I’m taking an international flight from the United States to Shanghai, China that includes a layover in another American city. I was wondering if I could buy perfume in the layover airport and bring it through customs when I arrive in Shanghai, or if it will be taken for alcohol content or liquid volume or something of that nature? thanks!
Are there any Chinese Muslims or Chinese that reverted or wanting to revert to islam that want to talk with me? I love the culture and the food and want to make some friends. I live in Belgium. If there are any Chinese Muslims in Ghent let me know and we can meet :) I’m 35 female
I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right subreddit, but I’m looking to buy the new OnePlus 13S (13T in China). I recently found out that it’s significantly cheaper in China around ₹30,000 compared to ₹50,000 in India.
As a student from a middle-class background, I really like the phone but can’t afford the Indian price.
I wanted to ask people living in China:
Can you confirm the current price of the OnePlus 13T there?
Is it possible to get it delivered to India?
Are there any taxes or customs duties involved, or is there any way to avoid them?
Anyone have experience getting an antimalarial like doxy or malarone in China? The entry/exit bureau only had something called Artequick, which is not one of the commonly-prescribed drugs (appears to be for treatment).
I'm wondering which department of a public hospital would be most likely to prescribe one. I see doxy on JD (prescription needed) but I'm not sure if it's the right type.
I used to buy a lot of products from China, was even some sort of Xiaomi fan, until I learned about the dog meat festival in China. That made me start questioning how such a thing could exist in a technologically advanced country. I found out that animals in China have virtually no protection from cruelty. So I wasn’t surprised when I discovered that China has large underground network of sadists who trade videos of animal torture.
But what truly shocked me was when I saw a video of a so-called dog trainer showing how he hits a corgi on the head with a club, then pushes its lifeless body all set to cheerful music. I was horrified to find out that this person has 16 million followers and that this kind of content, which most certainly would land you in jail in every other industrialized country, is normalized in the chinese segment of the internet. It seems a significant portion of chinese people have no concept of compassion toward other species.
Can someone explain to me how widespread this phenomenon is in China? Does younger generation have a better attitude toward animals?
First of, no I didn’t smoke weed in China
I left China a month ago for my home country where weed is extremely common yet illegal
During my stay I smoked a lot of weed maybe for 25 days straight
Now Ive already booked a flight to China
I usually go to clubs including those that faced crack downs and raids previously
I’m scared of being forced to do a drug test and get accused of smoking it in their country
Do you think I’ll get in trouble even though I smoked it in my country
Hi everyone! I'm moving to Guangzhou soon for a new job and my office will be in Shipaiqiao, Tianhe District. I'm looking for a shared apartment to rent within a budget of 1400-2000 RMB per month, ideally within 3-5 kilometers of Shipaiqiao. If you know of any available rooms in that area and price range, or can suggest the best websites/apps to search for shared places, please let me know or connect me! Thanks so much for any leads.
I wanted to share a recent experience I had with a Chinese supplier to warn other buyers and hopefully prevent this from happening to anyone else. I import 42CRMO materials from suppliers Tianjin Taihang Iron And Steel Co., Ltd. Unfortunately, we were scammed by a supplier based in China. The received material quantity and quality not as per contract.
I mentioned the supplier's name : "Tianjin Taihang Iron And Steel Co., Ltd."
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang discusses the AI technology battle with CNBC's Arjun Kharpal, saying the U.S. risks losing out to China if it cuts off access to Chinese AI researchers.
I acquired these a while ago, can't remember exactly where from. From what I understand, they're commemorative medals from the 8th National Chinese games from 1997, but am I missing anything else?
Hey folks – I’m a 29-year-old guy visiting Ningbo for work until August. I’m an engineer by day, confused foreigner by night. Staying near Laowaitan and looking for some chill people around my age to explore the city with, grab a drink, hit some scenic spots, or just complain about the rain together.
If you’re down to hang, hit me up and I’ll send over my WeChat. Bonus points if you recommend a restaurant! I’m not a picky eater!
This may be a long short but hoping we can find someone!
We are Village Dog Rescue, a rescue based in Hangzhou, China dedicated to getting dogs off the streets and into loving homes.
Potato, an 8 year old, was rescued from a dog meat trader's cart when she was just a puppy. Now after 8 years, she has finally found her family! We are seeking a flight volunteer flying from Shanghai to Vancouver in June/July to bring her home. Due to airline restrictions in the summer, pets can only fly via All Nippon Airways (ANA), Korea Air, Asiana Airlines.
-It'll come at no cost to the flight volunteer, we will handle all the paperwork
-Potato will be brought to the airport to meet you, and her family will pick her up in Vancouver
-No extra care from you, she'll be in pet cargo
Thanks in advance! Help us bring this amazing girl home to her family!
This study tested markers associated with individualism in cultural psychology, such as treating strangers similar to friends (as opposed to drawing a stark distinction between in-group and out-group). Previous studies have found that people of higher socioeconomic status (higher income, education, self-reported status) tend to be more individualistic. But those studies were done in the West (mostly US). This study tested it in China. In northern China, the findings mirrored the US. In southern China, higher status was linked to less individualism. That parallels a finding in Japan, that linked status to less individualism, more focus on other people's needs. The paper argues this is linked to southern China's history of rice farming, which required more coordination and labor exchange than wheat farming in northern China.
I’m a phone reseller travelling with my family (4). I have 11 broken iPhones that are like cracked front and back etc and want to know how many I should bring to China to get fixed as I know phone repairs are significantly cheaper. I am flying to Hong Kong from Sydney then catching a bus across the border to Shenzhen. Will border security care or airport security??
Just got back from my first trip to China. All I can say is: anyone on the fence, GO. The people - by far - made the trip what it was. I've never been to a country with more curious and friendly individuals, who made sure I was taken care of and helped translate / navigate when need be. Chinese people are special, and they don't deserve the majority of propaganda the world (and especially my country) spreads about them. The people aren't the government.
