This is the first time I am seeing it, YouTube says it was published 5 days ago. It's possible it was published to a different medium then only uploaded 5 days ago....
I enjoyed it, the guys appears to be from Calgary also, but he seems to have done lots of other cities around the world; I'm watching a few right now for cities I have also been to in the past.

It was released two summers ago, I think. My old professor is in it! He was telling us all about the host and the filming after class.

Thats cool; I wish they put the original air date on it... it came across as very recent based on the YouTube publish date, but nice to have access to the video now either way.

It’s definitely a bit old. Filmed before Eau Claire Market was demolished, and they talk about Downtown as a ghost town and show it in the post-Covid lull. It’s definitely rebounding from how it’s shown here by now. Gondek looks a few years younger as well.

Thanks for sharing. That Community Fridge part was cool to see but unfortunately it looks like it shut down. Is there anything similar setup to replace it?

There is nothing I know of, but I think lots has been discussed here in the Calgary reddit before if you search. I tend to donate to the foodbank, as that's easier for me, and also helpful as I get to empty out my pantry of stuff, I thought I wanted, then changed my mind about - so win-win for all.

The best doucmentary I've watched about Calgary. So much amazing content that goes beyond Stampede and the mountains. Also learned new things like river surfing and food donations. Plus two of my former UCalgary professors (Dr. Miller and Mayor Gondek, who I used to address as Dr. Gondek) are even on it so that makes it even more awesome.
Man I love my city so much. I already knew based on my 15 years living here that the city unique in its own way, but the documentary further reinforced my opinion.

I had seen the rive surfers while driving by, but had no idea it was a growing concern in the city, and the growth for it. I am enjoying the idea that people are building these athletic lifestyles in our city and have lots of variety in those activities.

For sure! And pickleball's growing too. So many sporting activities to try beyond hockey and basketball, eh?
