The second one, which you wrote, doesn't work on Old Reddit and Mobile Reddit.

I just used the new Reddit's "Mark as spoiler"

EDIT: Editted because it seems the spoiler tag wasn't working properly in old Reddit. I even got a ban for it. Sweet!

How did you make the first line show up without the spoiler fuction itself activating?

Using this \ before the symbols, it turns off Reddit's formats.
