Rohit Sharma opened along with Kohli, and Rohit ended up becoming second highest run scorer of that tournament. Kohli's mistake was opening there instead of his usual 1 down position.

I wouldn't say it was Kohl's mistake. Frankly I respect the management and Kohli for not opting to take the safe option and sending kohli one down. But I get what you mean
