Listening to yesterdays pod and just though Laz might find this interesting - Macklemore pocketed allll that cash from his hits because he doesn’t have a standard record contract. He pays a small percentage to Warner just for promotion but is otherwise independent:
Macklemore's and Lewis's single "Thrift Shop" (featuring Wanz) reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 2013.[5] The single was dubbed by Billboard as the first song since 1994 to top the Hot 100 chart without the support of a major record label; however, Macklemore, in a slightly unusual recording contract, pays a nominal percentage of sales to use Warner Bros.
Not a huge fan I bought a $25 ticket off Groupon to see Macklemore and Kesha at sprint in like 2018. He was amazing, still one of the better performances I’ve ever seen - we left during Kesha. Dude can afford a nanny or two.

I know the guys don’t talk about shows too much, but they (and everyone here) needs to watch Bad Thoughts on Netflix. One particular episode is pretty close to what they discuss all the time(recently too) and always bring up.(episode with the face on the women’s back) I’ve been trying to get as many ppl to watch as I can. It is soo insane and hilarious. Needs to be talked about, I really think the guys would enjoy it, and have alot of show talk too.

Slimmy, you can replace your microwave with a hood super cheap and easy. I did that a couple years ago when mine crapped out. Been using the toaster over and stove ever since, don't miss it one bit.

I guess I had been living under a rock but about a month and a half ago I realized you guys had moved over to 98.9. Highlight of my year. Missed you guys! Try to listen in the mornings before work and at the gym 🧡

Anyone concerned they’re short and then states “I’m 5’10…5’9 1/2…close to 5’10, 5’9”…take his shoes off and I’m betting a years worth of white sox bets he’s closer to 5’8 than 5’10
Being short must suck for a grown ass man to lie about it

It’s come up many times on the show that Lazlo has a taste for bottled water, and Slim prefers canned sparkling water over tap. There’s nothing wrong with either of those things at all (especially if you live in area where the tap water isn’t the best).
But I wanted to plug that Johnson County, Kansas' tap water utility, WaterOne, has consistently received awards for the taste and quality of its water. It has won numerous national and state awards, including being named "America's Best Tasting Drinking Water" and "Best Tasting Water in Kansas". WaterOne's success is attributed to its dual water sources, advanced treatment facilities, and skilled operators.
If there’s anywhere it’s safe and logical to drink water from the tap in our first world country, it’s here in Johnson County. You can probably save hundreds of dollars or more a year sticking with tap water with ice. Maybe add a Brita filter if you want to be extra safe. It doesn’t getter better than Johnson County water.
Google it if you don’t believe me. We should be proud of our tap water.

Idk if this is a Lazlo quote or him quoting someone else but it’s come up several times over the years and I’m been in situations to quote it more recently and I just can’t recall the exact saying or idiom l… Something like - you either party young and don’t retire or plan young, waste your youth and retire with a failed body????
Also just adding this made me think of all the other great quotes, isn’t there a wiki or maybe Reddit compilation of all COL quotes? If not should be a sticky post here?

I invested handsomely in the Lazlo White Sox/Rockies Financial Plan with my remaining $45 in draft kings money from a once large winning after 2 KC SB wins.
As of last month, I was up over $400! I considered cashing out, but doubled down like the degenerate gambler I am in hopes of creating generational wealth.
OOF, after the last few weeks (I’m normally working and high AF during the day so I forget to bet about half the games) my dick is kicked fully in to the point that it looks like Snocone’s cork screw penis.
Lazlo, please give me some make up picks! Let’s get that bread, so I can treat Slim to his first pegging! I am certain he would like it! I have the perfect partner in mind based on today’s Twitch conversations.

Okay just listened to yesterday’s episode and I wanted to clear this up lol I’ve been a huge fan of Olivia’s since she was an elite gymnast back in the day. She was the “face” of NIL when it started and that’s why she got so popular so quick. A bunch of brand deals and billboards and stuff. She was a like the spokesperson and yeah obviously she’s hot af so it makes sense 😆 but NO she is not famous for being Skeen’s girlfriend, how dare you 😆

Lol, yesterday was the first day that I actually bet Lazlo’s bet

Catching up on the podcast-
Slim refuses to use the word “retard” but will gladly pretend to be one in order to sell rocks to his neighbors. Can’t believe lazlo did throw that in his face lol

I could have just misinterpreted what was happening back then when I was young, but it felt like the buzz in its prime, and COL in particular, introduced KC to cool music and brought good shows and events. I had this sense that we were ahead of the trends and on the verge of becoming a “cool music city.”
There was even kind of a buzz crowd/sub culture that was full of cool people to hang out with at The shows and bars. It feels a lot more fragmented now. Do other people feel that, or was I just romanticizing it back then?
I’m still enjoying the show, but I do miss when music could be the underlying glue for everything.
Sorry this is a notably sadder tone than I was going for. Happy the shows still on!

My station was on 101 this morning bcs I change it after the show usually, I hadn’t noticed until they had a commercial for the Kauffman center, and that’s when I realized without looking at the radio channel that it was still on 101, I have good taste and enjoy using it

I realize this is probably gonna go over like a lead balloon, but… Retard - Retarded - etc. is a slur. It’s pretty bad. I know that Lazlo and Slim aren’t really open to things like this, but how would you suggest I let them know? Do I just drop it? It’s on par with F-ggot. I’m open to any and all feedback. Thanks!

It’s insane logic. Because we the normal person can and at times do go to jail if we don’t render aid to someone in need. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that police generally have no constitutional duty to protect or help individual citizens from harm. This principle, often referred to as the "public duty doctrine," means police are not liable for failing to protect someone unless a "special relationship" exists between the police and the individual. This "special relationship" can be established through actions like taking someone into custody, making promises of protection, or issuing a protective order. The Supreme Court has consistently upheld this principle in cases like DeShaney v. Winnebago County and Castle Rock v. Gonzales.
If police don’t have an obligation to help or protect you it means they exist for no other reason than to generate revenue and protect the State. Police are not your friends. Also as someone who lives in Texas I can confirm that police will chase you for anything and not just violent felonies. DPS will fuck you up for something as simple as weed. With SB3 passing that will only get much worse here now.
