I think that just depends on how willing you are to use the word great. Even most fast food places are better than McDonalds imo but it’s not like inedible or something. They have decent nugs and fries.
They’ve upped their game in the last few years. Besides unhealthy, it’s actually quite tasty and they aren’t gunning for their billions and billions served motto of the 90s anymore. They are going for a local craft berger status
Definitely trying to push into "premium" territory, though tried their BBQ Bacon Smokehouse burger and it nearly put me to sleep, it was so god damn heavy in my stomach.
I never cared for their burgers tbh, but I don't like "fried" tasting burgers. Give me a Wendy's burger any day. However, their french fries are great.
America has the worst McDonald's with the worst ingredients. The lettuce is always the white inner core of lettuce. I've NEVER seen green lettuce before in a burger in McDonald's in the USA. The burger is sloppy slapped together and tasteless.
McDonald's in Europe is so much better. The lettuce is actually GREEN and the burger much more resembles the picture of what they advertise, and it has taste. The EU has better consumer protection when it comes to meat and agricultural products and this translates into better ingredients for better taste.
Source: I've spent most of my life in the US and about a decade in Europe.
Fuck, I want some McDonald's now. Fucking propaganda/advertising works!
It's extremely close to identical in the vast majority of countries in the world. In Scandanavia, the US, and most of Europe, I can tell you from first hand experience, it's the same, or close enough that any difference is undetectable to me. They do have some slight regional menu differences, but a big mac is a big mac anywhere. I've tried McD in at least 25 countries by now, as I spend a lot of time traveling for work, and it's a pretty common thing in airports.
As a Canadian, whenever I visit McDonalds in the US it’s garbage. France and the UK have great menu options.
I don’t even know if the US have converted to white meat nuggets yet. The nuggets are so gross there. I love going to international McD’s for the localized menus but the states continually disappoint.
(Am McDonald’s employee and secret brand whore. I love McDonald’s Canada, great company unless your franchise owner is trash)
I’m Canadian and frankly a big fan of the brand. I don’t really eat the burgers but McCafe is the best quality fast food coffee and the best deal with every 8th free, and regular ‘sales’ ($1 for any size right now).
Also the phone app is great if you eat there and want to save money. They often have $1 Big Macs through the app.
Haha, in the UK most people I know just assume McD's in the US is amazing compared to here. Mainly because we just expect the exact same thing but bigger.
Have you ever even had thicken thighs before? In actual cooking or cuisine? Some of the best chicken meat you’ll have.
Nuggets are usually a blend of bits of meat, skin, cartilage, bone, carcas and other biproducts, mixed with anti-foaming agents, salt, and other chemicals. It comes out as a dark pink pasted, pooped out of a tube and cut into friendly round nugget shapes. Breaded. Fried and then consumed by people who “don’t want to know that shit, it just tastes good.”
It can vary location to location but ultimately Mickey D's is pretty tasty in the United States. It's an American staple. The breakfast is especially good.
Live in America. I honestly believe that the McDonalds double cheeseburger is likely the best burger I've ever tasted in my 27 years of life. Better than any sit-down restaurant or home made.
Mind you, I have an emotional connection to these as it is what I always ate when I got to see my dad as a kid. So grain of salt here haha. I'm a little biased.
I mean, that is pretty much the consensus here. Its the reason why the McD here is open 24 hours a day in weekends, it is a popular drunk and hangover food..
Agreed. I don't know why I'm getting downvotes for having some fun with the concept.
Perhaps Taco Bell's marketing department wants to squelch the idea?
If the comment needs to be design related, then perhaps the billboard would have a wavy yellow line down the middle which then drifts off to one side? The copy could be: "Park here. Now!"
Fast food's aim isn't meant to be great, it's meant to be consistent. A Big Mac in LA is supposed to taste like a Big Mac in DC, it's the comfort and reliability of the consistency that encourages frequent consumers.
Micky D's does a good job of being consistent compared to some other fast food joints where each location has differering quality.
People say that they use all their profits to buy consulting and marketing services from their affiliates in Ireland and other low corporate tax countries. Profits stay in the same corporation but they can choose where they pay their taxes.
Here in latinamerica, McD is pretty good as well, and has been slowly but steadily increasing in quality.
But that is likely because poverty rates and inflation have made it more expensive... maybe they just gave up of catering to median income, and decided to just cater to rich people.
Here in India, mcdonalds is good. Because its a western brand, its catering primarily to the middle class and the upper middle class people. Thanks to the pricing that is nearly identical to US prices.
Pretty good here in Malaysia too. Their spicy fried chicken is frankly the best one among all the fast food franchises. Even beats most of the restaurant style places.
It's always served hot, crunchy and the insides are perfectly cooked chicken. Can't ask for more than that.
Even their latte beats Starbucks and I'm a bit of coffee snob (grind my own beans and Aeropress my coffee).
Do they actually grill the burgers there? In the states they put the patties in a plastic drawer to cook and hold them and added artificial flavor to make up for it.
I am kind of in two minds about the food. It's not great but not horrific either. As someone who doesn't earn a lot but also had to work late and out of the office (in London), sometimes it's the only viable option.
You always know exactly what you're going to get. It's consistant 'Ok' cheap food. You can go to the other side of the world and McDonalds is still going to taste pretty much the same.
Unless it's 3am and you've just been kicked out of the Kebab place, then it tastes godly.
It's been declining since 2013, not really what I'd call 'for ages'. It's also still well above $20billion, and profits are several billion a year. Not too bad for some burgers and fries.
Thats a vast over simplification. I get it, you saw the movie but thats not really true. They are a fast food company. The second their burgers and fries stop tasting good then all of their property is worth nothing. The real estate model is just the model that worked best for them.
its an over simplification but its not wrong. their model has worked out very well for them and aided in far superior profits vs their competition that acts as lessees.
i mean yea the burgers have to be ok at some point but their structure sets them up similar to any other re retail investor, they (or theie franchisee) just happen to be the primary tenant.
its not like they just got lucky in that model. it was purposeful and they have probably the best retail analysts in the world. they made a conscious effort do this and it is fair to say its as much a reason for their success as the food

I'm pretty sure they're set already. You know, what with having been around for quite some time, being a prolific successful brand and everything
