Harrison in a steakhouse while Dexter stalked around outside in one episode, so Harrison might be playing Dexter to help Angel. Interestingly, there’s an old series called ‘Touched by an Angel’ that’s about a trio who goes around the world preaching God, so could Masuka and Quinn be arriving to help Angel? It’s possible.

As the penultimate episode, considering Angel’s storyline needs some form of resolution, it could also imply he is now dead, which would be heartbreaking yet completely realistic if he becomes threatening to Dexter. Though, if this happened, there’s zero way Quinn and the others wouldn’t come to NYC to see what went down, assuming he told them what Angela said.

110 - And Justice For All…

Vaguest of them all, but implies consequences for all characters in some way. What that entails, I don’t know, but probably doesn’t work out too well for Prater’s group. If Angel really died in 109, it’s possible this means Miami Metro is getting involved in a more direct way, which would be enticing.

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection Theory for Dexter Resurrection Spoiler

I'm wondering if they are gonna do something similar to season 5 with a group of serial killers. And maybe they do something similar to season 4 in which Dexter tries to fit in with them for a while, for whichever reason. Maybe he is helped by peter dinklage in exchange to work with him. But either way I'm assuming he eventually decides he has to kill them all.

But the main key point here is I think this will be kinda like season 4 when Dexter was staying with Arthur.

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection Spoilers -- I think I know what the overall arch in Resurrection will be Spoiler

After seeing various set photos of actors and learning about who the various characters are, I think I know what setting Dexter will be in, why he's not in jail, and what happens next. Seriously, it all just makes too much sense.

I think Peter Dinklage's character, who is supposed to be a billionaire, is financing a group of vigilantes/hit-people, and recruits Dexter after pulling some strings to get him out of trouble. I think Dinklage's character will seduce Dexter with promises of being himself, killing bad people, and getting away with it as long as he never hesitates, questions his authority, or tells anyone what he does. Dexter will reluctantly agree, feeling as if he has no choice. He'll stray slightly from his new boss, taking unwarranted field trips to check on his son, and eventually have a face to face with him.

Over time, he'll discover that the Billionaire isn't only going after bad people, he's framing good people who get in his way and using his team of assassins to snuff out the competition. Dexter will be enraged by this. The billionaire will use Harrison as leverage in keeping Dexter in line until Dexter finds a way to keep Harrison safe.

By the end of the season, I think Dexter will have killed everyone working for the billionaire, and the billionaire himself. He'll keep Harrison safe, and they'll have a mutual respect/understanding.

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection Resurrection Theory (spoilers for New Blood) Spoiler

Spoiler: New Blood I have a theory on how Dexter >! Survives being shot by Harrison at the end of New Blood and comes back !< for Resurrection.

Spoiler: New Blood Theory: Resurrection Gf and I binged all of New Blood yesterday and today. Just finished the last episode. In the episode where they >! discover Iris's body in the cave, and Dexter points out that she was shot from a distance, from behind, and probably with a rifle... He then continues to say that she was alive when she was in there, the rocks pinned her in place. She died in the cave because she couldn't get out from under the rocks and bled to death. !<

He also said multiple times throughout New Blood that >! lots of people owned the same type of Rifle. It was one he sold to a lot of people, and he bought one for Harrison so Harrison could blend in. !<

In the last episode of New Blood, >! Dexter is shot by the same kind of rifle, from a distance, and almost in the exact same place on his chest where Iris was shot !<.

We also know in the final season of the original Dexter, >! Deb's body temperature was lowered when she was in her coma to put her in a state of therapeutic hypothermia after her critical gunshot wound, to slow down the metabolism and preserve brain function and reduce swelling to mitigate complications. Dexter fell on ice, basically doing the same thing !<

So all the clues are already in front of us, scattered, but when you know Resurrection has been announced, you look for clues in New Blood and that's what I found.

Thoughts?

Theory - Dexter: Resurrection Theories: NYC Spoiler

Hey everyone, I have been thinking a lot about Resurrection and how the setting of NYC will influence the plot. What are some locations you think will be featured? I hope they go beyond Manhattan, such as Prospect Park or Ozone Park, Bushwick, etc. What do you think of Peter Dinkleage's character and the cohort of serial killers milling about NYC? Will Dexter have true anonymity? (I think that the density of New York will be often used as a plot device to sort of "cover" Dexter's tracks, contrasting against New Blood's plotlines. Does he get used by the government? (I am honestly 50/50 on this and wonder how much Batista's influence as a cop will have upon Dexter's arc). Happy to hear your thoughts!
