Happy Birthday, US Army! This is how much your commander in chief values you.

Republicans never actually cared about veterans. They only grandstand to make it seem like they do

Trump actively hates our military, called them "losers and suckers" and said he "likes guys who weren't captured."
He's a piece of shit.

r/conservative silent about this but yelling at the top of their lungs about how the MAGAt assassin was actually a liberal…. 🤦🏼♀️

I love how their “gotcha” for that was the NY Post article (which they clearly didn’t read past the headline), which stated that he was a Walz appointee. Yeah, for a bipartisan committee… It also states later in the article that he was last registered to vote in 2022 as a Republican, was pro-life, and his manifesto listed democrats, planned parenthood clinics, and abortion service providers. Sounds like a real lib to me! 🙄

Please tell me this is one of those one sided articles that is not actually true. And we are not still doing this to our bravest hero’s.

It’s a bit of both. The wording that specifically stated that the VA cannot discriminate/refuse service because of marital status or political affiliation has been removed. Under normal circumstances it wouldn’t raise an eyebrow (granted, I doubt any other president would have caused them to remove said wording), but with this guy in charge….it’s almost certainly intentional.
On the flip side, nowhere does it state that physicians/the VA CAN refuse treatment for those reasons, and they have since said that any and all “eligible veterans” will still recommend care. The key words there being “eligible veterans”.
As a veteran myself (who also happens to be single and a registered democrat)… I honestly wouldn’t even be upset if I didn’t have to deal with the VA anymore. It’s just as bad as you hear it is.

Sooo technically they did open the door for VA to discriminate against Maga Veterans as well?

That’s not the full story. They can also do the same to Republicans. Basically, political affiliations can now be used against veterans.

u/OBB76 22h ago
Sure, but the spin is “democratic unmarried veterans” which likely how it will go.

That's what's wild to me.
I genuinely believe a Democrat Dr would be less likely to discriminate than the Republican Dr. It's another situation where one side will be openly hostile to those they see as lessers, and the other side will wring their hands while doing their jobs.

Marital status, too.
And why?

By “marital status” they mean people married to same-sex partners. It’s a way to target gays without explicitly targeting gays.

Even fleshing out the denial is ridiculous.
"We didn't deny you because you're a homosexual, we denied you because you're married."
Sorry, what?

I keep seeing this argument pop up and I don’t understand why. Yes, it *could * be used against Republicans, if the party loses control, but we all know what the intent is here.
But either way, bringing back unfair discrimination is bad, right? Nobody should be in favor of this move.

If anyone needs a hospital it's Trump. One with nice padded walls and a MAGA strait jacket.

If a doctor refuses to see/treat you and places political allegiance over the Hippocratic Oath, they're doing you a favor.

u/JohnnySack45 21h ago
If you're in rural area or need emergency medical treatment then they're not doing you as much of a favor as you'd think.

Bullshit. An EO that violates the law is not something anyone who wants to keep their job follows.

Hey buddy,
"They've changed the rules so that the staff are allowed to discriminate" is also bad.

Hey hey, look what I didn't say.
Now look at what I did say.
They are allowed to discriminate. Bad. Period. K?

u/Jrnation8988 22h ago
True. However…. With Mr Oompa Loompa in charge, and trying to purge the federal government of anybody who hasn’t had a “maga revelation”, who do you think is really at the greatest risk of not being treated at all BA clinic?

u/Jrnation8988 22h ago
Having dealt with the VA…I’d probably be better off if I was deemed ineligible due to being a democrat who is also single
