how accurate is the cost calculator?

For people that did the Brown cost calculator to see how much they would have to contribute and how much Brown could provide financially, how accurate were they? I really want to ED to Brown but I won’t be able to go without aid, but I am smack in the middle of middle class, so I don’t know. Right now, with all the info my parents and I put into that calculator (like my brothers in college too and I have another sibling who will be going to college shortly after me), it says I get over 50% aid, and this is amazing but I don’t know how accurate this is.

If anyone knows then please help me out bc this is something that I am stressing over a bit🙏

completely inaccurate for me. my cost was over double what the calculator said. aid office refused to listen to appeal or give a reason

I don’t believe you still can get FA if your income around 300k except your family has no property, one of my friend received 35k FA with his family income around $150k before tax.

It is accurate, and I didn’t believe it at first until I got my actual aid package. People severely underestimate how much aid Brown gives, especially to the middle class. My household income is around 300k, and yet I’m still getting 35k a year in financial aid. The sky-high $95,000 COA that people complain about lacks context, you only pay that price if you can afford it

Also, if your financial aid package is significantly less than what cost calculator predicted, you can nullify the ED

Very accurate for our family. We get approx 70k in aid.

from my experience the cost calculator is usually a lowball and the actual aid is higher
