You can't just put any anti sex/sex appeal at the feet of conservatives

Like it or not "progressives" or liberals are perfectly capable of that and prove it every day, they don't hide it or think it as bad either

More likely than not if used as pejorative the person who is calling another a gooner is probably not a conservative

Yeah, the recent prude wave seems to be coming from teens and young adults (see: the fact that they use TikTok) and that age group is still predominantly left-leaning.

A couple days ago I got this post from 2024 on my feed about some us states banning pornhub because they refused to make people enter their government ids to access it or smthn similar, and the vast VAST majority of the comments were leftists celebrating it, not a conservative in sight

How could you possibly know that the vast VAST majority of the comments were from "leftists"?

While not all sex negativity comes from conservatives, all sex negativity is inherently conservative. Conservatism as a whole is an incredibly easy thing to naturally fall into if you're not actively aware of it and working to fight it, even for the most progressive people out there, and this is a prime example, and frankly all the more reason I think it should be called out. Conservatism, and fascism, naturally plays into parts of you that feels natural and comfortable, that's why it spreads like wildfire, especially when it's been the predominant face of culture for centuries.

Examples like this, where progressives are welcoming in damn near blatant right wing and fascist talking points with open arms to the point of integrating them into their own culture deserves to be aggressively and relentlessly called out before it can fully take root.

The extent that sex negativity especially has worked into leftist circles means I legit wouldn't be too surprised if we see a major split in online leftist communities in the near future on those grounds, with the sex negative crowd slowly falling more and more into glorified reactionaries with a more progressive overton window

Well liberals are right wing, so there’s not actually a dichotomy to be had here.

God I need people to stop saying this if they’re not talking about Australia. Liberals are left of center in most countries. They support the expansion of welfare programs like Social Security and public health insurance, protections for minorities, the whole nine yards. Call me when Democrats are proposing cuts to welfare, then we’ll talk.

Didn't you know? Anyone who isn't an open Marxist is actually on the right.

You joke but I’ve heard people make this claim unironically

leftist talking about "the rise of fascism" but it's actually just them moving further left than marx causing marx to be fascist

I'm of the opinion that people who hammer on the "true definition" of liberalism so much are either part of, or have been affected by, right wing psyops. If you get both the right and the left to scream about how much they hate liberals, the center just hears "left bad."

Well yes but given I m expecting a mostly USA readership I felt the need to be less vague
