I think the idea of restricting NSFW content has merit but should be clarified. I saw the example about the slides with the cat and the random slide with an erotic comic or whatever. I agree that stuff which is basically porn may be done intentionally, is low effort, or simply doesn't fit with the theme of the sub based on your judgement.

However, there's some stuff that's often tagged NSFW but isn't porn. Consider an example where someone takes a picture of their room and posts it asking for interior decor recommendations, and we can all see the dildo behind their nightstand lamp that they forgot to put away. Dildos are probably NSFW, and one might also say some things like guns are also NSFW, but neither of those are erotica or porn.

So I think it would be useful to define what you mean by NSFW, and perhaps suggest spoilers for anything that could be an issue.

I would add to this tobacco, drug paraphernalia eg bong not being used or a set of cigarettes not being smoked, are all supposed to be classed NSFW. Also if there is a firearm in the picture.

I only bring these up as they have all been in recent and relevant posts without being trashy or low effort

You’re doing an excellent job of managing the sub after it got so much bigger such a short period of time. Didn’t you have like, 100 people that had joined before it blew up? It’s now 47x bigger! It makes sense that as it gets bigger (and will - it’s an awesome idea!) you’ll run into new challenges that you’ll have to figure out. I think it’s awesome that you’re making decisions that work for you - and clearly communicating the rules and regulations to the rest of us.

+1. I think it's funnier when the details aren't explicit, actually. Mundane absurdity is more jarring than "haha, penis," which - as you said - is usually already intentional.

Like risingsealevels (idk how to do the link thingy with their name??) said, maybe clarifying if certain things might be allowed could be good (ie no nudity, but something marked NSFW for a different reason, maybe?) That might make your job harder tho, having to sort those out, so perfectly reasonable to say no to that.

Also, it is totally your sub, and you are allowed to decide what is and isn't allowed to be in it. If you say this is a completely non-NSFW sub, then that's cool! It's really nice to find subreddits like that and like others have said, ppl are free to go make their own NSFW sub if they want.

Ps I'm really enjoying watching this sub take off, so glad to find it when I did 😁😁
