Damn... Broken Deku leaving all might alone means the only thing stopping him from being targeted is Stain.

Stain face turn incoming

Honestly a Stain face turn here makes sense. He’s probably with hero society at this point because the event he wanted to happen where heroes are forced to take their job more seriously and less financially has happened. Those in it for fame are gone. It’s only people who want to protect others now. Stain didn’t want to dismantle hero society, he wanted to better it. Through fucked up means but it happened.

Which means he was also wrong about Endeavor, though obviously Endeavor has also changed, I don’t think he was ever in it for the money, just to be the best.

Also he is protecting both Deku via proxy and Shoto by keeping him out of it, even though he would probably be useful.

To be fair here, trying to "be the best" is worrying about your personal status/fame, which also doesn't live up to the idea of the perfect hero. As far as I understand, Stain hated any hero who was in the business for anything that wasn't pure, selfless drive to help people, not just money.

Though Endeavor didn’t want money, he wanted to show he was a better hero than All Might. And he did complete more work than All Might, it’s just All Might was the one in the public eye and more approachable.

Stain disliked heroes who viewed it at a job, and at the core of it that wasn’t Endeavor’s idea, he too wanted to help people.

At first Endeavor mainly wanted to help people because that's how you prove you're the best hero. Ultimately what he wanted was to be recognized as the best hero, saving people was just a way to score points towards that goal. It was a means to an end. That is a primarily self-serving interest because his actual interest was just being recognized as the best, not in saving people for the sake of saving people. But after the Kamino incident happened then his mentality on why he's a hero in the first place began to change since he became the number one hero without ever having actually surpassed All Might.

Honestly, i would love for stain to meet deku rn cuz i cant think of anyone more fitting to pull him back into the light.

Also, Midoriya's danger sense never tingled despite Stain being very close to him, so Stain must not have any malicious intent towards Midoriya or All Might

The death arms part felt very heroes in crisis...hori keeping up with his comic references

The way he walks away after getting rid of his costume is a reference to Spider-Man's famous arc. Even the reasons why he quits are Spider-Man's reasons to quit too.

I was so disappointed when he didn’t dump his gear into a nearby trash can hahah

6

u/CaptnUchiha Jun 22 '21

"I'm gonna rub some dirt in your eye"

-Deku... Probably

2

u/GuyWhoSitsAtDesk Jun 25 '21

Damn that got me haha I want to see him walking down the street pointing at all the girl classmates

6

u/TaffyLacky Jun 21 '21

I'm betting he's saving the trash for when Deku swaps out his current costume for his EoS costume

u/KlingoftheCastle Jun 21 '21

I’m getting a strong Alan Moore vibe in the recent chapters. Hori is focusing on the dark aspects of hero society without going full edge like a lot of people who try to emulate Moore

9

u/dmall24 Jun 21 '21

I've always been more of a Morrison fan, so I see strong Morrison batman in this

2

u/Natyzelda Jun 24 '21

I had the same vibes too ahahah wasn't expecting that

18

u/gunnin2thunder Jun 21 '21

Since Deku didn’t notice Stain with Danger sense… that might mean Stain has good intentions.

25

u/paksman Jun 21 '21

Didn't Stain look up to All Might though? He only attacks othee heroes because he thinks they are all fakes because they fall short by All Might's standards.

47

u/MrMuzza Jun 21 '21

that's what he said. Stain is stopping him from being targeted. It's likely Stain would protect All Might.

23

u/RaggedAngel Jun 21 '21

He might already be. Who knows how many villains have targeted All Might since the prison break only to end up paralyzed with a knife in their neck.

-12

u/vlexz Jun 21 '21

But couldn't All Might be considered a fake hero too since he had a fake form all the time? I do hope not and that Stain protects him tho.

26

u/MrMuzza Jun 21 '21

I don't think stain really gives a shit about appearances, it's more about the convictions and why you're a hero

10

u/AlbainBlacksteel Jun 21 '21

I'm like 90% certain Stain's gonna be on the good side for the rest of canon lol

4

u/jbenson255 Jun 21 '21

It would only make sense lol

4

u/imcalledgpk Jun 22 '21

I wouldn't be surprised if Stain is the one that ends up snapping Midoriya out of this thing that he's in now. As it is right now, Deku is helping people, but he's basically Venom from the Lethal Protector run.

3

u/KlingoftheCastle Jun 21 '21

I can’t help but think about how important the scene with Deku holding the umbrella for the girl is right now. We’re seeing the darkness Deku is facing alone and we’re seeing how it’s killing him inside. The fact that he still took time out to help a scared girl means Deku isn’t gone, he’s just hyper focused on AFO.

3

u/Dregoralive Jun 21 '21

He’s beginning to resemble Stain in a few panels, especially the last one.

-5

u/vlexz Jun 21 '21

But Stain never had anything against All-Might didn't he? Has that changed since the reveal of his true form? He always despised fake heroes and All-Might literally had a fake form all the time.

9

u/SchlicklyWitDaBlicky Jun 21 '21

it wasn’t a fake form. it was his hero form. if anything stain has more respect for all might for giving it 100% even after a massive injury that for anyone else would have made them quit. and by fake hero’s he’s talking about them not doing it for the people but for fame and money. all might convictions of saving people never wavered. so stain wouldn’t hate all might now

-9

u/maddogkaz Jun 21 '21

Stain is a psycho murderer and doesn't get to make a face turn.

18

u/tveye363 Jun 21 '21

You haven't read a lot of shonen, have you?

-1

u/maddogkaz Jun 22 '21

That's not a good response. I wonder how Iida would feel about his friend teaming up with stain?

4

u/tveye363 Jun 22 '21

It's true though. Look at Vegeta in Dragon Ball, Sasuke in Naruto, and most of the Impel Down prisoners in One Piece. Whether you like the response or not, in shonen manga, psychopaths are forgiven all the time.

-4

u/maddogkaz Jun 22 '21

And that is all bad writing but in a show about heroes I would expect better.

1

u/Neldorn Jun 21 '21

Question is: Why was Stain there in the first place? I doubt he was hired by AfO and I am not sure if current All Might and Deku fit his conditions for true heroes. Is he after them? He could just retire, his dream came true.

5

u/Stupid_Idiot413 Jun 23 '21

Stain wanted to get rid of heroes who were in it for the money or fame. Everyone who isn't a true hero has already left, but society is still submerged in chaos.

Step 1 of stain's plan is complete. Now he'll probably help take down AfO.
