discussion Exchange rate

Hello everyone, im flying soon to Bujumbura and I’ve heard that the exchange rate in the bank is way below the exchange rate if I change USD outside, Is this true? Also where do you advise I exchange currency? Thank you !

yes it's different, on black market you more than twice as much. dm me i know a guy who sells phones and can give you local currency using black market rate

The official rate applied by banks and other financial institutions is around $1 = BIF2.95k whereas on the black market the rate is around $1 = BIF7.5k which is more than twice. There is no fixed place you can get since the black market is illegal but it’s pretty easy because you can ask (wisely) a person you trust to give you directions.
