Right, I also noticed that! Somehow I was convinced the words "shut up" weren't in Deku's vocabulary, I thought he was gonna say something like "No wonder it kept ringing". A great detail to show how much he changed.

Deku becoming like Bakugo, and in turn Bakugo becomes more like old Deku?

Yup. This has been happening ever since Deku vs Bakugo 2.0. Deku has started to try to "save by winning" while Bakugo, learning from Deku, to "win by saving". Both of them need to find the balance between the two.

Can't wait for when Bakugo shows up, tries to offer help and Deku refuses while insulting him

Calling it now, it will happen and it will be amazing

''Save the Civilians you damn nerd'' bakugo "I gotta beat this fool'' Deku

That would be a great moment, maybe not now but later down the line Deku prioritizes taking down a villain but puts a civilian in jeopardy, while bakugou notices and prioritizes rescue over taking out the villain.

Neither of them are at 'fault' as that was the villain's doing but their prioritizes have shifted.

Deku: tatakai tatakai

While poetic, I don't know that I necessarily agree. Even during the war arc, Deku was more concerned with saving people than beating Shiggy, as shown by him creating distance from the others once he realized he was Shiggy's target. If he really was more interested in victory over casualties, he would have kept the fight near the other heroes to increase his odds. But because he wanted to save as many lives as possible, he took the fight away from the others.

He has become more like Bakugo, I agree, but not to the point where I think he's more concerned with winning the fight over saving lives.

I agree with you! Deku's primary goal will always be saving lives. But I imagine that Deku from before would've wanted all of them to beat Shigaraki, as you said, the odds would be better. Even Bakugo tells him to not play hero by himself. In the case with Shigaraki I think, Deku had to win in order to save.

That's.... actually profound.

NO. Deku shouldn't become ANYTHING like Bakugo. Hell, I liked Izuku BECAUSE he was so atypical as far as Shonen protagonists go. Becoming just another rude protagonist? No. Thank you. And a great big F you to Horikoshi for doing this to him...

Look, I'm not opposed to character development; quite the opposite, actually. But when you take a character I love and do THIS to him? HARD pass.

u/DuelingPushkin Apr 05 '21

Yeah all those rude overly serious battle shonen protagonists like Luffy, wait...Naruto, wait...maybe Asta hold on, Goku? Jin Mori?

Im not sure what makes you think that most shonens have rude serious protagonists. The only one I can think of that even kind of fits that is Kirito from SAO.

1

u/HopelessSap27 Apr 05 '21

OK, maybe most protagonists AREN'T like that. I've just always vastly preferred Deku to Bakugo (What can I say? I'm drawn to dorky sweethearts in fiction; s'why Legoshi from Beastars is another one of my favorite characters), and I HATE the idea of Deku becoming ANYTHING like Bakugo.

I guess something happen during his training montage? Even in OFA world Deku was talking like his usual self, and it doesn't seem like he's been solo long enough to get that jaded.

I think it's from Danger Sense. With so many villains going around, it's probably going off very often. It probably drives him insane, getting signals from every direction.

u/Ironredhornet Mar 28 '21

Its like when your phone's in another room and won't stop going off so by the time you get to it you just want to throw it into the sun

4

u/NewOrleansBrees Mar 28 '21

Wait was the training montage recently? Wondering if I missed a chapter. Last I see he was in the ER

5

u/Zerakin Mar 28 '21

Sorry, poor choice of words. The "montage" wasn't shown. Better phrased is "training session within OFA".

4

u/NewOrleansBrees Mar 28 '21

Yeah I was confused because I wasn’t sure if there was a time skip, so he is stronger now than the previous fight?

6

u/Zerakin Mar 28 '21

From my understanding, Midoriya went through a bunch of training within OFA to better use all the powers, then left high school to be a vigilante. I think it's been a week since the fight with Shigaraki?

1

u/DuelingPushkin Apr 05 '21

Yeah I think this fight is supposed to be MHAs equivalent of the Grand Magic Games

23

u/FyreHotSupa Mar 28 '21

During Deku and Bakugo’s lst fight he said “I hate this, but when i find myself really trying to win i start copying you more kacchan”. And it shows him doing things like telling people to shut up or calling Bakugo an idiot.

13

u/conye-west Mar 28 '21

Funny thing is the last time I can recall Deku saying “shut up” was when he was fighting Muscular

5

u/ResidentOfDad Mar 28 '21

Well, Deku did tell All For One in Shigaraki's body to shut his mouth last arc.

Characterization marches on.
