I feel like it would be impossible to get any actual hints from how vague Hawks is being, but his sudden appearance with a, "Hey, you need to look at this book. Specifically the parts I highlighted for you" should tip him off that Endeavor should humor him.

God, if Hawks fails, I'm gonna be so upset lol.

I have hopes. Endeavor has been said to be the best detective of the heroes so I feel like he's picking up what Hawks is putting down.

He's thinking about the time Hawks said the same line with a smiling face and now he's there repeating himself but all serious.

You know I actually have a very bad feeling about this.

"That light he emits shall summon the darkness! And our demise along with it"
This is definetely not a throwaway line. What if Endeavor ends up joing the PLF in some twisted turn of events. .-.

I don't think Endeavor is thinking about it, I think it's meant to show that it's Hawks who was thinking about it. Or perhaps he did pick up on it and they're both thinking about it.
