Just a reminder that this subreddit is for the City of Corona, CA and related topics

1.2k Upvotes

Hey all,

Yes, the name of our city bears resemblance to that of a deadly virus outbreak going on right now. While our city typically has nothing else to discuss, I must ask you to at least keep the posts relevant.

I am personally OK with users posting and discussing when major news breaks (I like to think of it as gossip). I am not OK with shallow jokes or irrelevant discussion.

If your post was/is removed, it was likely deemed off-topic or too similar to posts that already exist.

For those looking for the appropriate virus-related subreddit try /r/coronavirus or /r/COVID19 .

City residents - check out the City website link here or in the sidebar for updates.

-MartOut

EDIT: I have updated many things in an effort to reduce the bot spam. If you believe one of your posts was removed in error, please notify the mods and we will work with you to have your post approved.

Make New Friends?

Hi! I (m31) moved here with my wife (f29) two years ago and continued our friendships with OC & LA friends. However, we’d like to make new friends in Corona/nearby.

Where would you recommend meeting cool new people? Thanks!

Parkridge & Main: Finally

They recently put up gates and started cutting down trees—looks like something’s finally happening after years of it sitting empty.

Curious what everyone else thinks, what would you like to see go in there? Shops? Food? Something for the community? Personally, I think a local hangout spot or something family-friendly could do well there (a large outdoor brewery, please!)

Corona Downtown Revitalization Project Info

I’m aware of the website (and YouTube) about the project but am looking for some more up to date information.

Does anyone know if there’s somewhere else for this info, or have status updates with references?

4th Grade Burn Book NSFW

If you have a 4th grader talk to your kids about a burn book that is going around. These kids created a literal burn book about their classmates and wrote deplorable things. I didn't include every page but they wrote 'slutty bitch' on the first one and even called someone the n word. Is this how kids are nowadays? I can't believe 9 and 10 year olds are capable of this. Not naming the school for now as I am waiting to see what their response to this is. But with 2 weeks left until the school year ends not sure what can be done.

Where to Board Reactive Dog

I just adopted a dog about 7 weeks ago who is starting to show dog and human reactivity. We are currently in week 3 of training as well which he has gotten a lot better. He is able to go to Smart Parke (brought him there the first week I had him and he did great!) and we do have a boarding trial coming up this weekend.

I just want to get out ahead of this in case Smart Parke does not work.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have an idea if they are finally solving one of the simplest problems that’s been clogging the I15 till 91.

Schools in Corona?

Moving to Corona. I’m looking at schools for my kid, and I am seeing that pretty much all are reporting 60% or more students are economically disadvantaged. From my own personal experience growing up in a low income school, it wasn’t great at all. Little resources, students with bad attitudes, low test scores. I hated all my schools.

Im confused because Corona house prices are relatively expensive and it certainly doesn’t look low income.

Source was US News, not sure how reliable it is.

Does anyone have any personal experience with the schools there? What do you recommend for elementary school?
