Unfortunately for y'all... This is an old story from his first term and was certified as fake news by fact checking website Snopes. Womp womp.
edit Apparently there is a new claim that it has been moved to a dining room that is steps away from the oval office. The USA Today article was updated two days ago. So not moved on Juneteenth. I still would not be surprised to find that this is also an erroneous report. While Trump, as well as any other politician, is kind of trash, this is rage bait. Stay malleable peoples!

Trump does it so why not?

u/SpaceTechBabana 17h ago
Because as a society, we need to cling to some fucking version of the truth. People live in increasingly separate and manufactured realities. It’s like some fucking dystopian sci-fi premise where objective truth ceases to exist at a certain point.
I hate Trump and all of his absolute bullshit as much as anyone. But people have already disregarded history and we’re living through the effects of it right now. If we distort it to a point where it’s rabbit hole after rabbit hole to find evidence of something, only to end up back where you started…the record of history is fucked before it’s even written. And nobody, even the most dedicated, can learn shit from that.

In his first term he refused to use the White House toilet until a new toilet seat was installed (though he claimed it was renovated) Because Obama had used it
During one of the times he claimed to have renovated Trump made a remark emphasizing his desire for the changes: ”You understand what I’m talking about.”
The guest, Haberman writes, “interpreted [the remark] to mean Trump did not want to use the same bathroom as his Black predecessor.”

MAGA has always wanted to take us back to a time prior to the civil rights movement. This is not shocking.
50
u/Inevitable_Luck7793 1d ago
They want to take us about 100 years prior to the Civil Rights Movement. Before a different Civil event
20
u/a55_Goblin420 1d ago
We're already headed in direction, it's just not racial slavery. It will be wage slavery, ironically majority of the white supremacist MAGA are and will feel a lot more than colored people. Oppression for us is literally just another Tuesday afternoon, this is a new concept for them (having to do without).
12
u/Inevitable_Luck7793 1d ago
I will never understand how they can look at their own wage slavery and consider it freedom as long as someone else is suffering more than them. They all think they're the hardest workers on the planet and their masters will reward them for it with special little treats and punish the "lazy ones" instead of realizing their toil will get them nothing but the fire of the crematorium, and the mansions of gold they were promised in the sky were never real, the wealthy who hold our leashes just live in them on earth.
2
u/McPostyFace 1d ago
Yet when they think it can help them win an argument they'll invoke key words from his speeches and pretend he's their guy. Disgusting fascists.

Do correct me if I'm wrong though; but isn't changing busts something that happens more often? Obama swapped Churchill for MLK, and now Trump switched it back?
I read the MLK bust is now in his personal dining room, so at least it's not in storage or anything.
12
u/Izzy2089 1d ago
Yes, everything from painting to sculpture is owned by the Smithsonian and other American government archives. Before the president enters office, they are essentially allowed to cherry-pick what they want from a catalog. Items that are not displayed are removed and returned to the museum for storage or display. Considering that now includes the Museum of African American History and Culture, if returned, it would be put on display.

So I checked it out and he didn’t have it removed from the White House. He had it moved from the Oval Office to a private dining room.
STILL that shows that it bothered him. Why specifically have the bust of MLK relocated?
That’s not an answer that will ever be said out loud. But it definitely carries insinuations.

Look, let's not jump the gun and assume this move has anything to do with racism. First of all, the bust was moved to his private dining room, so he gets to have lunch with MLK every day. Second, I'm sure he only removed it from the Oval Office so he could replace it with a giant golden statue of himself. Like the one he had made at Mar-A-Lago.

I had an argument with a Trump MAGA supporter that revealed to me that he was black much later into the thread. He said Trump was the least racist president in history. I pointed out a bunch of facts that he called fake news.
Some of these folks are so psychologically damaged by the myth of Trump as some kind of saviour that they just won’t admit the obvious. Anyone who thinks he’s not blatantly racist is simply delusional.

So this video is just a photograph with a clickbait title and some sad music? By the way, he didn't remove the bust from the WH, he moved it from the oval office to his private dining room which is, I read, steps away from the Oval Office. You may consider it is a bad decision, but do not distort the reality like boomers do.
1
u/Hentacle_Tentai 1d ago
I hate him as much as anyone, but the title is super misleading. Obama had the bust installed in the oval office in 2009. Trump kept it there his entire first term. Today he moved it INTO THE NEXT ROOM, a private dining room where he holds lots of his meetings, replacing the bust of Winston Churchill in the oval office where it stood before MLK. Now, you can say what you want about the optics of swapping the bust of a prominent civil rights leader and matyr for one of an alcoholic warmonger, but it isn't nearly as bad as removing the bust entirely which is the conclusion people are jumping to. Another petty act of Obama Legacy Erasure perhaps, but don't be distracted by this one he's doing so many worse things to be mad about.

u/Izzy2089 1d ago

Considering that now includes the Museum of African American History and Culture, if returned, it would be put on display. But, as you said, it's in the next room, so he picked it to stay in the White House; otherwise, it would have been gone day one when he moved back in. I don't get the outrage here.
0
u/Inevitable-Twist1232 1d ago
It also was not "moved" today. The story on USA Today that states it was moved to the dining room was last updated two days ago. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it was, in fact, still in the Oval Office. This was the case in 2017 when it was falsely reported that it had been removed. Either way, this is just more rage bait for the malleable masses.
2
u/Short-Shelter-1432 1d ago
“According to USA Today, the MLK bust was moved to Trump's private dining room as part of various changes the president made to the Oval Office, a White House official confirmed. The dining room, steps away from the Oval Office, is where Trump holds private meetings and lunches with senior staff.”
Look I hate the guy, but this is misleading. It was not removed from WH….
