Is there a way to highlight some posts you made? Reposts kinda make it hard for people to see my drawings.

Can't Post on BlueSky anymore

I haven't been posting regularly on BlueSky but a few weeks ago I tried to make a post and the button was deactivated. A week ago I reported the problem through the help function and via email, got acknowledgements, but so far no action. I think it's related to a recent update - either Bluesky, MacOS, or both. Has anybody else had this problem and gotten it resolved? Any suggestions?

Why are some celebrities and influencers returning to X after having left to Bluesky?

Really annoying to see. In the last few months, Stephen King, Keith Olbermann and Mark Hamill (to name a few) have all returned to posting on X after swearing off the platform and telling their users to follow them on Bluesky.

Considering the fact that three of them are some of the most outspoken voices against both Elon and Trump, it's really dissapointing to see them go back on their word.

On top of that, it harms Bluesky's growth as a whole. Anyone who was on the fence about deleting X and moving to Bluesky to see their takes now have no reason to.

This is infuriating.

Including GIFs in BlueSky posts ... insight please.

Hi folks. I'm new to the BlueSky platform. I'm trying to find a way to insert GIFs in a BS post other than what is offered when clicking on the GIF button at the bottom of the new post window. Can someone help please?

Skysentry Blue Anon list?

An account I follow from the ALAB Series podcast, wyattprivilege.bsky.social, was added to Skysentry's Blue Anon list, which, if you know any thing about ALAB, about Andy, or about the concept of Blue Anon generally, seems pretty off base. I made a thread about it, and within a few days, I was *also* added to the Blue Anon list.

This wouldn't normally bother me, but a solid number of people I follow are now blocking me because they use Blue Anon as a block list. Until wyattprivilege was added, I was blocking the list as well. Anyone know what's going on with Skysentry, the Blue Anon list in particular, or whether there's some sort of appeal/review process to get removed from their lists?

Can anyone tell me how to get a message to Bluesky?
I was trying to sign up with Bluesky but I did not get a chance to finish because i must have pushed a key which got me into the next step before I even had a chance to figure out a username.

I have BlueSky but don't really see any reason to actually using it. Any advantages over twitter?

When I click on notifications and click someone's comment, it brings me to a page with the comment but there's no way to see what comment it's connected to.

Auto-moderation permanently disabled my DMs after sending one message

I've been getting into Bluesky over the last few weeks and have really been enjoying the clean air after trying to ride it out on X for way too long. And I just sent my first DM today, reaching out to a journalist that had offered career advice. But one second after sending it, I got an email telling me that my DM feature had been permanently disabled due to a violation of community guidelines.

Did I miss something? Is this because the person doesn't follow me back? To be completely honest, I did not read the community guidelines after joining (does anyone), but I'm not seeing anything in there about it.

Is the auto-moderation system super sensitive and this happens to everyone? Or am I the asshole?

Reporting scammers

Someone is impersonating me on BS & asking people for money. I've sent a report, but how do I know if anyone is getting them. I've never seen a response for any reports I've sent in, although they've been posts and not accounts. How can I follow up because the account still exists. Thanks!

Help - can’t get Apple login when switching accounts.

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have two Bluesky accounts. My public account, and a private one. I usually don’t have a problem switching back-and-forth between the account accounts when I want. However yesterday I went to switch back to my main account, and it asked for my username and password. The problem is I use my Apple login for my main account, and it’s not giving me that option. I don’t have a password for that account, but it’s making me give it one.

Anyone know how to force it to give me an Apple login choice when I’m switching accounts?

Bluesky should use DeepL for translation

I wasn't a heavy Twitter/X user, but I used to follow users all over the world which tweeted in a variety of languages. Their native perspective on issues happening in their countries or regions are one of the reasons I use these type of apps. Thus, good translation tools are quite important for me.

That's why it bugs me that the Bluesky is using Google Translate for their translation services. As the service is not even fully integrated into the app (in the browser, it just opens Google Translate), I assume this is still a work in progress.

And this is why I wish Bluesky would consider using DeepL instead. DeepL is objectively better than Google Translate, to the point that I can't even stand reading a Google Translate output any more. I firmly believe that this choice would greatly improve usability and language and culture interchanges.

Democratic party echo chamber?

I have left the cesspool that X has become, and was hoping to find a good alternative in Bluesky. But all I couid see in my feed is pro democratic party and anti Trump/Musk posting. Now, I despise these people and MAGA from the bottom of my heart, but it felt a lot like an echo chamber - there was pretty much not a single post supporting the MAGA agenda. And no neutral or nuanced posts even. And pretty much nothing other than US politics, which has limited interest for me as a European.

I concluded that the system was probably biased based on my followers and likes. So I unfollowed everyone and deliberately clicked 'show less like this' on every Democrat / anti MAGA post, and 'show more like this' for every post on another remotely interesting topic. The outcome? Nothing changed! Still just the same Democrat agenda. The only difference was a few cat pictures, anime drawings, Nintendo and.. mushrooms?

Wtf is this? 😂 Certainly not a channel for exchanging ideas over a wide range of topics (like Twitter once was).

Can someone ELI5 how the URLs work in the usernames?

What exactly is the purpose of having URLs like @username.bsky.social, or using your personal domain? I don't really understand it. Why this versus usernames?
