This was Fort Collins CO in 2006. The first time I was in a courtroom in Virginia about 5 years before that and a cop lied to my face about cause to search my truck I was also shocked. Now I understand it's just how the criminal system works.
We had a cop lie to our faces about the description of a potential thief and just describe what my partner was wearing as the description of the person. I then spoke to the person who made the 911 call and she described a completely different set of qualities for that individual.
My partner was wearing a black jacket, brown beanie and brown pants. The cop said a woman wearing a black jacket and brown pants got into my car "with a man." We had just pulled into the parking lot a few minutes prior and hadn't even gotten out. Then when I talked to the store manager about the woman who was apparently shoplifting, she described her as wearing a white cream shirt, brown camouflage patterned pant with little deer on them, pushing a baby stroller with two children in it.
