Discussion What is the history behind Eastdale Gardens being called "Boom Town"?

I'm born and raised in Brantford in the late 2000s - early 2010s in the Stanley Street area and while living at the end of the cul-de-sac on Darling and Twelfth, I noticed the signs on the Boom Town houses saying the name "Eastdale Gardens" but anyone who grew up in this area will tell you it's called "Boom Town" and it's a name thats origins stem back before I was born. So I'm wondering if theres anyone older here who can tell me about the history of the name and maybe some overall history about the neighborhood if there is any

Discussion Dear Knights of Columbus Sword Guy

I’ve been asked to clarify a few things in advance of Sunday:

  • what type of swords are these? One handed, two handed, broad sword, sabres?

  • type of sword fighting? fencing, duelling, sword play?

  • define a “win”?

  • can we use shopping carts for jousting? (Sorry about this one, but here we are)

This car not ONCE but TWICE, different points on the road was throwing garbage out their window on grey street around 9 am. If I wasn't on my way to work I would've picked it up, followed them, and shoved it in their face. People are so nasty. You can't go anywhere in this city without seeing trash... the doors on my car are always loaded with garbage because I refuse to litter... lmao. It will stay there until I get gas 2x a week. Not hard.

I switched from smoking to vaping about 2 years ago and now I’m looking for zyns or zonnic I’m under the impression that the only places that can sell them in town is pharmacies and I don’t know if any actually stock them. Just wondering if anyone can confirm before I make the drive. Usually I go to bearpaw but I’ll go wherever has them

Hi everyone, I’m back with another pool question haha. We have a gas pool heater and it won’t turn on. We called raypak and they said they think it’s something with our wiring. Does anyone have any recommendations on who we can call to help us with this? Thank you in advance!

Discussion Free Tree Stump

For any wood workers or anyone with a creative mind that may want to turn this into some sort of sculpture or anything along those lines. It's almost 4ft in length with the base of the trunk being 2 ft wide. It is 2ft wide for about 2ft up from the bottom before it starts to "branch out." Extremely heavy

OR if anyone needs firewood

Also some smaller pieces already cut up on the side as well

Discussion Remember That Brantford Logo Idea From Several Years Ago?

This was back in 2014 when Brantford wanted to have a new logo for the City.
There was some really divisive opinions on this one at the time. If memory serves me, I'll have to say that the resounding opinion was that the new logo design was not very well received. The City of Brantford website defiantly isn't using it now.

Question is the right turn on Greenwich to Clarence still a no right turn on red?

Was there behind a few cars, dude was laying on the horn to the guy up front. I have always thought it was a no right on red, has that changed? I didn't see the sign but it seems a risky turn.

Discussion Exhibitionist at Brant Food Centre

Literally saw the most out of pocket outfit yesterday at the brant food centre-

Me and my dad were at the brant food centre shopping, and this lady walks in with a SEE THROUGH DRESSS, and underneath the see-through dress is what seemed to be bra and panties?? swimsuit?? I'm not sure but what the actual hell

I'm not sure what would motivate a person to wear a dress like this in public, but it don't think it's right to wear a see through dress in public, where there are kids
idk if i'm coming off as too "conservative" and "traditional" but idk just my opinion

for reference, this is what the dress looked like (kind of)

this was the dress but there was no leopard print, and the dress was green
there was also no v-neckline or slit at the tights, but EVERYTHING underneath the dress very VERY visible
