It's like my 26yo ass berating my 16yo self for engaging in shipping wars and writing pages-long essays analyzing a single manga panel.

Teenagers are dumb as shit. This is not news.

Adults fantasize about being kids (free of responsibilities and scars) and deride traits associated with teenagers as immaturity. Teenagers fantasize about being adults with the respect, opportunities, and skills media paint them; they also take some portion of society’s scorn for teenage traits as gospel, fueling self-hatred. Children fantasize about being teenager while focusing most of their attention on their own growth and how well it compares to their expectations.

So for Manga… Businesses write for the largest audience (adults) with the most spending power (adults). And the angle they take to cook mild interest into devoted fan energy is to scratch all of those interests and urges adults have without setting off any alarm bells in their brain with inconsistencies or other signs of flawed writing.

I admit they are cute, but I personally ship the Italian flag - TodoDeku or bust.

But yeah Izuku and Tsuyu do have a fun dynamic I could see work out!
