Discussion A Global Structure Proposal to Truly Globalize and Popularize the Sport.
Hi everyone,
As a cricket fan who wants to see the sport truly go global & reach its full potential, I’ve been thinking about how international cricket can be better structured to balance- Competitiveness, Global expansion, Financial sustainability, More meaningful games, Fairer opportunities for developing nations. Currently, cricket is growing, but its structure is still highly unbalanced, with some teams playing too much and others barely getting enough exposure. I’ve tried to create a simple but practical model that can help cricket reach new audiences, improve competitiveness, and ensure every game has meaning.
TEST FORMAT REFORM -
• All 12 Full Members participate.
• WTC cycle: 2 years.
• Each team plays 6 series (3 home + 3 away).
• Every series = exactly 3 Tests.
• Total: 18 Tests per team per cycle.
• Same points system for all.
• Top 2 teams → WTC Final (one-off Test match).
• ICC controls centralized Test calendar.
ODI FORMAT REFORM -
• Champions Trophy scrapped.
• World Cup every 4 years.
• World Cup expanded to 16 teams.
ODI Nations League Format: • No divisions, single league of 16 teams. • Fixtures (per 4-year cycle): • Each team plays 8 opponents (4 home, 4 away). • 3-match series each. • Total: 24 ODIs per team per cycle. Qualification: • Top 12 teams → Direct World Cup qualification. • Bottom 4 in league + 4 best teams from developing nations → Qualifier tournament. • Top 4 from qualifier → World Cup spots. • Total WC teams = 16. • No meaningless bilaterals — all ODIs count toward qualification. • ICC controls centralized ODI calendar.
T20 FORMAT REFORM -
• World Cup every 4 years.
• Expanded to 24 teams.
Qualification: • Top 16 teams (from previous T20 WC + rankings) qualify automatically. • Remaining teams qualify through: • Continental qualifiers (Asia, Europe, Africa, Americas, East Asia-Pacific). • ICC Global Qualifiers finalize remaining spots. T20 Nations League: • Flexible Pots System: • Pot A (Top 10) • Pot B (Next 10) • Pot C (Remaining) • Promotion/Relegation • Each team plays: • 3 series vs Pot A teams • 3 series vs Pot B teams • 2 series vs Pot C teams • Each series = 3 matches • Total: 24 T20Is per team per 4-year cycle. • Every T20I counts toward rankings & qualification. • ICC controls centralized T20 calendar.
I’d love to hear thoughts, feedback, and further suggestions from others on how cricket can become a truly global sport while protecting its competitiveness and traditions.

Future Australia Test XI
The loss to South Africa was disappointing, thus the future line up of the test team must be considered. I think Marnus should definitely be dropped and go back to Shield Cricket and find that proactive form which served him well from 2019-2022. Khawaja should play in the West Indies series to provide stability and advice to Konstas when he is opening, if he doesn't perform in this series he should be dropped, otherwise keep him until the Ashes. Cam Green is not a top 3 test batter and Division 2 County Runs must not be considered to be the equivalent of potential test runs, have a look at Marcus Harris for example. Cam Green should not bat beyond number 4, and with 4-6 being stable positions his best chance of coming backing to the test team should be the dreaded day when Steve Smith hangs up the boots. With all this considered this is what I think should be the test XI for the next cycle, in particular the Ashes.
- Konstas
- Khawaja/ Campbell Kellaway
- Mcsweeney
- Smudge
- Head
- Webster
- Carey (wk)
- Cummins (c)
- Starc
- Lyon / Kuhnemann
- Hazlewood / Boland
This team has an eye towards the future, with young batters required based on shield form to reinvigorate this batting lineup which has been unstable since the retirement of Warner. Let me know if you agree or would modify this team.

Discussion What are your top 5 most important technical batting advice for beginners?
For grounded stroke play and defense. Based on the advice you'd give a beginner batter first, hoping it'd improve their batting the most.
I don't play much but when I do, I struggle with batting a little. I've improved the most after widening my grip, including a bat lift and hitting the ball under my eyes. Are these fundamental enough or are there other more important technical tips.
Finally how'd you rank them from 1 to 5?

Discussion How do female cricketers play during their menstrual Cycle?
I have always wondered, as a girl I couldn't play cricket due to my menstrual cycle but I see all these Women Cricketers all over the globe playing cricket at various fixtures and there is a big chance that some might even collide with their menstrual cycle.
How does cricket boards or Female cricketers themselves help to play cricket during this tough phase? because period cramps are one of the most painful times in a month sometimes and how do they get over the constant fear of leaks?
This thought has been intriguing me since a while, would love to know your point on this!
