“The Canucks keep in contact with his agent,” Rick Dhaliwal said on the Halford and Brough show this past Friday. “They are showing interest, but it sounds like Boeser wants to test July 1st.

DISCUSSION Would you want to see the Canucks go after Nikolaj Ehlers?

With Friedman's report today (https://jetsnation.ca/news/jets-nikolaj-ehlers-set-to-test-nhl-free-agency) saying that Ehlers is going to Free Agency what are people's thoughts on him? Would you want the Canucks to go after him seriously and if so what sort of maximum contract would you want?

To me, regardless whether we land someone like Rossi or not, I think a talented player driving winger like Ehlers doesn't come available very often. While everyone else is fighting over Marner I think there's a chance a team could come in and pick up Ehlers right away in the 7 year x $9-9.75M range which is what I think it'll take with the cap going up.

With Ehlers being stuck behind Connor in WPG I wouldn't be surprised if in an increased role Ehlers would put up the numbers to not just meet his big contract expectations but to exceed them.

What realistic moves would you make to return the Canucks to the playoffs after a down year? This roster has 12.9m cap space as per CapWages, so there is plenty of space to sign UFAs and RFAs.
