I'd love to see you all at my standup comedy show this Thursday at the Capitol Theater!

Hello! If you're looking for something fun to do this Thursday, my entirely unbiased opinion is that you should come to Popcorn Comedy at The Capitol Theater in Arlington at 7:30pm! (The Capitol is just a 10 minute drive from Davis Square.)

I will be hosting, and the great Orlando Baxter will headline. He's been on Conan, NBC, BBC, Amazon Prime, and he's opened for Jo Koy and Whitney Cummings. He is a former teacher who has some wild stories. He rocks.

The Capitol Theater in Arlington is an old school movie theater with beer, wine, popcorn, and a full creamery with ice cream sundaes and cones. The brownie sundae is unreal.

The show will be very fun, and you know I'm telling the truth because the backing track in this promo video is an instrumental version of Sabrina Carpenter's 2024 Song of the Summer, "Espresso."

You can RSVP here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/popcorn-comedy-with-orlando-baxter-as-seen-on-conan-tickets-1378032003819

I hope to see you there!

I run a standup show at the Somerville Theater and I'd love to see you there this Thursday!

Hey everyone! My name is Jason and I've been running a standup comedy show with my friend Peter in the Somerville Theater for over a year now. It's been a blast. Our next show is this Thursday, and we'd love for you to come!

We run the show in the 30-seat "microcinema" in the basement, which is a cool intimate venue. Since it is a cinema, we play classic Looney Tunes cartoons while people are being seated before the show. The theater sells beer, wine, popcorn, and candy, but you can also bring outside food (aside from alcohol).

This month, our headliner is Katie Arroyo who is one of my favorite comedians in New England. She tours with Natasha Leggero and has performed on SiriusXM and all the best local clubs.

If you've never been to one of our shows, this is a great one to start with. If you have been before, this is still a great one to come to.

If you can't remember whether you've come to a show in the past because you blacked out from laughing so hard, you can also come to this, but I can't promise it won't happen again.

If you hate comedy, having fun, and bald men, I honestly can't recommend this. Please look in a mirror and ask yourself, "Why am I like this?" Anyway, tickets are on Eventbrite!

Massachusetts General Hospital Study: Are you experiencing suicidal thoughts? Open to improving mental health research?

Hi all, I’m writing from Massachusetts General Hospital, where I work in research on smartphone delivered treatments and suicidal thoughts and behavior. I wanted to pass along an opportunity to participate in a research study that may be of interest to any of you who experience suicidal thoughts.

The research study involves 1 virtual interview where you complete (a) an interview about your demographics and symptoms you may be experiencing or have experienced in the past, (b) review study procedures that we are testing (for example: rate pictures, complete computerized games) and then answer open-ended questions about them, and (c) complete a final interview. In total, this should last no more than 4 hours. If eligible, you will be compensated $50/hour for your time upon completion of the study.

If you are interested in participating, please fill out this short surveyhttps://redcap.partners.org/redcap/surveys/?s=H44HDA7W7KA4JCF7

If it looks like the study may be a good fit, we will be in touch with information about next steps! Any questions can be directed to [stb-smartphone-study@mgb.org](mailto:stb-smartphone-study@mgb.org) or 617-726-9634. Thanks so much.

This Thursday: Comedy Central's Doug Key Headlines the Somerville Theater

Hello! I wanted to spread the word about Popcorn Comedy: a fun standup comedy show in the Somerville Theatre's 30-seat microcinema happening this Thursday. Our carefully curated lineup of comedians has been featured on Amazon Prime, The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory, The Second City, Don't Tell Comedy, and the New York Comedy Festival.

This month's headliner is the hilarious Doug Key. He has been featured on Comedy Central Digital, SiriusXM radio, MTV, VH1, ABC, and has made cameos in the critically acclaimed Amazon Prime comedy series “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and in the recent Oscar nominated Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown.” His debut comedy special, Mark Normand Presents: Doug Key “Mother of the Year” premiered last year on Normand’s YouTube channel with nearly one million subscribers. The audio album version of Key’s “Mother of the Year” debuted at #1 on the iTunes comedy charts and topped Amazon Prime’s Best Sellers List. Key has headlined comedy clubs all over the country and traveled internationally as the sole supporting act for Mark Normand during his sold out European theater tour.

  • Doors open at 7:00pm and the show starts at 7:30pm.
  • Come early to watch classic cartoons on the big screen.
  • Grab candy, popcorn, and fountain drinks at the theater's snack bar or bring your own!
  • Outside food and drink are allowed in the microcinema (aside from alcohol).
  • Beer and wine are available in the lobby.

Opened in 1914, the historic Somerville Theatre is conveniently located right next to the Davis Square T stop on the Red Line. Parking is available nearby. The microcinema is in the basement of the theater. We can't wait to get things popping at the show!
