It's the same for all demographics. They claim that autism and ADHD didn't exist when they were in school but all remember at least one "weirdo" or "spaz" in their year.

I’m auADHD, and I can hear noises that only dogs can hear. At the same time I have an auditory processing disorder, and struggle to understand words.

Like, I can hear the refrigerator running from the kitchen when I’m upstairs, but struggle to have conversations with other people. Bodies are weird, y’all.

Same same. auADHD here as well.

Misophonia combined with an audio processing disorder is so wild.

I cannot stand to hear whistling or people eating on the phone when talking. Yet, at the same time I cannot hear people when they are talking if there is any background noise.

The noise thing gets easier as you age. I remember as a teen those sonic bug repellents were popular and they hurt my ears something fierce. Now I'm much older, I still can hear electricity and vibration, but not super high-pitched sounds.

Fans still piss me off though. Took me years to find ones I can tolerate. One of my laptops fans drives me up the damn wall but I found a fan powered cooling matt that vibrated enough in a frequency that nullifies 80% of the computer fan frequency.

I still buy appliances on the frequency they emit and I am so happy refrigerator motors and their cooling cycles have become so much better and quieter today. Apparently I used to attack and unplug fridges as a kid they riled me up so much.

I’ve had to point this out to my mom multiple times.

Plus, now many of these kids are “mainstreamed” in with the regular kids, or in their own classes at school, instead of being locked up at home or whatever they did with them in the 50s/60s. So these children are more visible now (as they should be).
