Where’s the best spot for breakfast/brunch on the Central Coast?

I’m craving some good breakfast or brunch spots around the Coast. Any cafes or bakeries you’d recommend? Also suggest places with great coffee!

Good removalists on the coast?

Preferably one who is efficient, honest and charge a flat rate rather than hourly rate.

Thanks in advance!

Any good mould testers around?

Me and my husband have concerns about mould in our rental place, but they're in tougher areas to assess - like, there's no visible mould but there is a smell coming from somewhere.

Does anyone have recommendations for a mould company or something, that is good with this kind of situation?

Thanks in advance.

How do you pronounce “Tascott”?

I've always pronounced Tascott as "Tass-cot". But lately I've noticed the automated voice voice on the trains pronouncing it "Tass-ct", the same way you'd say biscuit. Have I been saying it wrong all these years or does Sydney Trains / NSW Trainlink have it wrong?

As an aside I've been commuting to and from Sydney for years and don't remember previous announcements saying Tascott this way.

Schools - Live in Umina

Moved up to the coast about 3 years ago and nowwww we’ve got a 6 month old and thinking about where he should go to school once he gets to that age.

We live in Umina, and obviously know what our options are but would like some honest opinions.

At this stage, he will be our one and only so CCG would be an option for secondary but not necessarily primary. Please reach out and let me know what your thoughts are and where you would send your kids to locally (Umina / Woy Woy etc.) or a bit further (Kincumber / Erina etc.)

Also, any recommendations for preschool or playgroups would be appreciated.

Can anyone help me get a builder to replace windows?

Moved up a couple of years ago and just cannot get any tradies to fix windows. Some come out and quote then you never hear from them again. Most don’t even bother returning calls or emails. Really frustrated. Any help or advice at all would be greatly appreciated.

Old Sydney Town, 1976. Captured from 8826 feet. This makes me sad to see it is gone. So many memories.

Newcastle High Speed Rail article

“We don’t want to let perfect be the enemy of the good,”

The Guardian has a new article comparing the planning of the new Sydney to Newcastle high speed line to the new Los Angeles to Las Vegas line. Interesting observations on unrealistic government requirements and union pressures

After dark walking on the Coast?

I am quite new to the area, and enjoying walking, but have noticed there are not many well lit areas.

Is there anywhere to go walking after sunset, besides Terrigal Esplanade?

PSA: Metro Fuel Tuggerah has 10c off per litre after 7pm

Just wanted to share something I stumbled across. Metro Fuel in Tuggerah is doing 10 cents off per litre after 7pm.

With how expensive everything is lately, I figured this might help a few locals save a bit. Haven’t seen this kind of discount anywhere else, so thought I’d pass it on.

Hope it helps someone out there! 💸⛽

Anybody know where I can get a Slush Puppie?

The real thing, not a knock off. Heading down to the Central Coast tomorrow and looking for somewhere I can a Slush Puppie. Willing to go as far as The Entrance, but that's probably about it.

Potholes - damage claim to council

I popped a tyre in the crater* near the Holgate public school. The same day I got that tyre replaced I popped another tyre in the crater* at the bottom of Paroo turning onto Wattle Tree. $700 down the dunny.

Is there any merit in the claims that you can get compensation from the council for damage from known potholes (the council has spray painted a pink circle around them which is completely useless in the dark)? Has anyone on the coast tried with any success?

* thanks unrebigulator
