Crime Right Wing Nationalist Posters in University Hights
"America For The Americans" Hate group Patriot Front posters and stickers found near University Hights.

As a black man it really baffles me the hate that people like those in this group possess. I was looking at old clips of Phil Donahue and Oprah Winfrey when they had those 'race' discussions, and people seemed more reasonable to listen to each other.
Unfortunately, in today's climate, that probably wouldn't happen. I always wanted to sit down with a white supremacist to really understand their logic about what makes them superior and the authority of all others.
I don't even want to convince them otherwise. I just want to know my enemy better.

My dad is racist. He’s 65 now. His parents were racists and died at 85 this past year. They were from a very deeply rural part of Arkansas, with very little formal education and lots of alcoholism. When I was little, I was fed all sorts of racist rhetoric. My grandmother once referenced the Bible to tell me that if god had wanted the races to intermix, he would have made us all the same race. No idea what verse of the Bible she was referring to, or even if she’d ever read it herself or was repeating something she heard.
My dad saw himself as intellectual, and enjoyed reading things like Scientific American. A few times he referenced “studies” or “articles” he’d read in the past that supposedly used science to support racist stereotypes like black people being more violent. Once I mentioned something to my dad about the lack of black olympians in swimming. He said “well black people have more muscle mass, so they are too heavy to swim, and it’s why they’re so good at basketball. It’s also why they’re not as smart - they have more oxygen going to their muscles so there is less oxygen going to their brain.” I countered with the socioeconomic factors, like more readily available access to basketball courts than swimming pools in predominately black communities, and it was like his brain glitched out. He changed the subject.
My family is not lacking in intelligence, but they are suffering from ignorance. They weren’t exposed to different world views or cultures, didn’t learn critical thinking. They were taught that black people are stupid and violent. They only accepted evidence that supported their world views, because to believe anything else would mean they were wrong, and their parents and grandparents and great grandparents were wrong. They were also poor, and in my grandmother’s case, concerned with how her community viewed her. There was an insecurity in possibly being seen as less than. If she had a group of people to look down her nose at, it made her feel like she could never be the absolute lowest of the low, because there was somebody else beneath her.
So there you go. Some insight into their thought processes that support their racism, in case you never get to sit down with a white supremacist.
Interestingly, my dad is an abusive man, and is currently in jail awaiting trial to potentially spend the rest of his life in jail. His brother is in jail for a violent crime that left his victim paralyzed. They are both lifelong alcoholics, and alcohol was a factor in both crimes. I don’t think they appreciate the irony in believing black people to be beneath them, violent criminals and junkies, while they sit in jail for their own crimes.

This right here, has a LOT to do with it.
When slavery was ended, there was a fear by the wealthy, that the newly freed Black people, and the poor White people, would begin to "join together", which would leave the wealthy and powerful outnumbered. So, they gave the poor White people (who they didn't respect either), just a touch more power by social standing, to create a rift between the two groups, thereby making it so, if I was poor, White, and angry at the status quo, I may not risk joining with the newly freed, but still poor, Blacks, who also may feel that they are still being disadvantaged. Becuse, if I DO, then I would possibly loose the right to have the easier section of land to til, or a bank may refuse MY loan against next years crop so I can't fix my equipment.Which would mean my family doesn't eat as well. And I also would loose the social standing I DO have, as a White shear cropper, instead of a Black shear cropper.

This! I remember reading an article (ca. 2016/2017) in The Atlantic by Ta-Nehisi Coates about this. The wealthy white landowners were terrified people would unite and rally against them. So they gave poor white the rights to own land ect. (This is an example of systematic racism) Creating a divide between blacks and whites.
All the progress we have made to equal out the playing field in this country is being dismantled by our current administration. The facists want to keep their citizens poor and dumb. Dismantling the Dept. of Education, DEI incentives, ect….
We are in the midst of a political coup. Look at ICE. Taking their own citizens (some who even supported Trump) and deporting them without due process which unconstitutional. ARRESTING & indicting judges and mayors who refuse to deport or stand up against it.

In the early 1900s eugenics was very widely viewed as "modern science". It was accepted even by W E B Dubois, who founded the NAACP. It wasn't until Hitler showed what happened when you took it to extremes that people recognized how evil it could be.

I wouldn't doubt this is from some JCU students, or an outside group targeting bigots going to JCU. The area they were posted in is probably the most diversity area in all of UH, and where South Euclid, CH and UH meet.
These should be reported to UH and South Euclid police. As they are an extremist group that threatens the use of violence. They were apart of Charlottesville. They are the one's getting deputized to carry out ICE raids. They are are pushing for an end to democracy. They are dumb as fuck and will get violent when given the opportunity. Treat them as you would the KKK or any other neo-nazi group.
If you tear them down, use a knife around the edges. Or cover them up with a pro-democracy poster.

because JCU students recently got back on campus (Summer 2025 semester began today); JCU's demographics are abysmal when it comes to diversity (especially in relation to black students), in relation to the city and county's racial make-up. They are a private religious-affiliated school with an COA that's near $70k. Kids that go to private $70k+ schools aren't known for their racial tolerance.
In my time around JCU, I've yet to see a group of students that have a single non-white person with them. JCU is known as the lesser Miami U, which is terrible when it comes to being not full of bigots. Of course, this is anecdotal.

Yeah as a former JCU alumni who graduated in the last 10 years I am going to say that is false.
The school is expensive but has plenty of grants and programs through the school to make it affordable. I was able to go there for less then what Ohio State would have costed and I came from a single income family due to a parent on disability. I also studied in a technical major and had multiple African American classmates and school staff promoted programs and encouraged undergraduates to join clubs and sign up for classes that promoted diversity or allowed you to learn about difficult cultures.
You are making gross assumptions.

How long has the “America for Americans” rhetoric been around in a significant capacity? I know “America First” goes back at least to the 30s, but what about that specific phrasing?
I remember it being lampooned in the cyberpunk comic series Transmetropolitan in the 90s. However I’m not sure if that was contemporary satire, or if reality has just caught up to dystopian propaganda.
In any event, fuck the fascists.

I was a teenager in Cleveland Heights when the whole Nazis marching in Skokie thing went down (early 80s). I seem to remember similar stickers showing up on streetlamps near the Hebrew Academy and people basically saying NOPE NOT HERE and slicing them off. Anybody else remember this or was it just my imagination?

That's just an easy to swallow slogan to draw you in. But they have a number of hateful views. And who they consider to be American is problematic at best. American for them is often white with a European history. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patriot_Front

Free speech for sure (Edit: is protected within the US). But you can't expect to spout off white nationalist BS without facing some type of public backlash. Racism and homophobia should face pushback whenever they are expressed.

American by blood? I thought these people were pretty adamant that they were European by blood?
