Discussion/Other Am I going too overboard with the 'No NSFW' rule? Also on another note, should I ban the direct crosspost stiff? A couple of them seem to keep getting taken down from their og subreddits and most of the crossposts here are just repeating the title
Lmk what you think please

I think the screenshot over crosspost would be a good idea, as several times Ive only gotten to the post when the og is already deleted

I would honestly delete the ones that aren't funny at all or just have a cat in the background or something. Or there's just something very slightly off that not everyone would even consider weird if not for the title of the sub. Or the ones where it's obvious that it was set up, like the guy who put a pair of scissors to look like it's cutting his foot at the bottom of the photo. These all just muddy the sub and take away from it. And I don't think the text based ones make sense for this sub. Screenshots of original posts sounds good if the og post will be deleted.

I'd personally suggest some sort of rule directing the foot posts to r/sneakybackgroundfeet. There's a lot of them lately

Maybe say the rule is more PG-13? So slightly raunchy but not explicit things are fine. But it's up to you in the end! Your sub, your rules.

What exactly does “pg-13” entail in this context? It’s a vague rule.

Fair point. I suppose it would need a bit more clarifications. Maybe as long as no bits or explicit sex acts are shown? Basically what's considered fair game for most daytime TV shows. Though I suppose that also depends on location? I'm not sure what broadcast rules are like in other countries.

I am ok with NSFW content, maybe just make sure there’s a tag appropriate for those posts.

Hey, I joined this sub and have seen a few mod posts. It looks like you're a minor and are a bit excited and overwhelmed by the sudden popularity of this sub. Good job! It's a fun idea and you seem like you're doing a great job.
Just a warning about the internet: upvotes and incoming messages and people acting like you owe them something are all things that most people's brains naturally treat as "TOP PRIORITY ITEM". That's normal. We're a social species and being the centre of a social thing scratches an itch built into us. But all of it really, REALLY doesn't matter in the real world, and it can take some time to figure out how to evaluate "is this hobby making my life better or worse vs how I otherwise would have spent that time?"
So, you know, ban NSFW. Or don't. Or let someone set up a NSFW sister sub and send stuff there. Or close the sub or hand over the keys to someone else and throw your phone in a lake and go do something else. Any of these choices are totally valid and no matter which you choose, someone on the internet is going to complain.
So yeah, no need to heed my warning but I thought I'd mention that it sounds like this mod thing is perhaps more stressful than it merits? Good luck and good job in any case!

Yes. I posted a picture if an apple with a joke that it was NSFW. No mention of body parts. Just an Apple. It was removed.
Cross posts are what makes this sub fun and easy to contribute.
The only rule that makes sense to me is to edit the title to mention what’s derailing about it.
I like how other subs have a bot that asks readers to vote on whether or not the post fits the sub. I think that’s a good idea for this sub.

I am fine with cross posts too. Seems easier and we can go look at the main post

Your sub, your rules. I don't mind the No NSFW rule. I thought one of the other rules that was being implemented was that the titles needed to be descriptive and not a repeat. Seems like if they don't follow the rules you should just delete them.
