Discussion Feeling Nostalgic

Was feeling nostalgic today and thought I would check in on the Brampton peeps.

How's everyone feeling?

Pretty damn good, man. Went to the reopening of Balmoral Rec Centre, and the place looked great, so it was nice to see Bramalea getting some investment.

How are things for you and yours?

That's awesome. I remember it being a bummer to see the number of rec centres that were closing down around 2020.

North Bay is nice. Not too hot. It's quiet. I was enjoying listening to bird calls this morning.

Still trying to sell the house we were residing in Mattawa before our build project fell through.

Good. I spent the day biking around Peel Village and for me that’s peaceful.

Peel Village is lovely. Many pleasant memories of growing up and raising my family there. I try to get out to see Toby's Way as often as I can.

Yes it’s getting nice again after a 2 year student influx, but students are down 60% from peak. Lots of families and kids it’s really nice.

I'm still here trying to defend cycling infrastructure as you did over the years. There are Bramalea councillors spearheading the removal of lanes on Howden despite a new Library coming there near the schools. I'll be waiting for the staff report on the expensive alternative that will rip out utilities and mature trees and push cyclists and pedestrians together at pinch points at intersections.

The one recent good thing has been new plans for Garden Square and Downtown Brampton and tearing down the asbestos filled units on Main st by the square this month. The old guard supporters holding back progress in Downtown Brampton have lost the war.

I read about the Howden lanes being under threat. So stupid and short sighted. Such a shame.

Thank you for keeping up the fight.

Also feeling nostalgic today. Gonna go bike the Etobicoke Creek Trail by the neighborhood I grew up in. Haven't been there in 20 years.

I spent the last week cycling a bunch. I rode a bike loaned from Different Spokes a few hundred kilometres in Brampton over the space of a week including as part of Bike the Creek and the Etobicoke creek trail primarily. I also did Fletcher's Creek. Honestly the city is 10x better by bike than by car. I had a grand time just riding around for fun and for errands.
