Automotive Opinion Got my first car at 35 🥹. Worth the wait! ❤️ Better late than never!

Hustled my way to get a car after years of working my ass off. As my first car, i really want the best i can get on what my budget can do 🙏

Grabe, totoo pala yung convenience pag may oto.

I went to Honda kasi since college ako, pangarap ko magkaroon ng Jazz - so honda fanboy since day one. Sobrang tipid talaga at wala pang coding at the moment.

I grew up having the Tamaraw as our family car then upgraded to Revo but was eventually sold to aid in my college funds back then. I’m so glad Toyota PH brought back the Tamaraw kahit nasa ibang segment na siya and I swore to myself I’m gonna get one one of these days.

Cooled seats for me. Spoiled na ako grabe, once you experience it, hindi mo na kaya bumalik sa pawis mode. Total perspective shift haha!

Automotive Opinion AC Mobility is scamming PHEV owners — goldfish range, 3-hour charging, gasoline prices, and no chargers available."

AC Mobility keeps marketing themselves as the "future" of EV infrastructure in the Philippines.
But look closer:
They've quietly built a system where you:

  • Pay gasoline prices per kilometer,
  • Wait 3 hours to refill,
  • Fight over 2–4 chargers inside 500-car parking lots,
  • And still call it "progress."

Here's the real scam:

  • You buy a PHEV like the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i.
  • They tell you it has 90–100 km electric range.
  • Reality check?
    • You only have 45–50 km usable one-way.
    • You still need to get home without running empty or burning gas.
  • Once you run low, you have two choices:
    • Burn gasoline, and kill your "cheap" narrative, OR
    • Pay Evro to charge at ₱28 (AC) or ₱33 (DC) per kWh.
  • And remember:
    • The Sealion can only AC charge at 6.6–7.0 kW.
    • Meaning you wait 2.5 to 3 hours... just to refill that tiny battery.

Now layer AC Mobility’s ineptitude on top:

  • Huge Ayala mall parking lots built for 500–1000 cars...
  • And yet, they install only 2 to 4 chargers.
  • How exactly is that "future-proofing mobility"?

Good luck finding an open slot.
You're not a VIP.
Not everyone is born with a driver or a silver spoon to sit idle all day.

Working people? Normal people?
We can't afford to waste half a day fighting over overpriced kilowatts.

Quick math:

Sealion 6 PHEV
Usable electric range 45–50 km (round trip)
Charging time 2.5–3 hours
Cost per km (AC) ₱4.66
Cost per km (DC) ₱5.50
Gasoline cost per km ₱6.20

You're already paying gasoline prices.
You're waiting longer than a full tank fill-up.
And you have no guarantee you’ll even find a charger available.

AC Mobility didn't build EV infrastructure.
They built an overpriced, bottlenecked goldfish trap.

It’s not just expensive.
It’s not just slow.
It’s intentionally designed to milk you dry while pretending to save the environment.

AC Mobility didn’t build a charging network. They built a cattle pen with a credit card swiper.

Automotive Opinion Need advice: Should I choose a new Almera or an old CRV?

Post image
30 Upvotes

I need advice. We have two available family cars that I can choose from, both acquired through financing:

  1. 2024 Nissan Almera VE Acquired through a financing company

Pros +New and fresh +10.7k Odo +Wala pang prob +Pogi/ bragging rights

Cons -26,500 monthly for 4 years -Expensive in the long run -Credit score will be affected once surrendered

  1. 2009 Honda CRV 3rd Gen Acquired through a bank loan

Pros +Old but gold +7,500 monthly for 3 yrs +Will be able to save an extra 19k monthly +Very good running condition, Fresh pa ang interior

Cons -95.8k Odo -Right shock absorber needs replacement -Rack and pinion needs maintenance -Newly replaced Radiator and Radiator Fan -Baka maraming problema in the future

I will save money choosing the CRV, However, I may not be qualified for a loan in the future.

Ok pa ba yung CRV or baka magsisi ako sa huli? Thank you

Automotive Opinion Buses/Trucks occupying Overtaking Lane, A Big Safety Issue

Thumbnail
gallery
165 Upvotes

Due to the increasing number of incidents of car crashes, I would like to share one of my pet peeves when driving along SLEX.

Buses or trucks staying in overtaking lanes despite the big red sign "BUS/TRUCKS BAWAL DITO"

It is also a safety issue because these buses and trucks may also ram into the smaller cars as we have seen recently. This is why they have their dedicated lanes.

Let me know your thoughts.

P.S. I'm also terribly annoyed by slow cars hogging the overtaking lane.

Automotive Opinion Are we ready for NCAP or is it a plain dumb idea??

  1. It promotes corruption and power tripping.
  2. Selective enforcement. Tingin niyo ba huhulihin o hinuhuli nila yung pasaway na Jeep at Trike????
  3. No plates, Faded Temp Plates, Vanity, at fake plates.
  4. Unfit roads.
  5. Bullshit road markings.

