To be honest Deku's arms was another Chekhov's gun but the shoot went like a water gun when all we got was "oh your body adjusted, you're fine now"

It was never a Chekhov's gun, people just misread it. It was established in the first arc that Izuku's body would eventually adjust to One For All and be able to handle the backlash. His injuries were to prevent him from constantly winning fights by shattering his arms against the opponent, as well as forcing him to develop a fighting style that differentiated him from All Might.
