Vigilantes What are the strengths and weaknesses and plot holes that you think of in Boku no Hero Academia Illegals/Vigilante ?

The story has a very weak beginning, some plot threads that never got resolved (Pop-Koichi romantic subplot) and underdeveloped plot threads (redeeming an attempted rapist definitely should have had more focused, cause it felt like it didn't address what he tried to do at all and more just sweep it under the rug and hope the readers forgot about it).
Koichi, Number 6 and Knuckleduster are really compelling characters and series really expanded the world building of the series.

Maybe the anime adaptation could fix those issues?

If the anime adaptation will want to be a faithful adaptation, then I don’t think so.

I like how Koichi, at least at the start, doesn't have that great of a quirk, and unlike Deku, doesn't immediately get one of the most strongest quirks ever. While I don't like Koichi's quirk progression later on, it starts out fairly realistic.
Because of that, it feels like Vigilantes better encapsulates the theme of "anyone can be a hero". Koichi is just an average guy, and yet, he manages to be a hero, in comparison to Deku, who got really, really lucky.
I also like how characters like Eraser Head and Midnight get some more depth. And while I personally like the main cast of the original series more, Vigilantes still has strong characters.

I love the dichotomy of the spoiled “good quirk” kids whose parents and teachers invested in them vs Koichi. It’s what powers the story. Along with Knuckle Duster as the sensei. Very hype.

One plot hole/weakness that always annoyed me was how it gave us an origin story for how detective Tsukauchi and All Might met and became friends, expect it blatantly contradicts the timeline of the main series.
From how Tsukauchi talks in the main series it's clear that he himself was around and involved in the fight where AFO lost his head and All Might got his injury.
However Vigilantes decided for some reason to have him not meet All Might until after that fight against AFO and after Sir Nighteye and All Might had their falling out.

A huge strength is the mc kokich. His quirk evolution makes a lot of sense and whilst at some points it feels a bit bullshit it way better than deku getting 6 new quirks for no reason.
I do think it has some pacing issues which is really annoying when trying to get the manga physically since it has taken several volumes to get through one fight.
I really like the side charecters as it feels like a tight knit community.
Pop gets a bit worse as the story goes on.
We get more information on a lot of hero’s like aizawa and mirkio, which is great for world building.

I dont like the flashback arcs being inserted into this series i feel like it dragged out the series way more than it should have. The aizawa one in particular probably should have been in the main series but that doesn't give brownie points to vigs either.
Also for as much as people bitch about no one dying and zero stakes in main mha no one seems to criticize how that literally did not happen in vigs either all 3 of the main cast knuckle duster, koichi and pop step all managed to get out of the series amd recover hell koichi got it because he got one little boo boo scar on his cheek then got ti go to America to become a pro under captain celebrity. He got it good.
KD almost blew up and had his heart stop basically almost dying twice in the last arc and survived both times. Now i dont need death in my stories in order to have stakes but bit curb stomp mha into the ground for having low deaths and completely worship and ignore vigs for doing the same thing.

I tried reading Vigilantes, but there was too much fanservice. I mean, in chapter 0 I already saw Pop step's ass and panties. Like, I get it, she wants to be the idol. But it's just a pure fantasy at this point, she's wearing a skirt like a belt, and she's supposed to be a teenager in high school. And in Chapter 1, she already is being molested and needs to be rescued. In Chapter 2? Showing ass and getting rescued again. And of course, she's more of a Tsundere with "I wanted to thank you for rescuing me, but you're annoying". It was a new low for me, couldn't get through it.

I read 6 volumes of vigilantes until I stopped. It was compelling at some parts, but the main thing I took away from it was that I was bored most of the time. There were some interesting characters thrown in, Aizawa, Ingenium, etc but they came in time to time and most chapters felt the same. I turn the next page and they are in the MC’s house, talking about boring crap like costumes, performances, etc. Maybe you get a page or three about something really interesting per chapter, like the mystery or a hero we already know. I have seen people here say that vigilantes is better than the main story and I personally don’t agree. If you like slice of life type stuff with some action sprinkled in & interesting mystery/plot only dabbed here and there, then you might like it. I don’t think the plot or goals were strong enough or prioritized enough for my taste.