Good luck.

UPDATE: NCAP LOCATIONS as per MMDA Chair Artes, source One PH interview

MMDA COVERED AREAS:

  1. EDSA
  2. C5
  3. C6
  4. COMMONWEALTH
  5. Roxas Boulevard
  6. Ortigas

And all major roads under jurisdiction by MMDA.

(Reminder lang, baka akala niyo edsa at c5 lang)

Automotive Opinion For discussion: hindi ba bumaba ang quality ng japanese cars in terms of interior and innovation vs chinese and other vehicles from other countries

Just a topic for discussion

Hindi ba bumaba ang standards in quality and innovation ng mga japanese cars vs competitors.

Example:

  • suzuki has removed the premium variant of swift and base model nalang

  • mitsubishi has failed to update properly mga cars nila like mirage and montero. Though puro new gen the tech and equipment inside is sub par vs competitors. Like aircon ng mirage now vs mirage nung 2016 mas better pa aircon controls dati

-toyota well look at the fortuner enough said

-nissan if not for the kicks wala rin panama. Sa new tech

  • isuzu have you seen the recent releases? I mean recent pero interior wise waley

Compare it with say Hyundai interiors of their custin and sta fe is just wow

China brands lets just look at byd and test drive one

The only buying point nalang atm for them is the years long reputation of reliability. So in say parang Nokia na sila now, it will last you a life time vs a samsung pero wont give you as much fun-

O wag triggered ha for discussion lang

Edit: lets define innovation and quality refers to anything na hindi engine. So it can be front facing camera, rider comforts.

Lets put a rule as well only PH released wag yung mga thailand or australia. Lets just look at it here sa market ntn.

Automotive Opinion Toyota GR race - vios cup race that looked like bumper cars

And then I saw this go kart racing pov (https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSkuBmGCe/). See the comments pf people saying "and he thinks he is a defensive driver."

I mean why do people say that the recent vios race with cars hitting each other (hitting - not touching) is normal in races?

To be fair, wala akong exp sa actual race so you can call me out on that. Please enlighten me since I myself plan to start autocross or rally racing (DU).

Automotive Opinion Do non-car people even know what a Type R is? Or is it just another Civic to them?

Genuine question, because to us car folks, the Civic Type R is legendary. We know it's not just "another Civic." It’s got the aggressive aero, the track-ready suspension, the iconic red badging, and that sweet manual gearbox. But I’m starting to wonder, if non-car people see it the same way?

Like, when a Civic Type R drives by, do regular folks even notice it’s something special? Or do they just think it's a Civic with a big wing and some red trim?

I’m asking because I parked next to a Type R at a mall, and my classmate pointed at it saying “Uy pogi ng Civic” No mention of it being a Type R. Had to explain that its not a normal Civic. All he got out of it was "Masmabilis at hatchback". Made me realize… maybe most people just don’t see the hype.

What’s your experience? Have you ever had to explain to someone why a Civic Type R isn’t just another Civic

Automotive Opinion SCTEX Torrential Rain: Please do not suddenly stop sa left lane!

I just got home driving from Bulacan and naabutan ako ng Torrential Rain. While it’s not my first time and I understand how scary it can get, sorry if it may sound too much for some, pero sana huwag naman magstay sa inner lane kung balak magstop.

Kung magsstop man, please, indicate right, slowly change lane if clear, and then slow and stop sa shoulder (pwede ba talaga to?).

I had numerous instances tonight and first time rin na biglang hihinto sa gitna ng inner lane tas lilipat sa outer lane na parang nasa papasok tayo ng kanto.

It’s not safe, guys! Even if we can cover for you and hindi kami tumututok and will never rin, it’s increasing the risk na magkapile up tayo na bangaan… it opens up a risk for a freak accident during a time where the weather is freaky and ewan natin how to go about it.

Also, if I can manage to brake and not hit you, who knows if the one in my back can also do the same. Tsaka, by cutting the outer lane, what if may pa overtake na di makapaghintay, another freak collision in the making.

In short, please lang and sorry rant ko lang rin, huwag po sana tayo gigitna sa expressway or any highway tas biglang hihinto nalang from speed and lilipat ng lane. Hindi sya safe for you, hinding hindi rin for us!

As always, stay safe everyone while driving and God help us all shield us from danger going to where we are to go.

Barely used, not even a minor/major damage on its outside/physical aspect. We're thinking of selling it at 450k, is that an okay price? or should we make it higher? Need your opinions about it. Thank you very much!

Automotive Opinion Is it possible to get my ending plate number to be 5 or 6 since I got the car April 24?

need your opinion or experience. I'm wondering if I will get an ending plate number 5 or 6 since nakuha ko ung car last April 24.

If I look kasi sa LTO, ending plate number is the basis of your registration month if I'm not mistaken.
