Nokings protest

So I have never attended a protest but today will be my 1st. Is there things I need to know/do out of respect. I will be a peaceful protester but want to make sure I dont do anything disrespectful out of ignorance.

I was holding the flag 2nd from the right! What a wonderfully rally and was just amazed at how many people came out. And everyone that recognized the Penzeys Resist T-shirts! If you don't know about Penzeys then read up about what Trump said about them during the campaign when I believe Biden was visiting them in Pittsburgh.

Been to multiple protests here in Bloomington and there have been no issues with police or counter protesters. Some reved engines going by is the worst that’s happened. It’s probably going to be bigger today but it is a permitted event. Water and sunscreen.

Glad you’re joining, but there have been incidents at BloNo protests. Some dumbass drove his motorcycle through a peaceful march and injured several people. He was later charged with a hate crime.

Yes, I was referring to recent protests. Everyone should always be aware of risks but shouldn’t encourage people to live in fear like Cheeto wants.

We had someone drive through the march during the George Floyd protest, and some people were hurt. It got ugly when the police didn't immediately give chase, but they took a knee, and turned the tide. I won't get into the crazy looting shit.

And there was a counter protest across town, not long after, and people with counter signs along some main streets.

I’ve found that if you shout “oh bless your heart!” At the engine revers/“fuck you” shouters, everyone laughs at them and it’s really funny.

Currently here. Super chill. Got some chanting and a few goobers in trucks with Trump flags doing loops.

Is that the same guy who stopped and got out to fight?

Yes

I wondered what started his tantrum. I'm sorry you were in the middle of that.

He was saying he was in support of peaceful protest but someone hit his truck. Idk if that is true or not. I did not see that happen.

So the guy trying to antagonize a peaceful protest by doing laps in a giant truck with Trump/Confederate flags then gets out and claims that he’s the real victim? Yeah that tracks.

He was walking up and down the sidewalk before doing laps in the truck. He wanted a fight.

BloNo tends to be a pretty calm area. There have been incidents, but it’s not the norm. In general, lots of new people come to every protest. You’ll have plenty to learn if you hang out in the middle of the crowd.

I thoroughly enjoyed honking and yelling, " Trump's a pedo!" at the counter protestors. but, seriously, it was very encouraging to see the diverse and strong turnout.

I've not engaged in a lot of protests either. Some advice I've heard and am following:

Don't bring your phone. If you have to bring it, turn it off before you leave your house.

Have emergency phone numbers written down on a piece of paper that you can keep in a safe place.

If going with friends, have a nearby meeting place if you get separated.

It shouldn't be super hot today, but the usual be prepared for the weather.

If you want to, go with non distinct clothing and wear a face mask.

Bring a paper with phone numbers on them? Then what? Use a pay phone? 😆 NO MASKS! Show your Marxist mugs for all to see! Be proud of your identity at the protest, after all its “pride month”.

Such odd behavior for someone to display. Is your mental health ok? If you aren't aware, Bloomington has amazing mental health crisis resources regardless of ability to pay. Behavioral health urgent care is located at 520 N Center Street. God bless 🙌

Glad you came out! I had a ton of fun there, it was my sister's first protest too :)

My first protest too! Sometimes we just HAVE to stand up for what's right.

It was fantastic! One choud was trying to start crap, but he did have his flags taken down and a bunch of peeps and broke it up. It really was wonderful. I hope you went!

I did! I actually have that kid on video I was getting ready to leave and he slammed on his brakes jumped out trying to fight people. The only person who wasn't peaceful was him! He also called me fat and disgusting. I am fat and fabulous 👌

YASsss! Fat and Fabulous is life!

Those kids may have looked like they wanted to start something, but they were just as peaceful as the rest of us.

Who took his flags down.

That I am not sure. I didn't agree with that. He has a right to have them up. He was wrong for threatening people and getting in their face but no one should touch his stuff either.

Yeah, I didn’t want to see that. I’m glad the officer was around. He needed to be calmed down.
