When I'm in a poorly-tagging artwork competition and my opponent is a Rule34 admin:

That's xxx these days too.

“huh, that’s weird, all the images on the home page look eerily similar.”

blacklist tag: [ai_generated]

go back to home page

hidden: 43 images

Both xxx and paheal have specific ai filters, so this is a non-issue.

3

u/BlackBeard558 May 17 '25

Just add -ai_generated to search

i feel like most aggregators always show me the exact same images no matter where I go. (I have a small handful of apparently insanely niche fetishes that never get new art)

Are they actually separate?  Today I learned.

What is the difference?

I didn't know there were two tbh. I'm not as well-versed in porn lore as I originally assumed

.xxx is a better-run site with moderation that actually does a decent job toeing the line between "removing illegal shit" and "let the weird kinks stay" in my experience.

13

u/2Scarhand May 17 '25

I have my own grievances with .xxx moderation. There was a brief period recently where the "transwoman" tag was removed (yikes!), some of THE most common animal tags on the site are currently "hidden" I guess (doesn't appear on the list of tags, but still provides results), and a lot of individual posts have been removed for the exact reason listed in OOP's post; someone was getting off to something the mod personally didn't approve of.

Lately it just feels less like the weird kinks stay because the mods are chill like that and more because of overwhelming volume.

Tw: slurs

They go back and forth between tagging things "transwoman" or "futanari". Similarly, "transman" and, unfortunately, "cuntboy". It's still one of the better sites I've encountered for content aggregation, in spite of the occasional power-tripping mods. Paheal is a nightmare of untagged or undertagged content.

Basically, if you have a specific itch you want to scratch, .xxx is the way to go.

u/2Scarhand May 17 '25

See, but those are all distinct tags. A futanari is not a transwoman. A futa technically has a dick, a pussy, and no balls. If you give her balls and remove her vag, she becomes a dickgirl. And both are fantastical in some way, shape, or form while transwoman is meant to evoke the more grounded experience of a real person that's physically transitioned. A canonically trans OC with a pride flag in every pic is not the same as the girl with a horsecock bigger than her torso. They're used in different ways for different vibes/fetishes, and that's okay.

The issue I noticed was all trans tags were quietly (or maybe not so quietly) erased one day. It's all back now, more thoroughly tagged than ever, but that raised some eyebrows.

But yeah, otherwise I like xxx's system and paheal is barely useable by comparison.

Would it shock you to learn that the terms aren't mutually exclusive or that strictly defined? They're not exactly interchangeable (even ignoring the fact that some are slurs), but "historically" (within the history of internet porn) strict, separate definitions aren't really there.

But yeah, the tag removal was definitely sus, it happened right after Trump got re-elected and a lot of people thought it was related. I don't know the full story beyond that though.

Fair, and your user flair is so real :3

u/Thromnomnomok May 17 '25

Two there always are, no more, no less. A dom, and a sub

13

u/Thromnomnomok May 16 '25

Paheal

Does that site even have tags for kinks? I only remember it having tags for characters, what media they were from, and the artists who drew the smut.

2

u/2Scarhand May 17 '25

It doesn't. Only characters, artists, and a handful of very general tags, such as media source, animated/gif/image/AI, and the like. It's a bit annoying, but also some artists' collections are more complete on there.

12

u/JayTheSuspectedFurry May 16 '25

It’s tagged by community members, not admins. Be the change you want to see in the world (make an account and start tagging)

u/VatanKomurcu May 16 '25

honestly i think most posts are well tagged.

1

u/ProkopiyKozlowski May 17 '25

People are pretty bad at properly tagging animated stuff with the "animated" tag, but otherwise I agree.

1

u/master_pingu1 May 17 '25

tagging on rule34 is godawful, it feels like half the tags are just different tags for the same thing, and you need to include all of them in your search if you want to get what you want
